“Mix and Match” Contestant Yang Hong Seok Becomes Cube Entertainment Trainee

An exclusive report by Ilgan Sports has reported that Yang Hong Seok, who was a contestant in YG Entertainment’s reality show “Mix and Match,” has signed a contract with Cube Entertainment.

After deciding to leave YG Entertainment last March, he had been preparing to enter a new agency. Cube Entertainment has signed him on as a trainee and will likely aid him in debuting. An industry insider stated, “Yang Hong Seok is very talented. It’s regretful that he was eliminated from ‘Mix and Match,’ but it was mostly due to lack of experience. If he continues to practice consistently and build his skills, he will succeed.”

Yang Hong Seok had previously joined the reality survival program as the last member, but gained a lot of love and attention with his attractive looks and soulful singing.


Although he had initially decided to stay with YG Entertainment after being eliminated, he eventually parted ways with the agency.

He didn't fit the group or YG tbh, maybe he would have fit in Winner but not iKON. Hopefully he develops some type of stage presence though I doubt it. But good luck to him I guess.

Well congrats to him! He seems like a sweet kid but he definitely didnt fit yg or ikons image - it was jarring everytime he sang because while he was typically good and distinctive he was too stylistically different. And the editing didnt help either.

Can Cube pick up jinhyeong too?? :(

I bet jang hong seok will end up in cube boys that are supposed to debut 2016/2017, we'll see. Being a solo in cube sucks, look at g.na or basement babies noh ji hoon or shin ji hoon.

re: jino, apparently he signed smth for his fansite a few months ago saying 'just wait a little longer' so smth might be happening. for now him joining cube is just a rumour, but it was part of the same rumour going round about hongseok joining cube, so who knows. could be true.

tbh i thought he had quit idol life for good and just wanted to do musical acting...

apparently all cube soloists are working on comebacks rn, but yes, cube have completely mismanaged them and btob. :/

Congrats to him! While he is a good singer, poor kid has 0 presence and emotion -- more training will be good for him.
My only concern is his age. Unless cube has plans on debuting a boy group of some kind soon, he's gonna be a bit older for a rookie idol

It's good that he left YG, YG Ent wasn't going to debut a new boy band in a long while with the recent debut of Winner and the ever-pending debut of iKon.
Hong Seok would be waiting for 5+ years (unless he got a solo) in YG.

Plus he didn't fit with the concept of iKon and the group were still unsure of the group dynamics with his addition. He has such a sweet voice. I think Cube would be a better company for him instead of trying to force the YG 'Swag tough' concept.

I do hope that YG one day will accept that not all YG groups need to do that concept, it's so overused now. The only exceptions that escaped this fate were those from Talent survival shows.
