I've seen them twice in their US concerts (for the Hi-5 sessions). They're great. The colorism comment happened when Rapmon was being interviewed, but it's a moot point since that happened via media, and not when fans were meeting the guys in person. Rather than saying, never meet your idols, it's probably better to never idolize a person. Like the person mentioned below, They're all human, and every single person has flaws. :)

You seem to have missed the point entirely. Why would it seem like i am equating them to be flaw free? rather just shielding myself from poetntial bad experiences not necessarily from the boys but organisers, people involved etc. Are you telling me racism is non existant in these countries?

I'm not sure if I'm the one who missed the point. I never even mentioned racism. I said the colorism comment, since you mentioned being disillusioned by their actions. You needing to shield yourself from potentially problematic behavior is equivalent to saying ' as long as I don't see it, then they haven't done anything wrong'. At least to me it reads that way.

If you were trying to say that you didn't want to see them live, and risk a bad experience with management, because the management would make you think badly of Bangtan, then that's different. Your words did not imply that. Your words read as if, seeing Bangtan in person would risk you witnessing Bangtan do something offensive, which would turn you away as a fan. If that is what you meant, then I was saying it's a moot point, because you come to Omona. If something shady happens, said idol(s) get dragged. You can't avoid it.

i can't believe they're even paying for the plane ticket too. i'd love to apply but like its such a short notice and i'm a bit suspicious of how legitimate this is - not saying that they won't go through with this plan but like i feel 3 weeks notice makes me nervous... then again my last overseas travel was to china and that took me 5 months to plan...

I just got into them and gdi I don't know how to feel about faves being so open and sharing so much of themselves. I've been staning TVXQ who are like a goddamned impenetrable fortress and then you have these assholes clamoring to show you how dumb they are. Ugh.

But seriously, I hope all this won't come back to bite them. Too many instances of celebrities innocently engaging fans have been burnt.

bangtan have always been very, very open when it comes to sharing stuff with their fans. their youtube channel is an example. i do realize that everything we get from them is a luxury that a lot of other groups don't do. i do worry sometimes but everything has been going great (as far as i know), so as long as they are still comfortable doing it than i'm happy.
i do hope this whole thing goes well though! it would suck if something went wrong when all they wanted to do is make it fun and interactive for the fans.

Tvxq way back then were also super engaging with the fans. To the extent that their fancafes knew way too much but they had the worst anti/obsessive fans as well. I think that and added to the fact how long they have been successful is why they keep their distance

I know they were more engaging & open to fans when they were still 5 days even when I wasn't a fan back then. But I think the split (and especially how the fans chose sides and treated Yunho & Changmin) is the reason why they are so careful of fan interaction now. Can't speak for the other 3 since I don't follow them.
