IMO the problem is not the wait for their debut exactly, it's smart to build as much hype as possible (re: EXO's year+ hiatus before Wolf / Growl) the problem as it tends to be is that YG already said they'd debut right after the show ended, that was kind of the whole point of the competition in the first place, it just makes him look unprofessional.

But I remain 1000% more pissed at what they continue to do to Akdong Musician *sobs*

I'm so glad they're releasing anything at all ;; I mean obviously I want their debut release to be as great as it can be, and I'm fairly certain I won't be let down – it's just the constant promising of 'debut after WIN' 'debut in december' 'debut after winner tv' is getting tiresome. I guess that's why YG hasn't made any promises lately.

I continue to maintain the theory that YG is waiting to pit them against EXO's comeback for publicity purposes like 2NE1 vs. SNSD last month. We'll wait and see.

Uh, I hope not. And I don't think YG wanted 2NE1 VS SNSD to happen, but since they had to release their album before their concert they couldn't evade them, so they made the best out of the situation after SM announced SNSD's comeback plans.

I don't think YG 100% completely planned out the whole 2ne1 vs. SNSD thing either, indeed a part of it was very likely that their bad scheduling just collided with SM announcing the news. But why I have the theory is what happened after - the publicity that came out of the whole incident being fired up by the media or who knows probably the SM and YG PR departments themselves as the "battle of the top girl groups" I think definitely helped 2ne1 rather than harm them overall. Popular response to the album has also been great and you know you can never really predict what goes on inside YG's head so maybe he/the PR department might think that this helped too.

Seeing as YG has pretty high hopes for Winner I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to repeat the same pattern for them to make sure their debut makes as much impact as possible. And it's not the outcome of the results that matter so much since we know that at this point in 2014 Exo will surely slam Winner, but all the extra publicity and attention it would grant towards Winner would be HUGE and probably way more effective any amount that YG could spend to promote them. Granted not all in the most positive light given much of Exo's crazy teenaged fanbase but overall I'd still say it'll do Winner more good than harm.

Idk, Exo isn't Korea's national idol group unlike SNSD and thus connecting Winner's name into Exo wouldn't necessary mean lots of attention getting articles. I mean Korean public is probably more familiar with names of some Winner members than Exo members. And I don't think it would be good publicity for Winner to be losing for Exo (who is pretty hated group) in music shows.

Whether or not Exo is the "national idol group" in this case doesn't even matter, the fact that they are both the next young generation of boy bands from SM and YG is enough for basis for the comparison that's already begun. And it's not just the "attention getting articles", it's the general attention of the public that would be directed towards them - including their target future fanbases.

lol. Probably maybe as an individual Seung Yoon yes but I don't really think so for any other members. As a group overall Exo is definitely a more familiar name with the public.
