Choi Jin Hyuk to enlist in the first half of 2015

It has been reported that actor Choi Jin Hyuk expects to enlist in the military during the first half of 2015.

Choi Jin Hyuk hopes to enlist as early as possible as TV Report states that, “Choi Jin Hyuk will be enlisting in the army and is currently aiming for a February enlistment date.”

Currently, the actor is working on the MBC legal drama, Pride and Prejudice, alongside Baek Jin Hee and Choi Min Soo, which recently wrapped filming and will finish airing this month.

The 29 year-old actor expressed his thanks to the production team saying, “Sincerest thanks to the seniors and staff who worked on this drama.” He continued, “Everything still feels surreal.
While working on this project, everyone was telling me, ‘Go to the army.’ Now that this project is done, I can go to the army comfortably.”

Choi Jin Hyuk was especially busy this past year after completing his supporting role in the hit drama Heirs. At the beginning of 2013, Choi Jin Hyuk starred opposite Song Ji Hyo in tvN‘s romantic comedy Emergency Couple. He then had roles in dramas Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit, Fated to Love You, and movie The Divine Move, before starring as the male lead in Pride and Prejudice.

He had no real career until 3 years ago
had he enlist earlier he would have left a nobody and came back a nobody

I agree, but more like 1.5 years ago tbh. He didn't have a real career until Gu Family Book, April of 2013. At least in terms of name recognition within Korea, he was definitely struggling. GFB was his breakout role.

As for his army decisions, I think most of it was just the media jumping the gun and speculating when he'd enlist, just solely because of how he looks contrasted to his actual age. I remember they thought he was a 85-er when he was in the 86-line.

But I'm glad he switched his plans from celeb enlistment to actual army enlistment. Unless for health reasons, I side-eye the celebs that take the celeb route. Man up and take the normal enlistment.

Yeah he mentioned in an interview that he had a chance to go to the army early with his friends, but back then he had just moved to Seoul and started pursuing a career in the industry. At the time he had just won that 2006 acting competition, so he thought his career would take off, but it didn't. As time went on and his career was at a standstill, he couldn't give up, because he was still working for that big break. He finally got it in 2013 with Gu Family Book, but then he had to enlist. Still, it's better to go to the army when the public knows who you are than when they had no clue who you were.

I thought he would go after EC, but then he did FTLY. .and after that PP. seriously, he did his best to make money before enlisting. u would not be surprised if he did two more dramas till his enlistment date.

That sound you hear is me weeping because it's finally official that he's going to enlist soon. All the other times were news outlets and the media jumping the gun and speculating because of his age (though he's only 28 - just looks more mature than his real age), but now he's officially confirmed it. WEEPS.

I'm glad he managed to squeeze in Pride and Prejudice right before his enlistment. He's going off on a high note, so hopefully when he comes back he'll have an easier time finding roles. His role in P&P as Dong Chi was tailor made for him. MBC must be super happy to have him as one of their golden boys. He had all sorts of the right combo: moral conviction, smexy, kickass, charismatic, and most importantly snarky with his intelligence and narcissism. He surprised me with how he held his own against Choi Min Soo (who was FANTASTIC in P&P as Chief Moon).

2014 was a good year for him. I liked Emergency Couple (Baby Gook FTW) and really enjoyed P&P. Even though he played a villainous lackey in The Divine Move, it was awesome to see him get his inner villain on (will not lie, he was hot as eff across Jung Woo Sung and held his own too) and I really liked seeing him fight choreo (another reason why P&P rocked for letting him use his choreo training from TDM). Hated Fated to Love You for him though, despite me loving his character, he's waaaay beyond 2nd lead status. I only want to see him play leads from now on, and the xext time he plays 2nd lead, it better be an awesome villainous role (kinda like Dark Wol Ryung).

Ever since he played Gumihot Daddy in Gu Family Book, it's been awesome to see his career take off the way it has, especially considering how long he toiled in the industry before landing that breakout role. I watched him in soooo many below mediocre dramas (Hello to I Need Romance, Panda and Hedgehog, It's Okay Daddy's Girl), and while GFB wasn't the greatest drama or anything, Wol Ryung was the best thing about that drama. Same goes for Heirs. I liked him and his character a lot in Heirs, but he was criminally underused as was like 90% of that cast and their first world problems.

Thankfully he has time to hold a couple fanmeets to say goodbye and he still has one more project in the works. It'll be the only thing tiding us over before he returns from his enlistment. I think he'll have a new Japanese vampire movie that will be released in April. Yes, VAMPIRE. UNF. After seeing him play Dark Wol Ryung, he's definitely going to rock being a vampire. Or at least, I hope so.

He really hustled last year, I was amazed at how many shows he did and often back-to-back too.

Really happy that he managed to get to where he is now and I hope he has an awesome enlistment. I'm sure there'll be plenty of people now waiting for when he comes out.

Leaving on a good note. I really liked Pride and Prejudice even if it slowed down in the middle and lost a little of steam in the ratings race.
