probably because it's considered better to stick to one language until the kid is older, otherwise they often get confused between the two (or more). i was born in australia but my parents stuck with korean until i started school which seemed to work out best.
not to be a dick, but it's actually best to start kids learning a second language as early as possible as one's ability to learn a new language decreases throughout life (at a fairly exponential rate after the first few years). kids that start out with two languages (or more) tend to take a little longer to demonstrate mastery at the beginning but by toddler age are just as proficient in the two as other kids are in their native language elementary school is still early enough to pick up a second language, especially since in your case it was the main language, but secondary language learning, even as early as elementary school and i don't think it even starts that early in korea, doesn't have the same effect
yeah I know a girl who was bilingual during primary school but she had problems in elementary school so the teacher said it would be better to focus on one language. it's a pity because she can't really talk with her father's family now. on the other hand it's better to speak to your child (especially babies) in your mother language because you express more feelings, like not only words have a meaning.
Really? Everywhere I go, it's the exact opposite. Children find it easier to pick up languages the younger they are and by the time they get to 12, there's a part of their brain that enables them to pick up languages easier that dies. Also, being a multi-lingual child helps with their lateral thinking too.
Idk, I grew up bi-lingual and I had no problems whatsoever. My cousin was born into 4 or 5 languages and she would often mix them all into one sentence but I think a bit of confusion is to be expected. She's a boss at linguistics now and is less than half my age, I'm so jealous!
I guess every experience is different but it's usually better for children to start learning another language at a young age. It requires more work at first and the parents must be careful not to overwork them but if approached as a game it's actually very good for their development.
That's disappointing.I'm not going to question his reasons (maybe it's easier to speak Korean so her mom understands too, maybe Haru understands better in it) but it is a shame. Kids at her age pick up and absorb new things so fast, learning languages is so much easier than when they get older. Hell my 3 year old cousin is already trillingual from speaking two languages at home and one outside.
Watching Tablo and Kang Hye Jung with Haru makes me want to have kids and I really don't want to have kids, lol. But they are adorable and look so happy.
when I watch Superman returns I want children too. and when I see wedding dresses I want to get married ^^ but it's not like we really want it, it's more like we fancy it? kind of like when we watch a commercial lol
Hmm, I dunno...I guess I would like to visit England again (the last time I went I was ten). But after getting a job, since I haven't been in one in a while--I'd like a relationship, too. That takes a while so I know I could still enjoy using my money as a single person, haha.
lol same. When I see some of my friends happily married with kids I think "it's such a nice life" but at the same time I'm enjoying my freedom too much so it's weird. I wanna have kids someday tho, because I really like them. I enjoy a lot when I go out to the movies or whatever with my 7 y/o nephew. It makes me think that being a young mom could be kinda cool too idk.
Aww, that's sweet. Yes, I have a friend who says if she was financially stable she would have kids right now. We're in out early 20's. And my best friend already has a son! So, it's that time haha. Everyone moves at their own pace.
I want kids sometimes, but then other times, like today when I was getting my hair cut and another customer was letting her kids run all over the shop...
haru is flawless <3 i swear i always have the brightest smile on my face every time i watch return of superman (sorry sarang!!) she is just full of wonder :')
I just started watching the show and Haru is so cute on the show. Her laugh is incredibly precious and Tablo is a great dad. Haru is a lucky kid, she's really loved.
Everytime I see Tablo and Haru I think that being a young parent and do fun stuff with your kid must be really cool too, but then I think I'm currently enjoying my "freedom" too much and it's confusing lol.
Did anyone else see the pic (http://instagram.com/p/oZfCHwIytR/) of Haru with her legs crossed looking like the diva she is on Blo's IG? She's growing up so beautifully -tear tear-
