My only issue with the summer being so packed is that we’ll probably get a bland autumn. I get that kpop works with the seasons but it’d be nice to have a more uniform schedule so to speak and I actually think it would benefit the youngest, less known group to get their self out there.

On the Teen Top discussion, I think people are still bitter about Cap and their title track are not that great, they’re not exciting. And to be fair kpop is also about looks and Teen Top is on the average side, sorry.

I enjoy “shake it” more than I do “Heart Attack” mostly because of the live stage. Both songs are very summery but also generic as fuck. Brave Brother did right on the line distribution for AOA though, so that’s an up side compare to their previous eco friendly comeback.
That being said most of AOA/BraveBro title track sounds like Sistar’s “Alone” so it’s a bit difficult to say that AOA has better songs than Sistar when they’re basically the same. They’re pretty much tomato/potato for me. The execution is different but the songs are interchangeable.

My only thing about Wonder Girls is “CAN THEY PAY?”
I agree with the “IN YOUR FACE FNC (not AOA black)” but to be fait Wonder girls is a well established group AOA (and AOA black) were nugus. It’s a big group coming back not unknown girls debuting so not the same. BUT I do hope they succeed so FNC let AOA black out of the basement if only for a b-side or a digital single.

Autumn has kind of always been the time that nugu groups get a chance to come in and have an impact. A lot of big groups are on their hiatus during that time or are preparing a winter comeback so it's actually good that the summer is so packed because other groups can live in the "off" seasons.

I just think (speaking strictly on title tracks) their music sucks, it's very bland and nothing about them as a unit stands out to me. Like it's great that they're nice guys as Noah pointed out, but plenty of groups are now FULL of nice boys, so why should I care?

I really don't agree with this, everything sounds like alone though. It's like the minute a song has a tone of R&B all songs sound the same it seems like and I just don't agree. The only two songs that are close to alone is Confused and Miniskirt, and I think that of those only Confused and Alone are really close like they could have been both intended for the same album. Nothing about Shorthair, Like a Cat, or this new song reminds me of Alone at all. I agree that Brave Brothers have a familiar sound to all their tracks, but saying they all sound exactly alike is I think just a boat everyone has jumped on because their music is generic and caters to the masses nearly always. It's not like that Jahili Beats american producer that literally gave 5 artists the same beat.

I won't speak on the wonder girls thing because I really don't care about them or this comeback. It's cool that they're going to be on stage again that's rad, but I just can't be asked to care. I'll let all the wonderfuls on the podcast get hype about it haha.

The amount of people coming back is crazy, but summer time is the time for crazy dance tracks and whatnot, these groups trying to get that Summer jam hit. J

About Sistar and AOA new music:
I'm underwhelm by both, I'm not a huge girl group fan anyway, so I didn't have high expectations. I figure AOA would bring something good since I enjoyed Like a Cat, Mini Skirt and Confused....so when it came out I didn't have much reaction to the song beside holy monkey nuts is that a bright as video. Just so many colors. The song falls flat and the dance is just plain dumb. Like it really is. My friends 1 year niece could do better. Sistar track isn't too bad, I'll probably buy it and play it more then I do TMB, which I regret buying...there something I find really cheesy about it...might be the sax...

SM should have just done a Kibum(I like how he has become like the go to business plan when discussing what SM should be doing with artist that might want to leave) Pull Sulli out and just promote her as an actress, especially if that's what she wanted to do in the first place. They did the same thing to Siwon from SUJU as well. He wanted to act, but they were like...let's ship you to China...give you false hope of becoming an actor and put you with a bunch of our rejects.(I say this as a Super Junior fan...but they are rejects from other failed SM projects)

Yeah like I said in a previous comment, it's mostly that summer is a good time to sell music and promote, so all the big groups come back. It's also the BEST time for girl group sells because the summer image has always worked well for them.

Yep I think the general population is in your boa honestly. It's a lot of disappointment over two groups that typically have rocked their last images, (I mean sistar was made to make summer music even though their stuff like Alone and Give it to Me are excellent.) As the lesser of two evils I think Sistar wins, but only by a tiny unshaved leg hair that sometime might have missed.

I totally agree, it would make sense to have had Sulli step back and just promote as an actress. Maybe be there for MVs, but have little parts in the song so you don't have to worry about her being there. Unfortunately, SM doesn't have 10 other girls for you to look at surrounding sulli so that makes it a little hard.

About Sistar vs Aoa.

Both songs suck. Aoa seem to be doing better in views and physical sales, while sistar is doing better digital.. For the same lyrics issue in chocolate, they actually referenced a lot of past Aoa songs including bits from like a cat, so it is not like she is recycling lyrics. Also, she isn’t credited for writing the lyrics for chocolate. I think it is tacky for them to include it in the song, but whatever don't drag jimin for it.

The difference between aoa black and WG coming back as a band is that WG is well established and loved in Korea, and aoa black was like who are these nugu girls. You can't really compare the two. I just wonder if they can actually play instruments. I know aoa can actually play instruments, you just never see it cause fnc and music shows don't let them play live.

I think SNSD is on decline, sure, but they will still be the biggest girl group ever in Korea. No group will ever reach their level at their peak. And even with them declining, it is still like SNSD |wall | 2NE1 | wall | all the rest whatever. And while both SNSD and 2NE1 are declining, I think that they set a high standard of what a top tier group should be.

Sistar will never be top tier. Digital sales sure, but you can't be top tier when you don't have fans to come to a concert.

I find it absolutely hard to believe that just because her name isn't on the credit that she didn't do her own rap. The fact that it is SO much like what she always does, and so much like the song she just got done writing I would really be surprised if someone ELSE wrote it and recycled her lines. They didn't used to always credit TOP when he would write his raps for old Big Bang songs so I wouldn't be surprised if because her part was small they didn't bother.

Even if they can play instruments, they'll be faking it on air because music shows are hard pressed to ever let bands play live. But I agree, it's only because they're well established that they can even come back as a band, and I also wonder if they can actually play and are talented musicians like AOA Black.

I totally agree on the SNSD thing btw, I think people are fire selling too early, but it's clear that most of the girls are beyond idol age now, the fact that they've come this far is incredible as is.

She did write the lines in Puss, which is the lines used in chocolate. They also referenced miniskirt and short hair, and then added the 'Sappunsappun georeoga' part from like a cat. I think thats why I have a problem with people thinking jimin is recycling her rap in chocolate when that song is full of references from their old songs. I think that was kinda their point.

Her lyric writing skills isn't the greatest. But i mean, get money girl. At least they are getting paid now, I think. I hope.

Maybe thats what they have been doing for the past god knows how long on hiatus, learning how to play instruments.

The girls will be fine. It is hard to top what they achieved. They just want the last few pay cheques before going off and doing whatever, and hopefully not marrying baekhyun. Taeyeon reevaluate your taste plz.

The problem with Jimin that people have expressed is she says the same shit in every song always. Now that she has a half decent song in Puss people are defending her but even her puss song, and her song with that dude say basically the same lines with minor changes in a word. She's so hot, she's the top madam, she's so sexy etc. It's tired and old. If it was the point or not it came off wack and that's my complaint.

In the end of the day it's always get money like even if I complain they're still gonna get money, and it's not even that I HATE Jimin, I just think she's getting a lot of shine when she's not talented enough for how much she gets. I would rather someone else who has written straight bangers get more love like LE. It's all personal preference in the end.

Maybe, I wouldn't be surprised to be honest, they've had enough time to learn at least one song I'm sure.

I thought the rumor was her and Baekhyun split up or some shit? Or is that just Tiff and Nickhun?

I love sistar but I'm right there with you. Their top tier of the lower tier groups, they sell well and they're popular so you can toss them in the conversation of the lesser juggernauts. Outside of the established power houses of 2ne1 and SNSD, I would put them on that crust below them, you could argue that they're more popular outside of promoting as the group SISTAR tho.
