Is how KBS response to them seems to be like 'great! these nicknames are perfect, let us go forth and use it for everything!'

If it was just a onetime moment of 'oh isn't that funny, we've all been given nicknames about our dark skin', I would have merely felt bad for them because those nicknames are really colorist (and Hyunsik seemed really defensive about his nickname since he was quick to chime in that he's gotten lighter so I wonder how much shit he's had to deal w/ as a kid).

they talk about how all 3 of them have a nickname with "heuk" (meaning black in korean) in it because they apparently had dark skin when they were young? and they go on laughing about it and calling themselves heuk3, how it suits them because they like "black" music and one of them says he wanted to be black when he was younger etc etc..

i don't mind the nicknames that much to be honest. it's shame they all have obviously dealt with alot of colorist shit but they don't seem to mind it and seem to embrace their tanner skin with those nicknames.

hyunsik jumping in he got lighter is sad, im pretty dark and colorism didn't really get to me until i was older and it's fucking me up rn, i can't imagine dealing with it from early childhood

edit: i only watched the first part so if they get messier w/ the names then let me know.

i remember seeing hyunsik fansites getting called on whitewashing him but sadly nothing as changed
anyways there's this video of "darker" btob members talking about thir skin. i think it was the one and only time it was brought up ever in my history of stanning btob and it was in rather positive way.

im glad it's not self deprecating. i love when ppl embrace their darker skin especially since we live in a world that views dark skin in such a negative light. sigh.
