SONG MIN HO Champion On Charts: Only Rival to “Infinite Challenge”

25437_600.jpg

[OSEN=최나영 기자] SONG MIN HO is indeed the champion on many music charts.

SONG’s tracks showcased on “Show Me the Money 4” have been taking up slots in the top range of charts, garnering the highest level of popularity on the show.

“Fear” sang by SONG in the semi-final stage ranked #3 on South Korea’s largest music chart Melon as of 7am on Aug 29, being in the chart for an extended period of time. It also ranked #4 and #5 on Bugs, Naver Music and Genie. The other track “Turtle Ship” is also back in the ranking of charts.

“Okey Dokey” showcased together with producer Zico on Aug 28 became #1 on Mnet.com. “Victim + Cheer” also took up a slot in the top range.

SONG is the only artist to rival the tracks from the music festival by “Infinite Challenge,” which is quite notable.

In the final of “Show Me the Money 4,” SONG was up against Basick, and became the runner up.

[Focus IS] Music Charts a YG Minefield: Competitive but Still on Top

[일간스포츠=엄동진 기자] “Survival of the Fittest.”

August was the month determined by tracks of the music festival by Infinite Challenge. And yet YG survived. YG created another minefield in music charts with “Show Me the Money 4” and its artists. BIGBANG, continuing on from May, once again topped charts in August.

At 10am on Aug 29, the tracks from Infinite Challenge dominated the top range on charts. It can’t be helped. Experts predicted this to last for 2 or 3 weeks already. Infinite Challenge’s music festival has risen to a national level.

But apart from the 6 tracks from the music fest, the rest is dominated by YG. The representing one is from “Show Me the Money 4,” which is sang by SONG MIN HO featuring TAEYANG. The track “FEAR” is predicted to be a steady seller. #2 is SONG MIN HO’s “Okey Dokey.”

“INCREDIBLE” by JINUSEAN and TABLO from “Show Me the Money” is at #3. SONG MIN HO is also at #6 with “TURTLE SHIP.” YG’s top this August is certainly SONG MIN HO. It seems like YG should give SONG MIN HO a chance to be a solo.

#7 is BIGBANG’s “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE” that has been in the top 10 for precisely one month, while #8 is YG’s label High Ground’s Hyuk Oh’s “WIING WIING.”

From #10 to 20, BIGBANG’s “ZUTTER,’ SONG’s “CHEERS” and Hyuk Oh’s “Wari Gari” and BIGBANG’s “BANG BANG BANG” can be seen. Once again, August is dominated by YG. Something notable is that even Infinite Challenge’s tracks include YG songs. Charts of August is certainly a “YG minefield.”

One music producer said, “YG was involved in ‘Show Me the Money’ and ‘Infinite Challenge,’ which helps them continue on with YG power. September will be once again dominated by YG as PSY, iKON, WINNER, LEE HI, BIGBANG and CL will be out. Their dominance will be present until the end of the year.”

get money bitch.

but can someone explain to me which one brings more money, is it selling physical or digital?

depends on the company cause if you in SM you probably aint making no money from the million dollar sellers. I don't know why their fans keep bragging about that when luhan done stated he barely made any money.

i guess what i mean is just for the company itself. bc we all know those SK agencies are shady af, like who knows what kind of cut they make before the money goes to their artists. still, even for the company itself, i feel like physical is too much trouble to produce. even with fans bulk buy the album, if you can release digital and it sells well wouldn't it be much more cost effective?

well I mean it would probably be physicals but then again like I said it just all depends on the company. I think idols make most of their money from endorsements and touring.

My guess would be physical as well, because people rarely buy (but rather stream) songs, and when they do buy/stream it, it's mostly just the title song, while the rest of the album songs get buried. And charts change fast in sk, next week your song could be already out of the top 10 and who knows how the streaming numbers for nr 11 are?

Physicals on the other hand are priced much higher than a song (1$ vs 15$ for example) and fans who buy the physical albums also buy/stream the songs anyway, so...more money to the company!

Still, that's probably pocket change even for the company, throwing them at shows, cf-deals, etc. is probably more lucrative, because the cut's the same.

you're right about the fans buy both physical and stream the song. and it's a way to force buyer buy every song in that album instead of just one or two. but, price wise, i don't think you can compare the two, bc a lot of portion of physical album probably goes to production, distribution etc. but i do agree with your explanation.

charting well digitally usually means it's doing well publicly, which leads to CF offers and things like that, that's where's the big money.

that i agree. but does selling the song itself, digitally, brings more money? i guess that's what i'm wondering about.

Not really, but if you chart well digitally you will probably get a lots of radio play (in addition to CFs, events. etc) which does give you some actual nice royalties.

"YG SHOULD GIVE HIM A SOLO ASAP"

He's stuck in the basement with KSY, unless Tablosus saves them all.

Anyway, I liked his song with Taeyang and it was probably one of the few memorable ones this season after "Oppa Car" (or whatever it's called).

they're not really stuck in the basement. more like shipped to japan. again.

i agree, those two songs (and More Than TV Star) are my faves. i haven't listened to the ones from the last ep tho.

he and ksy are probably the ones from winner who'll get a solo in the future. maybe taehyun too, but for our ears' sake, let's hope not.

Fear was so good, it SHOULD be kicking the chart up and down.

Bang x3 is still on the charts? Well...people know a jam when they hear one, shrug, lol.
