Statistically it makes complete sense considering SNSD is pretty much a household name in S.Korea. People are more likely to vote for who they know or who they've heard of.

I can see that...but I am more skeptical of their process of obtainin the random sample i.e. was people who gave them their information to begin with (like they volunteered for this survey) or is this like random polling in the states where it is a publicly listed email address? (Btw for whatever it's worth, i have no dog in the hunt so good for them. I am just automatically skeptical when it comes to surveys since many times they are skewed to suit the purpose of the publisher.)

Either way, SNSD should run for president...they would win by a landslide.

What happens is people can register with the KBS research site (you need a Korean SSN and once you're registered in you're in their "bank" until you decide to opt out) and then every week Music Bank selects a sample of the registered voters and allows them to vote. The sample selected has an even distribution of age and sex.

So it's not truly random in that there's a registered bank of voters and age and sex are taken into consideration when selecting the sample for the week but it's about as unbiased as you can get without simply cold calling.

II guess SNDS's fan cafe menbers decided to register, and since they have members from all age groups so the probability of getting included into the sample is most likely fairly high, as I doubt normal non-fans will bother register, especially from older age groups. This would also explain random SHINee appearance as they have also lots of older fans.

for big bang it's probably because they didn't make up with kbs until earlier this year and weren't ever really on nomination ballots, plus they hadn't released any new songs between 2013 - the end of 2014. for iu, the list, for some reason, doesn't include any releases from october - november 2013 and that was the last time she released a promo single.

idk why anyone thinks this isn't realistic when this part of the voting is flat out done at random pick and soshi's basically a household name in korea. people are going to pick the first name that they recognize when they're stumped and of course it's going to be snsd if they're mentioned. the others are easily explainable too: sistar is relatively well known, shinee is as well and has a lot of older fans, exid's was just as they were in their rise / their name was everywhere / that fancam was hitting big, ect.
