Read this letter, my members.
How are you. I am doing fine. Military service really depends on your perspective of things. It’s tolerable if you think positively, and really hard if you are pessimistic. But, it’s really okay. Seriously. Butㅜㅜ duty is so hard..
Yuchun will be enlisted on 27th, right? Fighting to you, you will have great time as a trainee. And Junsu, you should make a lot of memories before enlisting next year.
After I enlisted, I realized that it was wrong to think that 2 years of my life would be wasted. It would make cherishable things more cherishing, and deepest thoughts, even deeper. It’s like reading many books, meeting and talking to different people. And you start to cherish the memories that come back as you tell our own story, too. (A week) before enlisting, Kyung-Gu hyung came over to music video shooting and told me many things about the military. One of the things he said was, “Jaejoong, think of the military service as repaying the debt you owe to this country you were born.” I think that makes sense. Because I was born in this country, I was able to meet you two and the fans who love us. I will work hard to repay this debt during the rest of my military service. It’s really worth it when I think about it this way.
I don’t worry about you two.
I know that as long as we keep trusting and relying on each other, we will be together for life.
You are the two people I respect the most.
You are the two people who warm up my heart the most.
You are the two people who are the most decent.
You two are the reason I live.
Let us be happier in the future. You two make hyung’s world worth living in♥

Letter read at the Japanese Fan Meet
How are you, it’s Private First Class Kim Jaejoong reporting, sir!
Is everyone doing okay? I’ve had the chance to meet some of you as I’ve been doing more diverse activities than I anticipated, and each time, I started to confuse the reality inside the army and outside the army, which gave me a hard time for exactly one day. But still, I was grateful that I got to see all of you.
I always think of you when I’m on night watch for an hour.
I always think of you when I’m on guard for 2 hours in the night.
I think of you when I’m sitting down and pulling out weeds.
I think of you when I’m eating bland food they serve at the cafeteria.
I always think of you when I am writing in my journal under the night lights before bed check, when I am cleaning up food waste after hundreds of soldiers, when I’m running the morning run at 6:30 in the morning half asleep.
I just miss you everyday.
My heart hurts every time I think about you and miss you, but I’m happier missing you. I think I am fortunate to have someone to rely on emotionally. The most difficult fight in here is the fight against loneliness. I’m not lonely but a happy man. Hahaha
I said I would become a better man in here but spending time with the young soldiers has been making me feel younger too. After service, I will live like a 23 years old. But I won’t be immature. I will take new challenges and make new accomplishments.
Oh, right, I am deployed out on ROKA event, and writing this letter on 3 boxes of frosted cornflakes cereal box because there’s no desk. My legs are asleep from crouching down. Hold on (30 seconds)

You are all healthy and doing well, right?
I’m really healthy and doing well, too.
Army life it’s not easy
but I’m trying my best to find joy here and get energized.
I miss many things in the outside world.
But time passes and when we meet again,
I know we will embrace each other more preciously.
I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it.
Missing someone and thinking about someone here
is like having relationship.
No matter how difficult the current obstacle is,
I’m confident that we will overcome it trusting each other
as we have done all along.
You are the source of my courage
and the subjects of my love.
I can feel your warm heart towards me even from afar.
Do you feel my ardent love that I’m sending you?
If you are not feeling it enough,
close your eyes and try to feel it.

Penzel Q Thank you

JS: Watching this CM again.. I can even imagine it.
MC: it became quite a topic (to talk about), but in actuality I believe, firstly you see the basis (of the CM) that this CM is like this. What did you think about it?
JS: but this CM. I hadn’t appeared in a television show even once, it was really after a long time I had showed my face in a television show
YC: with this CM that is.
JS: right, right, right.
MC: with this CM, after a long time..
JS: I showed it and..
YC: Penzel Q thank you!
JS: at that time, I was really, half asleep
MC: you were half asleep?
JS: I was half asleep and the script (of the CM), I hadn’t really seen it properly.
MC: hadn’t seen it and were half asleep.
JS: but then Jaejoong went in first to shoot (his part) and then (came) with many feelings of uneasiness and kept on saying that it was tough and that (YC: it was difficult) it was difficult to even say those lines form his mouth and then i showed him my script. He saw it and i said ‘for me, it’s this’. He said ‘work hard’ (Ganbatte). He said that for me, it was comparably better then.
MC: oh is that really so? What about Yoochun? Do you remember about this time’s shooting?
YC: I clearly, I clearly remember the time of this CM’s shooting. Jaejoong was the first to go shoot, next up was me and then Junsu was the last to shoot. In the middle of my shoot, the staff told me to pleaset ry once and say ‘penzel Q thank you.’ I said ahh no, can you give that to Junsu.
MC: it was like that?
JS: really? a lie. (T/N: ‘lie’ is used to show that you don’t believe what the other just said)
originally it was your line!?
YC: it wasn’t my line, it was Junsu’s line but it was that Yoochun try it once, if Yoochun’s is good we’ll use yours. they said it like that but I was ‘noo, (i don’t want to). I will entrust it to Junsu’
MC: Junsu’s (made us) a bit laugh but it was good right.
JS: i was really, in the start, it wasn’t with a energetic feel but it was like ‘penzel Q thank you’
MC: a bit refined. (in a) cool way.
YC: originally that is, originally what Junsu said was ‘penzel Q thank you’
JS: I did ‘penzel Q thank you,’ but the staff said ‘that’s wrong, it’s PENZEL Q THANK YOU!’ They kept on asking me to (do that). I worked hard and hard, it wouldn’t be laughable (otherwise). it wouldn’t be laughable if it wasn’t in a high tone feel (MC: high tone). So i just (went) and did it.
MC: everyone is asking you to do it. Just now you showed us a bit before, but once again with a higher tone feel
JS: really, in Korea, other than the fans (yoochun handing Junsu a tablet box), other than the fans, normal high school students, for example male high school students. If I meet such people, immediately after they see me they go ‘penzel Q thank you’

YC: Personally speaking, Junsu’s (hair) style that i like the most is a bit black, short (hair) and a bit done up. In the past that is, with that style, singing a ballad, You could die (watching that)

Thousands of excited fans stormed their way into Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul on Tuesday. The lucky fans, who were selected through random drawings, turned up for the crowning event of the group’s annual “Membership Week” to bid Park Yoo-chun a farewell for his enlistment Thursday. The event, which had been scheduled for two hours, went overtime by an extra two hours.
Sporting an “Inside Out” theme from the homonymous animated film, the event kicked off with the members singing the soundtrack of the film with modified lyrics. The members then walked up to the center of the stage and touched the magic balls made of “core memories” through which the group’s most memorable memories were screened on the supersized onstage screens. The memories, which reflected fans’ comments on the group’s Facebook page, included the times the versatile members won awards as well as when they topped local music charts. Park Yoo-chun burst into laughter when an old cringe-worthy ad was projected on the screen.
Along with special guest emcee Boom, the duo left fans in stitches while playing games including a hilarious “palm-pushing game” and “Pepero game,” where the two ate a stick cookie from opposing ends to make it as tiny as possible. As part of the penalty for the loser, the duo respectively tried playing a man who finally confesses his love, and a man who drops tears in the agony of parting. Park impressed fans as he shed tears in a split second.
Some of the fans were moved to tears when the two sang their hit tracks together.
What’s more heartwarming were Jae-joong’s surprise handwritten letters through which Kim sent his regards to his fans and the two remaining members. “My brothers, I love you so much. Let’s stay happy together,” wrote Kim, showing off the love toward his well-beloved friends.
The tearful event came to a grand finale with the duo’s special thanks to the fans.
“I’ve been saying this repeatedly, but I would like to thank you again. For me, it’s a heart-throbbing blessing to be able to spend every moment filled with your love and support,” said Park with equanimity, expressing hope for the three to come together on stage as an integral whole.
“Your support brought us here today. We’re much obliged to you for everything you have done for us,” Kim Junsu added.
“I’m set to serve my mandatory military duty starting from Thursday. It was the most precious moment in my life when the three of us (JYJ members) were together onstage. Please wait for the day of reunion.”
Fans with intense wistfulness called out his name, calling out, “We’ll be waiting, see you again in two years.” Some of them broke down and burst out sobbing when they sang the group’s doleful track “The Boy’s Letter” in return, pledging their genuine and abiding love for the trio.
“I couldn’t sleep last night. I was so excited to see them so close,” said Ko Mi-soo, a devoted fan of the group, adding she couldn’t get a wink of sleep until 9 a.m. after the heart-throbbing event. She further explained that the fans are in deep sorrow as there would be a long hiatus until all three members can get together as a whole.
The ongoing “Membership Week” held at Seoul Arts Museum in Buam-dong also encompasses an exhibition that showcases behind-the-scene photos of the JYJ members during drama shoots, track recordings and more.
Park is set to serve his two-year duty as a public service worker and will be stationed at a public office, substituting for the mandatory 21-month service term at a military camp due to his asthma.

Just days before military service begins, JYJ’s Yoochun teared up at JYJ Membership Week.
With military service looming around the corner (Aug. 27), JYJ’s Yoochun joined Junsu at the JYJ Membership Week on Aug. 25. With Jaejoong currently serving in the military, the two boys laughed and opened up with fans.
The highlight of the day was when the fans sang “Boy’s Letter” for Yoochun. This was the moment he lost it, and teared up.
“I say this all the time but it’s overwhelming to be the receiver of so much love,” Yoochun told fans.
He said that the song will live on in his memory and that he’d be back soon.
At the event, Junsu and Yoochun also read out a handwritten letter from Jaejoong who was conscripted last March. In the letter, Jaejoong said that he thought of his fans every day, and also addressed his “two favourite people” – Yoochun and Junsu, of course. To his bandmates, Jaejoong kept it simple. “Let’s continue to be happy.”

I'm so glad that both Jaejoong and Yoochun were able to spend their last few days playing around with the fans and just enjoying the company of those they care about and those who care about them.
I can't wait for Yoochun's first break from the army which I'm sure will be some sort of cheesy JYJ reunion complete with Jaejoong slipping soju into Junsu's sodas for...reasons...
