I just binge watched all the episodes and my take from this is that YG is /really/ smart.
Even tho a lot of people wanted Jinhyung, I think having Chanwoo in the group was YG's solution to wanting to debut OT6, but still justify the program. Chanwoo could very likely be that perpetually missing member because of acting conflicts.

One thing that would've made the program really interesting (and probably a lot crueler) would've been YG announcing that iKON could be anywhere from 3-7 members. Like if Yunhyung, Donghyuk & Junhoe hadn't improved/stepped their game up and the 3 new guys hadn't proved their worth, YG would've debuted Golden Trio as is. I feel like even though the YDJ were technically competing for spots, for me, there wasn't the actual feeling that they all could potential be axed. And the only one of the 6 I was 100% wanting to be in the final lineup was Yunhyung, I think he's got the most to offer for the group.

Junhoe: I hope he gets more vocal training. While his tone is nice and low it isn't always smooth esp during the ENL perf
Donghyuk: has a sweet voice and great musicality, but if he was in a different group, he'd be appreciated more for his talents

People are speculating Chanwoo will be the first to leave a group in YG to go act full time in a couple of years but I doubt it...that was like the first question Hanbin asked him. Any activities would probably be around the group for the first few years

Well, BI has probably no say in whether or not Chanwoo gets acting gigs, leader or not. For right now at least, Chanwoo has the potential to be like TOP -- acting outside of the group in a serious way (as opposed to other idol actors) but considering his role is very much smaller than TOP's is, it wouldn't be as much of a loss if he skipped out on promotional periods

i'd been rooting for hongseok but in kind of a detached way because the problems with the show have kept me from really ~feeling~ anything too strongly (esp since i knew nothing about the group coming in) plus it became pretty obvious what the outcome was gonna be.... but everything changed with the tears )))): why'd you have to cry ))))): idk i got the sense he knew he wasn't gonna make it and that just made me really sad. i really hope he gets to debut soon.

on another note can they just keep putting out unreleased cuts until the group actually debuts

thanks for the extra positive screen time on the last ep /after/ people had alr voted. nice!!! anyway this was truly one of the most bittersweet eps. the gift giving was cute af, chanwoo’s was really thoughtful & lmao x1000 at hongseok’s gifts (mr potato head toy + face slimmer BYE), how does junhwe even survive having so much trouble expressing normal human affection, and then the surprise birthday video and the sleepover etc… you could see they really got close to one another ;;;

i teared up so badly watching hongseok cry ;w; how he knew he didn’t stand a chance but still tried his best, and how he finally let himself be so emotional right at the end bUT STILL TRIED TO SMILE broke my heart fffff. how his mom apologized for opposing his dream of singing, him finally having the chance to achieve it just for the show to portray him so negatively kills me. i also can’t at the fact that it took some tears for people to finally be sympathetic towards him… gimme a break. god i’m going to be bitter forever. at least, hs/jh have gained a fan base and hopefully they’ll debut soon (smh yg u better). it’s just so much more painful rooting for them, bc at least i knew that with team b, it was 98.5% likely they would debut whole but who tf knows what will happen to these kids.

overall tbh m&m was such an inferior survival show compared to WIN; it was doomed to be shitty the moment they decided to pit well known trainees with big fan bases against newbies who had minimal training. add in some terribly entitled team b fans, zero background stories, negative and unequal editing, too much focus on the 3 /confirmed/ trainees + cw & group performance centric episodes with v little candid moments = serious wtf. m&m did endear me to more of the members, it also showed me certain sides of some that i didn’t really care for, but!! i did notice growth in character by the end which i could rly appreciate esp in junhwe.

m&m was a product that i knew was essentially noise marketing, that it was a dumb idea to invest emotions in the new trainees but as bobby (ultimate sweetheart!!!!) said, it’s scary how easy it is to get attached :c (cries a million tears for all the bobbseok moments). wish i never watched this show but eh i did truly enjoy some moments. tbh whatever the line up had turned out to be, ikon was gonna be successful no matter what and so I’m looking forward to seeing how things will pan out from now~

I caught myself being surprised at seeing Hongseok being all over Bobby+Jinhwan during the sleep over, and then i realised that's because they never showed that side of his!

Seeing Hongseok and Jinhyeong saying how attached they got, and generally how sad they were was hard dammit.
Bobby hit the nail on the head with his comment about getting attached, that precious boy.

On a lighter note, lol i'm so intrigued by Junhwe's inability to show affection, bless!

haha i wasn't so much surprised, as bitter because there were many bts instances of the boys being close but a lot of it was cut out. it really goes to show how popular media (since not many ppl will access fancams etc) can really influence our perspectives though and i hope with m&m people recognize that (albeit late...)

it was damn sad tbh. but i think hongseok had a fairly positive outlook over the whole process, for me it seemed like he wasn't crying out of frustrations, he actually said it was the most memorable time of his life, and crying because he didn't want to say goodbye ;w; and that actually hurt me even more. i do hope by them staying on at yg, that won't stop them from seeing the ikon boys occasionally.

It drove the whole -just because we didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen- point home even more, regarding the kids getting close with each other.

I do hope they'll get to see each other too.
On one hand i'm really glad they stayed in YG, esp because that's what they wanted apparently, but at the same time i'm so worried.
Mainly because i can't see how YG will use them soon-ish, having two new boygroups, and with the new gg on the way. :(

I admit he's the member of the original 6 that took me the longest to warm to, but recently he has grown on me as well!
Loool the moment they announced what the prank's gonna be, i knew he was gonna be like that!

True, at the very least they have a year to take advantage of YG's resources while figuring things out.
I like to hold some hope that maaaaybe he'll figure something out, just because he seems to be slightly more open about giving chances to people that wouldn't traditionally be considered YG material.

I go through these moments as well, where i'm like is this an actual thing or am i just wishing really hard, lol!
But i do like to think that there is a chance he might actually see something in them.

And yeah akmu, lee hi, and all the units etc being given a chance, and actually doing well is a huge part of that.
(as well as the fact that Jinseok do have some sort of fanbase already, because this is YG we're talking about here!)

Aw that would be nice tbh, i'd love that, and it would suit them!
I would like tho if he could start using them in any capacity, you know as a sign that they're not completely left in the dungeon!

Poor Hongseok :(. He got more screentime in the first 10 minutes of this episode than in all the other eps combined :((

The secret santa thing and the sleep over were so cute, and it showed a different dynamic between them than we'd seen before tbh. Final confirmation of the very biased editing.

Anyway. I'm glad this is over, bring on iKON tv!!!

Also I've finally admitted to myself that I'm a Yunhyeong stan. It's been brewing for a long time but I was blinded by my love for Bobby but I can't resist Yunhyeon anymore, he's just so lovely ;_______;

Another Yunhyung stan yeeeeesss I didn't pay much attention to him during WIN (other than how good looking he was) but hearing that growth in his vocals thru M&M has me /hooked/ like, slay a bit yoyo

Yeah same i only noticed him during WIN bc he was so good looking, but I also remember really liking his part in Climax, he sounded really good imo. Then i bought the WIN dvd where he showed much more of his personality and it really endeared him to me (it also helped a little bit that i got his photocard with the DVD lol).
But his massive improvement between WIN and M&M and his lovely personality sealed it for me. I'm an out and proud Yunhyeong stan now lol. ~~i should make a yunhyeong icon now....~~
