This episode was the day before the Seoul fanmeeting which was free and open to the public. YG is such a master manipulator. Poor Jinhwan. The fans would descend in mass to vote for Yunhyeong, Junhoe, and Donghyuk. Hongseok and Chanwoo probably got NO votes.

I guess I have to give him credit for doing what is necessary to get the line up he wants.

I'm glad baby Donghyuk was shining so brightly. I do like how Hanbin's stages always focus on those still competing.

I'm going to say the same thing I said for SMTM3 they need to not be so obvious with these "survival shows". Like I get when a contestant gives you something to work with and you manipulate that situation but them picking Chanwoo over fucking Junhoe was so much fail. Junhoe brings it every time so that's just so awkward. People would have felt bad for Chanwoo had you "eliminated" him, made him cry for the umpteenth time, and he'd rack up those votes.

I was happy Jinhyeong finally got some real screen time to sing since he's getting that WIN Team B treatment. Sad it had to be like this though.

ETA: I know the judges are in on this but are the boys? If so they need Oscars for all these waterworks and if not YHS is really an asshole fucking with this little boys psyches like this.

I don't think the confirmed boys are in on it per se. You can see Bobby in the back covering his ears to avoid hearing the results. I just think Bobby and Hanbin have a good sense of what plays for a survival show after SMTM3. I think YG set this up to make sure the fans vote the way he wants and that's for OT6 plus...Jinhyeong.

BUT i'd feel bad if he was the only one who didn't make it, so i guess he can take someone else with him. although it's obvious yg is setting it up to be pity votes of original 6 + 1.

i like both chanwoo and jinhyeong. its a shame hongseok doesn't mesh well cause he has a nice voice.

No the final match is next week. This was more of a final slap to the fan's faces to decide on who should be in iKON. All this time people have been just voting for Chanwoo and he's been winning by being on Hanbin's team but by picking Chanwoo over Junhoe YG tried to give an idea of what could happen.

The day after this aired was the Korean fanmeet.

Jinhwan unfortunately went first. The consequences are normally a lower score. Also most of the rappers on the panel are producers so Hanbin rearranging the song to be trendy would be of interest to them.

Ok, so how does fan vote factor into this? I know it's 70% fans and 30% judges, but for the final match, is everyone going to be split into teams again and then fans have to choose which of the bottom three to save? Because that would really suck for who ever's on Jinhwan's team (not hating on Jinhwan btw, I actually thought he had the best stage in this round, but his team keeps coming in last).

I have a feeling it's going to be OT6 + Chanwoo, which irks me, but right now, he is the most comfortable one on stage out of the three new trainees. I'd rather it be Jinhyeung though; I really like his voice and he's better at dancing than Chanwoo and Hongseok.

Also, what the hell judges? Chanwoo over Junhoe? Are you blind?

I mean I knew Chanwoo was a '98 liner but B.I is a '96 and Donghyuk & Junhoe are 97' mind = blown I thought they were all '95ers. So young.

I don’t understand the judging for this show, it seems biased. All the judges were rappers, YG should have gotten a mix. People who are rappers, dancers, singers and producers. That’s why B.I’s team won. Because they were so impressed that he was able to make Let It Go hip-hop. Lee Hi sounded great and she and Donghyuk harmonized very well. Donghyuk also sounded really good on his own. Better than Hongseok. Hongseok barely had any lines and he didn’t even deliver with the little he had, shame. He was so awk dancing too, being on B.I’s team really saved him.

Can’t believe they picked Chanwoo over Junhoe. The only way it could make sense is if it was scripted. Like I can’t even try and comprehend.. idk maybe YG didn’t think Junhoe did his part justice, lol.

This show is EXTREMELY scripted. All these talent survival shows are. I just like watching to see if I can get in their heads and see what they're trying to pull (in this case though I also actually care about iKON).

omg my bb jinhwan crying T______T i personally thought they did so well in both their vocal AND dance performance. Sort of unfair since all the judges are rappers sooo of course the vocal only group got 3rd place ;w;
Let it go was... not as bad as i thought it would be LOL donghyuk did well! Though I'm not a fan of his voice he has improved SO much since WIN that it would be a shame to not reward his hard work with a spot on the team... hongseok was forgettable in that performance.
still desperately wishing for OT6 + jinhyeong but seeing as how the judges picked chanwoo over FREAKING JUNHOE that will sadly not be the case. I don't get it since YG keeps talking about how he only wants to pick members that are ready to get on stage but he seems to favor possible potential stars soooo i don't get what he's trying to do.

ugh i need jinhwan's team to win ONE stage ... pisses me off that his team has come in last every single time even though i feel like his teams always have the best teamwork... idk How does the voting work this time?? is it only for the live showing??

Fucking travesty that Jinhwan team's Treasure performance got such low scores compared to the mess that was Let It Go.

All those tears was so hard to watch. Jinhwan crying right there on stage, Bobby covering his ears not to hear the result, etc. :(

I feel like YG has other plans for him. Like, why even take a ballad singer with 2 weeks of training and throw him into a survival show based around a "hip-hop" group, unless you just want to get his name out there.

team bi’s performance… i laughed so hard but after multiple replays i do understand why they won & actually can see how entertaining it is in a really ridiculous way. imo hanbin is alw favored bc tho certain things can be mediocre (e.g. song choice & line distributions…hmm) he knows how to use the bigger picture, put on a good performance that has a build up and climax (ha ha) w/o overshadowing the other kids whilst still shining. he takes big risks and they pay off so i get it especially since ikon will be hip hop based.

since it’ll be ot6+1, ig jinhyeong (he did well this challenge! his acapella tone was a bit flat but still really pretty) is the majority preferred +1 since hongseok is super awkward, been the target of fury from everyone and chanwoo is still very subpar (lol getting in over junhwe who spoon fed him his lines..ok..) however i do still stand by my opinion that stage presence/charisma/“bond” can be improved with time and experience (look if jinwoo can get over his massive stage fright with a bunch of concerts the impossible can happen) though it’s prob too late in terms of attitude towards hongseok. in my ideal long term vision tho (esp since they’re prob not debuting for a while & most imptly to justify adding a 7th member to the dynamic) hongseok would still be my pick bc of his vocals, proficiency in 3 languages, more assertive personality etc but shrugs ia he’d def be a very risky choice. i do wish we could see them more, outside of the serious performing environment bc its currently so restrictive and narrative based. what we see is such a small cut of everything :/

tl/dr: this entire show is a mess, yg pushing ikon to be purely “””hip hop””” focused is a 1-dimensional and suffocating idea, ot6+1 is just a bandaid and yg should have just debut double b and be done with it since ikon is gonna revolve around them anyway

so so far team bobby's rolling in the deep perf is still my fave overall but maybe i'm just forgetting other perfs rn lol

bobby was just okay this week, which is a bit disappointing because i've really grown to like and watch for him but w/e i hope he shines again next week!

Justice for team jinhwan!! They didn't deserve to come in last both last time and this week ugh. The fact that Jinhwan would get Chawoo and Donghyuk in the final batttle if they continue on this format means that I'd be praying they get exactly 2nd place lol 1st place would be a disaster but on the other hand I want them to win at least once. So conflicted.

The fact that we know nothing about the details of the final voting mechanics and that it won't be aired live means YG has plenty of time to mess with it to suit his ideal lineup lol. Here's to hoping we have the same lineup (+jinhyeong) cause I can't figure out if YG genuinely likes Chanwoo or if he's setting him up for failure, or both and this is just promo for Chanwoo's future acting career or whatever idk.

iKon TV would not have made me this invested in them YG's an ass but he knows what he's doing this time at least.

Only watched the performances so far.

In relation the song performances, for me it was Bobby's Team > Jinhwan team> B.I's team.

I don't like Let It Go so strike one. Donghyuk's voice usually doesn't bother me that much and I liked him on Rolling in the deep, but his voice here was a no. Only really liked that trap part and some of Lee Hi's parts.

i have only watched the latest 2 eps of this but i loved the losing team's dance so much. can't remember last weeks singing performances but i think they did well enough and those 2 kids were better than some of the staying members. also b.i's team performance wasn't as messy as i thought it was going to be. i liked it except for the turn ups~
