YANG HONGSEOK (20) and JUNG JINHYEONG (17), who lost in a survival audition to select the members of YG Entertainment (“YG”)’s new boy group iKON (B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, JUNG CHANWOO, and KIM DONGHYUK), have confirmed their stay at YG.
According to a high-level insider of YG on the 10 in the morning, YANG HONGSEOK and JUNG JINHEYONG were interviewed by YG’s head YANG HYUN SUK and YG accepted their wish to stay at YG.
The insider said, “YANG and JUNG strongly expressed their wish to stay at YG, in a meeting with YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK. YANG thought YANG and JUNG who had not been the members of “WIN” Team B lost in “MIX & MATCH” to select the member of iKON, not because they lacked in talent but because their time of training YG was shorter. Furthermore, the two had strong wish to stay at YG, so Mr. YANG decided to give them additional opportunity”.
“YANG HONGSEOK and JUNG JINHYEONG will be provided with music and choreography training room at YG for the next one year, to further develop their talent. Whether they will make debut through YG will be decided after then, so their debut as YG artist depends on their efforts from now on”, added the insider.
YANG and JUNG demonstrated their unique character and outstanding talent in Mnet’s survival audition show MIX & MATCH designed to select the members of iKON, but they failed to join iKON until the end of the show on the 6 this month. So, the two have failed in the survival audition and their future has drawn a big attention from MIX & MATCH fans, because YANG HYUN SUK had said that those who fail to be the member of iKON may have to leave YG.
However, as YANG and JUNG’s stay at YG has been confirmed now, fans who supported them can make themselves comfortable.
Meanwhile, “WIN” Team B members: B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, and KIM DONGHYUK, as well as new-face trainee JUNG CHANWOO who acted as the young Lee Min Ho in KBS 2TV’s drama series “Boys over Flowers”, have been confirmed as the members of iKON.
iKON with seven confirmed members set the target of making official debut in January next year, and will dedicate themselves to working on debut songs, except for performing on the opening stage of YG senior singer BIGBANG’s Japan dome tour.
iKON will be performing on the opening stage of YG senior BIGBANG’s Japan dome tour that will have total 15 concert in five cities including Nagoya where the tour starts on the 15 this month, then Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Tokyo until mid-January in 2015.
So basically, he'll keep them locked up for a year and then drop them?

Date: 2014-11-10 08:15 am (UTC)oh well. In the end it was their decision to stay.
I honestly dont think they'd ever debut under YG (within a year too no less) so i guess after their 1 year contract is up they could then transfer to another company maybe??

Date: 2014-11-10 08:20 am (UTC)what im just anxious of is that he's just saving his ass rn so as not to drop them whilst they have a lot of public interest, but then giving them false hope and letting them go at year end when their hype has died out which we all know that he's capable of. but ig it's a good chance to hone their skills... so we'll see...

Date: 2014-11-10 08:26 am (UTC)If I were them, I would get the hell away from YG and his megashitty in the limbo management. They will be in the bassement, just like others (trainessor as some of his artists) and then these guys will face a more uncertain future than they do now.

Date: 2014-11-10 08:37 am (UTC)stating the obvious. They lost because you've made them compete with people who've had longer period of training and are 100x more popular than them. Expecting them to win over Team B original members is just evil YG, evil.
Anyway I'm glad that they're staying, cos I think they'll get good training there in YG. But when will they get to debut? YG's a busy company. Don't think there's room for any more debut within this short period of time. I'd say, if YG doesn't want u guys anymore, it's his lost, so steal YG's resources and go debut from another company guys
... but another side of me wants them to be a part of YG's family forever with the iKON boys *self conflicted*

Date: 2014-11-10 08:45 am (UTC)srsly he should be fucking ashamed of being so greedy. jinseok won't debut with ikon not bc of lack of training but because he didn't want them in and gave them zero chances.

Date: 2014-11-10 09:34 am (UTC)Possible plot twist #2: In the one year, JinSeok have started to show learn their own way in composing and writing their own songs, YG lets them debuts as a duo, they become the more successful, vocally-talented YG version of JJ Project, where they steadily gain popularity singing fun, energetic pop-rock tunes written by Jinhyung featuring a collab with Seungyoon and maybe Yunhyung, or R&B ballads done the FTTS way written by Hongseok that Koreans love. But either way they roll in the fame and $$$ and all JinSeok fans are happy campers, cue for YG to step in and tells us it was all part of his genius plan from the start to debut them together but decided they needed to learn the hard way.
/Bad jokes aside as a fan of both the boys it's a complicated feeling seeing this outcome. At least in the next year we know they'll have a place to "belong to" per se and and also access to YG's relatively bountiful resources to keep on improving and learning. But then we all know realistically now that YG has finally managed to get Double B and Co. ready and set for debut and Pink Punk should finally be a priority for 2015 lbr most likely he's not going to bat them an eyelash by the time the year is up.

Date: 2014-11-10 09:42 am (UTC)they need more training, especially hongseok. why not do it in YG? but i'm surprised YG's letting them stay if he has no intention of debuting them.
Hongseok might have a career as a solo ballad singer, but i doubt that's gonna work in YG, and Jinhyeong... idk.

Date: 2014-11-10 11:41 am (UTC)They'll get to use YG's resources for a year and if they're smart they'll take away as much knowledge as they can. Hongseok in particular needs a LOT more vocal training and dance training and maybe Jinhyeong can work on his confidence in performances and learn about song production to make himself more appealing to other companies.
Hey, at the end of the year they might improve so much YG decides to keep them around. I'd love if they could become the YG version of Fly To the Sky as someone else noted above. Slow Korean RnB and ballads could work for both of their voices.
But lbr, that won't happen. YG is just doing this to seem less cruel.

Date: 2014-11-10 12:02 pm (UTC)On one hand i like that he kept them in the company, since they both seem to want to be there, plus we can keep hope that YG might use them here and there, so we won't forget what they look like! ;)
On the other hand tho, with Ikon debuting and the girls slooowly coming, i can't see YG investing on a new boygroup anytime soon.

Date: 2014-11-10 12:44 pm (UTC)They need more training either way and Jinhyeong could go to Yedam's group or YG gets more trainees after KPS4 ends
Modeling and Acting are also option in the midterm. Hongseok was in a model group during the JYP auditon he was in with Donghyuk
They could also go back to school while training if they get a set schedule

Date: 2014-11-10 01:24 pm (UTC)YG only accepted her so they could have bragging rights to having an actual black person in the agency and he did the exact same thing with her after they broke up the group they were going to place her in: he kept her in for a while and then once most of the public forgot about her, she was dropped instantly.
And because the hype was gone and she wasn't "a true Korean" (wtfever, k-netz), when she finally released a single, it flopped despite positive reviews.
These poor boys are probably going to suffer the same fate...
~JYP, you're my last hope~
