Choi Jin Hyuk Discharged From Military Early Due to Knee Injury

Actor Choi Jin Hyuk was discharged from the military after just seven months due to his recent knee injury. His agency Red Brick House announced in a press release the actor’s medical leave on October 16.

Below is the full statement:

Hello, we are agency Red Brick House representing actor Choi Jin Hyuk.

We are making an announcement that Choi Jin Hyuk will be making a medical leave from the military on October 16.

Since his enlistment on March 31, he suffered a serious knee injury and received stem cell cartilage transplant surgery on his left knee. It is determined that Choi Jin Hyuk needs long-term rehabilitation treatment which makes it difficult for him to serve in the military any longer.

Choi Jin Hyuk hoped to return to the military service after his surgery. However, the ongoing treatment and rehabilitation needs are unavoidable, resulting in his medical leave.

Choi Jin Hyuk is quite distressed by the unexpected turn of events given his intention was to serve and complete his military duty. As an agency representing him, we regret having to inform you of such news as well.

Choi Jin Hyuk will focus on his treatment and rehabilitation from this point on.

basically his knee was in bad shape even before he enlisted (originally he planned to serve in police or something like that but in the end he chose active duty) and recent injury got bad enough for him to get discharged much sooner than planned

This means I'm going to watch him in a drama much sooner than I expected?!!!!

I feel so bad for all the famous actor/idols/singers/etc who have some problem but still decide to do active duty because they are scared of the public opinion. Some of them I guess is because they really want to serve, but something tells me is mostly the repercussions.
