Investigations are taking place regarding malicious rumors about EXID′s Hani.

On February 26, the Gangnam Police Department′s Cyber Crime Investigation team told Newsen, "We received the report and are beginning investgations. It′s difficult to reveal any details regarding the investigation."

Earlier in February, Hani suffered from being the main focus of a malicious rumor. Hani′s agency decided to confront the issue, saying it will take legal action against people spreading false rumors about Hani and more.

Hani′s agency stated that the rumors have nothing to do with Hani and she will continue to focus on her promotions.

good. i'm glad her agency is taking action, cause that will show people that she really isn't involved in this (and even if she was, it's not something worth ruining someone's career over).

it's just stupid that calling a celebrity a ho on the internet is a ~cyber crime~.

yeah, there's a line between taking the piss and defamation & harassment. i don't know if the ex-gf of that shithead from SS501 will be filing but she's was called a prostitute, escort, gold-digger, etc. fuck that shit no one should have to deal with that bullshit on top of what he and his company was trying to do.

or the park shi hoo case where someone posted a random girl's picture as the victim and that shit spread everywhere.

they also do investigations for regular civilians. i think it's a good thing compared to the US where we have revenge porn/pics/rumors posted and you can barely do jack shit with what's been posted about you.

Wow that's pretty fast for a rumour to be taken under police investigation.
Hope Hani is mentally okay with the sudden hype and attention to her (and the rumours too).

I'm glad. That kind of rumour would be constantly brought up in a negative way as fact. People are very gullible, and also like to follow the hate bandwagon. People's idol lives have been tarnished for less.

the rumour source is the blind item, isn't it?
well it isn't said hani's name at all,
but i'm glad they're taking this seriously because rumour will keep spreading around her, and if she didn't do it, it will be mentally exhausting

it's still strange to me how online slander is illegal in SK. i almost think, maybe it wouldn't be as much of a problem if people didn't take it so seriously. but who knows.

there are online communities like jukbbang where they actively make up shit about someone and spread it around other popular websites for funsies~ it's pathetic all around, i'm glad idiots can get fined.

it's hard to imagine that kind of thing happening with US artists. i mean ppl still make up shit about celebrities (like lady gaga having a dick or w/e) but even if it gets widespread ppl don't really take it seriously. if an artist or company came out saying they were gonna combat a certain rumor it would just make it seem more credible.

well yeah south korea isn't the us. i like this part about s. korea more than the us. but i don't see how filing a report with the police isn't combating a rumor.

yeah, that's exactly what it is. what i'm saying is, from my US perspective filing a police report and actually fighting the rumor makes it seem more like there's truth to it. but i'm aware that it's a diff culture

I think SK works way different than the US, because a rumour can literally destroy a career there. Tablo's Tajinyo comes to mind. His company did practically nothing and Tablo even showed proof but people still didn't believe him and he had to stop being an idol for awhile until YG picked him up.

yeah i get it. this is likely why international fans comments are sometimes always so different from netizen comments. korea's still largely a homogeneous society. a rumor like that could destroy your reputation and/or career. someone from the us might find that fact boggling, but it's true.

Many people do take any kind of rumour seriously. In many cases, reputation is everything especially if you are a woman in the entertainment industry. If her company didn't do anything to counter the rumour, I bet you 3 years from now, someone would still be bringing up this rumour as fact.

It may be easier if you think of this in term of loosing potential future income. There are advertisers who will not pay for Hani or Exid to promote their stuffs because she's not longer "pure". She's "tainted". Aren't advertising and concerts(which many groups never get big enough to do, especially female groups) are the biggest source of income.

Hani/Exid already have to keep on smiling whenever people bring up their dance, and that video. They tend to look uncomfortable. I do not want to imagine people/MC asking Hani about that rumour for months to come, in the hope that she will slip up and they get higher rating due to "stupid scandal".

this blind item

Idol A is the sex toy of a married middle aged actor B

A popular girl group member who only just started earning popularity (albeit late) is found to be having an affair with one of the country's top middle aged actors. Their relationship started at the beginning of A's debut and the newfound fame hasn't gotten to A's head, as she'll go out whenever she is called by B for their sexual relationship. B has a perverted side to him that A fulfills and their relationship is already widely known by insiders of the industry. Everyone is amazed at A for being able to handle such a man.
