K-Pop ALS Ice Bucket Challenge *~*MASTER POST*~*

The ALS ice bucket challenge exploded earlier this month when Pete Frates (who's been living with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, since 2012) uploaded a video of the challenge to different social media sites. The challenge went viral and has opened up the eyes of the world to ALS and the struggles of those suffering through it. For more information on ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease and to donate, please visit the ALS Association Website

So what is the challenge?
The challenge is that once nominated, you have 24-hours to make one of two choices:
1. Dump a bucket of ice water (preferably with lots of actual ice mixed in) over your head and donate $10 to the ALS foundation.
2. Do not dump a bucket of ice water and donate $100 to the ALS foundation

After picking one of the choices, you nominate/call out/challenge up to three other people to also take up the challenge.

The whole point of this challenge, though, is to raise awareness and money for ALS around the world, which it certainly has been doing. As of August 20th, the ALS foundation has received $31.5 million in donations, compared to $1.9 million during the same time last year (July 29 to August 20) (ALSA)

STRONG WORK, OP!

This is the only viral video challenge that doesn't annoy me. Lol. It's a great cause with seriously massive results.
My favorites so far are Royal Pirates for sheer enthusiasm and Jaejoong for quantity of water/ice, the pour, and breathless exasperation. XD

The Running Man guys were also hilarious.

And Junsu was pretty adorable apologizing to the theater noonas who would have to redo all his hair/makeup for the evening Dracula show.

It's probably much smarter to nominate before getting dumped on, but the ones where they nominate after are amusing to see how the brain kind of short-circuits and goes into primal fight or flight mode. It takes them a little while to remember what they're supposed to say.

I watched almost all of the videos above and most of them are mentioning ALS or "meaningful cause" in the video or in their tweets/video descriptions.

And even if that was not the case, these "silly kids" still have fans and still raise awareness. They just need to make one person aware of this and donate and their video would already serve a purpose.
