Song Joong-ki and Yoon Si-yoon increase their image value after joining army

Actor, Song Joong-ki raises income over one billion won even after joined national service, thanks to renewed contracts for TV commercials

Song Joong-ki was ranked #5 in the list of the top celebrities who benefited from serving the national army according to tvN TV show, 'E News'.



Top five also includes Jang Hyeok, Sung Si-kyung, Oh Jong-hyuk, Yoon Si-yoon and Ji Seong.

Song Joong-ki decided to join the national army on August 27th, 2013 all of sudden, while he had more than 10 contracts for TV commercials thanks to the big success of 'The Innocent Man' and 'A Werewolf Boy'.

His value and popularity went up even higher after he joined the army. After the entertainment soldier system was cancelled due to the incident some of the soldiers used massage parlors while serving military, he joined the army as a regular solider for the first time among actors, singers and other entertainers alike. Because of this, he drew much attention at the time. Contrary to his soft image, he was deployed to the Reconnaissance Corps, which is famed with intense training.

The military recognized his earnest service and had him to host an event by Ministry of National Defense, which took place in China. When his photo from the event was released, people said he became even more impressive.

Song Joong-ki emerged as a sought-after celebrity for TV commercials before he joined the army. He had contracted more than 10 TV commercials including cosmetics, outdoor goods, and smartphones. He earned 500 million won per each contract of the TV commercials. All of the contracts were renewed even during the time he has been serving the military and he still has been earning much income.

He was chosen as the 7th star to have increased his image value for volunteering into the Marine Corps after Hyeon Bin, Oh Jong-hyuk and Lee Jeong.

Yoon Si-yoon became famous with "Love, Bread and Dreams". He then appeared in 6 different advertisements and joining the Marines was a plus to his image.

Currently on duty, Yoon Si-yoon has been doing his best and even had the chance to take the oath on behalf of his unit.

Other actors that were introduced to have had a jump in image due to their military service include Jo In-Seong, So Ji-sub, Gong Yoo, Yoo Seung-ho, Kang Dong-won, Yoo Yeon-seok, Hyeon Bin and more.

Can I know why Yoon Siyoon value that much? I have nothing against him since I actually like him but after Baker King, he barely act in any successful drama like Joo Won.

But really, mostly all actors after the army increase their values. It shows how much Koreans look seriously about this matter.

But Jang Hyuk will forever surprise me after he completed his military service. He truly repented his mistakes and won many army awards while serving (which make him an ace in basically everything in Real Men 8D). And the choices of his dramas post army have been magnificent in term of quality and he become an even more outstanding actor after that. His acting prior to his MS is bad -- now I honestly thought he is one of the most versatile actors from Korea.

i think yoon shi yoon's baking drama did really, really well in China. I'm not sure how his other dramas have done.

Yeah, I know. Baker King did realllllly well in Korea (rating around 50%). But only that drama did well out of all his filmography and it was like 4 years ago. So to think he still value that much even after series of unsuccessful drama is just amazing.
