As far as I can recall, she is not under highgrnd but releasing an album through them because YG has too many other priorities to attend to.
That was a great exaggeration of the official statement, but it was basically the gist.

she's still on the yg label, but yg said that he was too busy to handle her comeback properly so tablo's going to do it instead. on one hand, YES TABLO. on the other hand, yg, your favouritism and mishandling of female acts is showing. lee hi should be one of the biggest act right now, but instead she's mostly been out of the lime light for two years.

Anyway it's very interesting to me that only two of these GOOD music dudes are black, maybe those are the only ones that went over.
Anyway Oh Hyuk will definitely suit this kind of production, he's incredibly talented, his style is authentic and I think he could do well with whatever this is. Tablo, idk anything about him but I hear his name a lot.
I'm really really looking forward to this. Kanye is still trash and dead to me but he knows everyone that needs to be known in music, production, design etc. As long as he's not actually involved this will be really good. I'm excited to hear what they all come out with.

They definitely started underground.
Despite the fact that they were signed with Woolim, (1) their company was relatively unknown, (2) hip hop was relatively new to Korea (and still kind of is), (3) and the content of their album was mostly censored to even get any mainstream media play. Their audiences were primarily underground where they performed along other acts in the movement crew like tiger jk, CB Mass (now Dynamic duo), uptown, etc. They didn't get mainstream traction till they released Fan in 2007.

Ohhhh I DO know Tablo.
I know Born Hater but I didn't know he was on it lol. I also only found out Mino was on it like two weeks ago...and yet I love the song!
Anyway I remember reading about that 'scandal', it's disgusting how those netizens did him. I'm glad he sued them but it's unbelievable it got that far. I respect how he seems to have handled it.

I really should have paid more attention to them, I listen to Born Hater at least every two days smh, I didn't know Tablo was in it lol
I know about that insane Stanford thing and I remember thinking I respected him for how he handled it but damn, those netizens deserve a round kick to the face for that shit.

Just tacking on more information, but yeah Tablo is 1/3 of Epik High and a big part of its production. They started underground before signing with Woolim, where they still continued to preform for an underground audience. Their earlier albums were very conscious and heavily criticized society while dealing with heavy subjects like war, religion, and sexual violence leading to strong censorship.
He wrote a book called pieces of you, which is just as lyrical and a great short read if you ever want to check it out.

Sounds like a cool project where a bunch of artists locked themselves up and got no sleep. Art life is wild. But I know sometimes you pull out your best shit when you're dog tired, haha. So I'm looking forward to it. Looking forward to hearing Hayi's new stuff...I feel like she is getting to tap into a sound she likes/wants. YG being too busy for her might be the best thing to happen to the girl, lol. Also the GOOD music producer she worked with also put up an instagram post with her so I feel like they got along well.
