can we keep yuto? and omg the twins are even more adorable now that they're walking and babbling. and i don't care about that part where there's no kid or baby.
Sarang and Yuto seeing Mickey and then their happy dance after was adorable. I really enjoy seeing the new couple, I am constantly watching TLC and those birth/ new parents shows which is probably why. But They may not enjoy being on the show later on and trying to to care for a new born. especially if the follow the same setup where the mom is gone for a couple of days, 2 days can seem like a week as a new parent.
They shouldn't have pick new parents. Babies literally doing nothing for the first 30 months. It's just going to be a kid either crying their ass off or sleeping. Oh, and the parents having mini mental breakdowns... smh -__-
I'll never understand how someone gets talked into childbirth. Like, yes, sex leads to pregnancy but no one every says to you "THAT SHIT IS GONNA HURT MORE THAN 3 BULLETS TO THE HEART!"
My bad I just re-read my comment, I meant the first 3 months. 30 month babies are the best! They have a personality, aren't self-obsessed yet, and have a lot of "kids say/do the darndest things" moments.
New born babies are amazing, but only really to their parents (especially first timers). Humans don't do anything at that age, we can't even truly smile or cry for the first few weeks (if not months). And newborns pretty much sleep the day away. What's the point of a 48 hour taping if the child is only awake for 16?
Its great that you thought every burp, gargle, and sneeze was a miracle but others will just view it as everyday life. Cute, but not grow breaking.
sorry to butt in, but this show is not like Dad Where Are We Going where it depends on the antics of the children, i feel like a lot of the viewers has misunderstood the total aim of the show; that is to show the experiences and growth of the father/parents in raising their children. that is why they picked parents with various stages of children's age. if u see at the beginning of Lee Hwijae's segment his children are just babies, they hardly pose any ~entertaining baby antics for the viewers' pleasure; but the public is still moved and loved his segment because it shows his growth as a parent; and not to mention his interesting interaction with his wife. honestly, his segment now are the only one that keeps me anticipated and happy because it's just wonderful to see the babies made little progresses as they grow up.
the show isn't just focusing on the children alone 24 hours; they are not circus props made to solely please the audience with their cute antics. that's why u see the parents bringing in their co-workers, relatives, guests into their home because they need to keep the show going; the kids aren't going to be adorable all the time. the point of bringing the new couple with unborn child is to touch the viewers' heart in their experiences in dealing with parenthood. yes, there's probably gonna be few breakdown moments but there's also gonna be lots of moving and touching moments. you'd be surprised with how attached and adoring ppl can be in witnessing the growth of a baby. plus, ofc the new couple would be aware of the risks they're taking with airing their parenthood, and i also would like believe they have considered all pertaining matters to their best by choosing to share their experience.
Yes I know the aim of the show is to re-socialize Korea into embracing dual-parenting instead of forcing all guardianship towards mothers (who pretty much raise their kids like single parents since the average Korean male works too many hours to have any time to be with his family much less actually contribute emotionally/physical to child raring).
See that's where I disagree. The twins might have been young, but they were past the first 100 days (aka the hurts and most intense part of human growth). They already had separate personalities (i.e. their dynamic of one being a lone wolf while the other is a crybaby), were able to do simple "body gags" like fall over (no ones going to leave a newborn a lone long enough for it to move around), and just the fact that they were twins made their family sensational enough for television (there's a reason Hwijae is always pointing out that they're twins, it's extremely uncommon in Korea).
And yes the twins growth is the best and most "parenting/childcare" part of the show, which becomes more apparent the older they get. Compare them now to when they started and you'll see a huge difference but compare them in episode 1 to episode 2 and pretty much nothing.
Anyways, I'm sure they will be a great addition to the cast. BUT I really do think they should wait until the child is at least 3 months old before doing their second filming. Who knows, maybe the kid is already 6 months right now and there will be a seamless time jump between the birthing scene and a the couple feeding the baby solid food. [Damn, this comment was long :/]
welp. there seem to be a misunderstanding regarding the new couple's featuring, apparently they are just a guest cast for the childbirth special and that's it. but i still appreciate the discussion though, thanks for explaining. rn i'm hoping Haha and Byul would consider to join the show; now that Sean and his wife Jung Hyeyoung pretty much killed all hopes for their involvement in any childcare show
Is the birthing specials to help with the transition away from the Jang bros? I really like it (I'm a part time TLC addict) but its a little... different. Maybe KBS is quietly trying to get a fanbase ready for a birthing spinoff.
I think Haha and Byul would be good (although I can't bring myself to like Haha because he insist on fetishizing my culture every other day) but they wouldn't be able to fill the gap of the Jangs. They need at least 1 "mature/older" family to give people a break from all the babies.
S and HY would have been great because: 1) They would be an older family (great range of ages) 2) they would be a larger family (Korea needs increase birthrate propaganda 24/7) 3) they have probably live in a house (I just really want to see some Korea kids who are locked up in an apartment at all times) because Sean has YGE stock money ( sadly, all these reasons are probably why they won't do it)
ah i read on the show's wiki that because of the show's runtime was extended to 100 minute from its original 85mins, so the special was planned to fill the gap left by yakkung's family. after the special only then the new family (sung il gook and his triplets) will take over.
yeah i will always side-eyed him for that, but the main reason i think it'll be nice to have him on the show is because i would love to see the way he would have to deal with fatherhood by himself; to see whether there's a role reversal between him as a father and his tv persona, and his growth in parenthood, as i find it nice to see lee hwijae maturing as the show progresses; given his known socializing rep before his marriage.
too bad they disagreed to the offers; but they probably have weighted some very good reasons not to do it. i read an article where sean said in an interview that he did consulted to his wife about the offers they received; but his wife simply said "no" and there's that lol. he didn't explain the reasons any further. i understand their possible burdens if they were to do a childcare show; people will dissect their family life to the core (plus with them being the perfect parents figure in korea and all) and they wouldn't want to subject their children to such scrutinization and criticism. like i couldn't roll my eyes enough already at the way people criticizing the existing families' way of parenting just from the barely 20mins cut of a variety show.
There is no reason a tv SHOW should be 100 minutes long. -_-
I agree about Haha probably being really different with his family. Which is why I don't think he would take it, parenthood just clashes with everything his celebrity persona is supposed to represent.
Yea, i don't think they would have a lot to gain from the show (although I know his wife isn't really happy with the fact that she's fading into irrelevancy, though that HJW show was a good role, outside of being a celebrity mom).
I'm forever rme at people who say Choo isn't a loving husband.
i really like the new couple, mainly because i'm already familiar with jang yunjeong and i like her outgoing personality and it's really nice to see that her husband (and her in-laws) are super sweet too. i'm really glad her in-laws adores her so much like she's their own daughter; at least she has a parents figure to depend to, especially after what her own family did to her. and gosh, i already teared up at the childbirth preview in the beginning, it's just so moving seeing new parents experiencing their first childbirth. i really hope they wouldn't go by the show's standard format for the first few months; newborn baby needs their mother 24/7.
her family is awful to her. from what I remember, her mother and some family members embezzled all of her savings and left her in massive debt. then her mom sued her for defamation and did a whole bunch of interviews with the press to make herself look like the victim and yunjeong the bad guy. I'm glad she has such caring in-laws
her mother and brother was revealed to be the ones behind her anti site and her uncle received payments to write negative comments about her on articles. u may google "jang yunjeong's scandal" and there are translated articles listed about it. the whole debacle was just awful.
