Whoever came up with that kidnapping scene needs to be fired, but putting that aside, this is not that bad. It's embarrassing, there's not enough Suga, but Taehyung is killing me and they are still cute and dumb
Yeah the kidnapping scene was so unnecessary but the rest of the episode was pretty funny and the interactions with their tutors were cute. I hope the rest of the episodes are like that.
oop yeah like i said on bangtanbomb that hijacking part is extremely unnecessary and cringey for a # of reasons but the rest is okay + i think its gonna get better from here on out but im not swearing by it. taehyung is already owning the screentime he has (and tony jones is hot x2)
ot but can we talk about their new hair esp jin because im a wreck
A ton of people found the scene uncomfortable so I wouldn't recommend watching this if you feel you may be triggered :\ but if you still want to watch the episode but avoid the kidnapping scene, it's from 10:00-15:05.
I had to keep pausing it through the kidnapping part, that was so painful to watch... I wish they hadn't done that.
I was kind of surprised some of them had so little to say about what hip-hop was to them, but I guess it's only a couple of members who really are into it even if that's their genre as a group... Just felt weird, like they'd never really thought about it before.
1. jin silently clapping after the little presentation 2. suga, who already seemed done with everything before it began 3. taehyung's optimism and the whole 'turn up'- thing which had me both facepalming and laughing
it looks promising so far. here's to hoping the next episodes are good!
Ok so. The mere existence of black people is terrifying. Added bonus: homeless/poor people are even scarier. We get it. That aside...
Assuming the kids weren't in on the kidnapping scene, was it necessary to terrify them like that for the sake of entertainment? What label are they on? That was kinda fucked up.
Other than that it was cool to see him quiz them on hip-hop and confirm they don't actually know shit as we suspected.
I will reserve judgment on these little hoodlums until more episodes are released BUT I feel like I'm gonna be that guy in the gif -- 100% done with the random nonsense that spews from their mouths
I didn't think it was bad as people are making it out to be, they thought they were kidnapped. Yeah it was a cringewrothy choice but people are overacting. Just my opinion though. They didn't personally say or do anything racist. I get that people are upset about the show portraying black people in a certain way but hate the producers not bangtan.
I thought this ended up alot better than I feared it would be. The kidnapping scene was unnecessary, but I didn't see it as shade on the members' parts. They legit didn't know that was going to happen, or who those guys were. I'm sorry, but I live in America AND I'm black, and if that happened, I'd lose my shit. I think they would've been scared regardless of what race of bulked up guys barged into their van at night.
Also none of the boys used race as a descriptor. They said it was scary, and what they feared might happen, but none of them specifically mentioned being scared by black people. I've noticed Korean people are very blunt, and I know of an incident where Seungri of BB clearly mentioned being scared a black guy would barge into his vehicle. So I think the Bangtan members would've definitely said it, if they felt that way. Time will tell, but for now, this episode isn't that bad. The editing is, but the boys and how they interact with the people they encounter, aren't.
The kidnapping scene was so unnecessary. Although I got the impression that they were afraid at the prospect of being kidnapped in general, not scared of black people. Still, unnecessary. Poor Jungkook, he was so scared.
I'm so amused by Taehyung. The stuff that he says, the things he does... It's cool that he's calm (I guess) but his spontaneity is refreshing and hilarious. What in the world goes on in his thought process, lmao
All in all, I was expecting worse but it wasn't that bad. I know how unsettling the sentiments are presented, but in other point I'm sort of glad that they actually showed how ignorant and naive these boys are? For a group that has been touting as 'hiphop' as their modus operandi from a bird's eye view, this feels like a good wake up call for them that it isn't like how they perceived. I don't know how the k-netizens are going to interpret it tho, and how the PDs decide to edit future episodes. I'd still watch this for the boys' idiotic moments.
I hope this will teach them a few things other than the 'skills', like, well, the N-word and stuff.
But then again I belong in a predominantly Asian country so I may not get a few things so eh feel free to bomb me
Are they seriously staying at Skid Row? I stayed at homeless shelter there for a little bit, and it's no fucking joke. That's not a place to be for no good reason.
Holy shit, that's where they're staying?? I haven't watched yet, but damn!! Sort of irresponsible on the show producers part wtf. I would be worried if I was their parents...
the kidnaping scene was ridiculous... and It's just my opinion and I'm not trying to defend "oppas" but I think they were scared because three mans two times bigger than them screaming at their ears and barely knowing what they are saying... well I would be scared of them even if they are purple tbh... so If I've missed some part of the show where they were obviously being racist then tell me. The scene that was so out of place was that man "beggar" asking for money, that was unnecessary for the rest of the show I enjoyed it, it as fun and their interaction with their tutors was really cute, they looked so happy xD and I laughed so hard at Suga's confused face when Coolio started asking questions to him xD poor kid, I think they should have learnt some english before going there... SO! I'm gonna wait for next episode to be even better than this one.
LMFAO TAEHYUNGGGGGG turn up party? XD sorry.. XDDDDDDDDDDD jimin rly looks misplaced doesn't know shit, poor bb xD suga plssss also hobi ;~; he was so fokn scared i wanted to hug him
the kidnapping scene was...well it's often done on kr variety but...yh it was all kinds of wrong. 8/
i was apprehensive to watch this but so far it's not what i thought it would be. the kidnapping scene is, as everyone has said, totally unnecessary. i figure it's only there for entertainment factor (and i assume we don't need to go over why having a bunch of black men kidnap them is problematic on the production team's part).
what i did appreciate about this episode is this: we get to see how ignorant the members of bts really are about hip hop, and we got to see them grilled for it. the language barrier and the situation as a whole may have made them flustered but i mean, no one answering the question as to where hip hop started? that to me is basic information about hip hop tbh. if the premise of the show is they're going to learn about where hip hop came from, how it came to be, and what it really is so that they can go on to be a "hip hop group" that actually knows a thing or two about hip hop, then i'll be glad. the idea of that premise is what made me glad we got to see them be kind of dumb about this, because from my perspective, i was laughing at their ignorance and at the fact that they'll hopefully be rid of it soon.
now, this is a show, so of course it has to be about entertainment, which is why that kidnapping scene is even there in the first place. not only that but it's produced for a korean audience, so maybe what they find funny isn't what i find funny-- while i'm here laughing at how naive the bts members are, a korean audience might be laughing at how they're being confronted by scary black men. in the future, this could also mean that the "education" they receive isn't really the kind i want them to receive because that might not be an entertaining to an audience. i worry that for the sake of entertainment they'll be learning really superficial things like gestures and "swag." that's why i'm going to remain apprehensive about this show and not really expect too much from it. however, i do hope that they gain some basic knowledge that i feel is necessary if you're gonna call yourself a hip hop artist, even if it doesn't happen on screen (it's probably way too optimistic to hope someone will tell them about the n-word even if it happens offscreen, right?)

Random people that you don't know, in a foreign country, hijacking your van and you at night!?!?! taking away your phones!?!? fuck that, thats traumatizing as hell. Like I would be so freakin' scared if that ever happen to me, foreign country or not. It doesn't matter if they are black tbh
and wtf they are staying at Skid Row?!?!?!? That place is scary during the day time like??!? what are they thinking.
This whole episode was just seriously embarrassing not to mention that whole kidnapping scene and having them stay in Skid Row is THE WORST. I don't even know what to say. This is like a terrible train wreck and I can't seem to turn away.
I don't know why I decided to torture myself by watching this but I did. That kidnapping scene was so uncomfortable to watch, Jesus. It really wasn't needed. But what's korean entertainment without dehumanizing black people? At one point I just started skipping parts.
NGL Suga had me cracking up. All bruh wanted to do was chill. He was unfazed by it all. lol
