Date: 2014-11-03 04:42 pm (UTC)I know he will definitely still have A LOT of problems with the public. He shat on their collective
lifestyle-bonding-uber-propaganda-culturemale right of passage by not going into the military.no subject
Date: 2014-11-03 04:50 pm (UTC)so people with conditions (like spinal injuries, asthma, etc.) that would have gotten them public service or exemption (and deserved to) before mc mong scandal had to serve in the military.
he could've gone into the military after the trial as well, because the court says while he's innocent for the charges, he can still go since the age limit is 35 - he supposedly went into "repent" period for five years until he passed that age.
there's also accusation that he's actually double sidekick and the reason he has so many featuring artists is because he wrote songs for them. so in reality those five years have really been him making money under a pseudonym.
idk, i guess it's another case of can celebrities who's committed crimes be welcome back into the scene, but it's not just netizens being pissy about silly little thing.

Date: 2014-11-03 04:57 pm (UTC)So I am not coming from a congratulatory place. I understand that there are countries like S.korea, Israel, and other that have involuntary military service, BUT I don't believe in the idea of forcing people to go into any branch of the military.
It has nothing to do with him being a celebrity. I don't like that it is not voluntary.

Date: 2014-11-03 05:00 pm (UTC)and the reasons korean men are so mad isn't because mc mong isn't joining their crew or whatever, they hate the involuntary service as much as mc mong does, the reason they're pissed is because celebrities like him get away with stuff like this.

Date: 2014-11-03 05:04 pm (UTC)The american's have a large volunteer military and don't draft unless absolutely necessary.

Date: 2014-11-03 06:30 pm (UTC)the thing is i'm not defending sk's military system nor disagreeing with you that involuntary service sucks.
the truth is mc mong snuck his way out of something through illegal means and you can't just say netizens are being pressed for him not conforming or whatever. he's used his fame to do something civilians can't do.

Date: 2014-11-03 06:03 pm (UTC)his title track makes me sick, i can't believe people are actually welcoming him back
speaking of mandatory military service, it was abolished in my country like five years ago and that was a totally wrong decision. esp if the country still has unfinished business with their neighbours.
i have a genetic illness that attacks my muscle and basically makes me super weak physically. my brother has it worse than i do and still had to prove it countless times when he was called for military. people who try to sneak out illegally, making it harder for others with legit injuries shouldn't be forgiven that easily.

Date: 2014-11-05 02:16 am (UTC)1. areum (ex-t-ara member) wrote on her instagram thanking mc mong for writing junwon diary and then deleted it later
2. lyn asked the audience at her concert if they didn't know mc mong was double sidekick (and actually said it on the radio, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5bgPzeokcs)
3. so double sidekick actually has four members (instead of two who are known to public, janggeun and mikey) if you look it up on the official website for korean music copyrights association. janggeun is listed as double sidekick 2, mikey as 3. #4 is ham joon suk, who co-wrote only like couple songs. most songs are listed under lee yong hwan, who's mc mong's manager (his face was on 1n2d before, and his instagram is leeyonghwan1983). the fact that when mc mong supposedly stopped his activities in 2011 and there was an increase in number of songs written by lee yong hwan right after and since then kinda adds to the accusation.
i don't know if you can read korean but most of the evidence is here. https://mirror.enha.kr/wiki/%EC%9D%B4%EB%8B%A8%EC%98%86%EC%B0%A8%EA%B8%B0

"In Mong's second trial on 29 November 2010, after four of his dentists came forward to support his case, the fifth and the one previously stated who took out teeth number 46 and 47 changed his statement. He explained that tooth number 47 was acutely damaged, so he pulled it out. He pulled out tooth number 46 as there was a hole in the tooth, and explained that he could not know why the hole was there. He also explained that MC Mong had not taken good care of his teeth and most of his teeth needed either care or removal. He also explained that the police told him to write in words such as “forceful” and “intense” into his account, and that he was bothered about it constantly when he did not. He explained that he had never talked to MC Mong about enlistment evasion. He explained that unlike the reports suggested, he had never received any money from MC Mong for pulling the teeth out, and that the reason he took the teeth out was not from MC Mong’s request."
he didn't even get convicted on that charge, but 'deliberately delaying enlistment on false grounds', which still seems odd since the 'false grounds' were disproven

Date: 2014-11-04 03:38 am (UTC)so like, he received his enlistment date in 2004, delayed it several times until 2007 when he received exemption for his teeth. in 2010 he was accused of pulling them out for military issues, he claimed that it was part of the necessary treatment, then they found out his teeth were normal. they also found out he delayed his enlistment because he said he was studying for the state examinations (for civil service) but was actually releasing albums and filming movies until 3 months before the exam, and had also paid a broker to make him a fake certificate of attendance at a private institute.
so what the trial confirmed is that they announced that his teeth situation was a genuine health issue but since there's still evidence that he was trying to delay enlistment without proper reasons, they're still sentencing him guilty for that.
and the public, since they've seen most of the evidence including his post on Naver (which still exists ha), will view him as an asshole.
