Jellyfish Entertainment, Music Works, MMO, and 1877 Become Label Companies Under CJ E&M

Taking the next step into the future of the music industry, CJ E&M decided to incorporate the label system, bringing in CJ Music, Jellyfish Entertainment, Music Works, MMO (Music Makes One), and 1877 under its wings.

“The core focus of the label system is to strengthen the companies through the steadiness of investments. We decided that it would be hard to prepare for global competition with just simple monetary investments,” said CJ E&M on March 18. “For a steady music industry, we’ll continue the existing investments, but we’ll be creating a co-existing system in which we can take responsibility in production, distribution, marketing, and furthermore, global advancement with a label system.”

CJ E&M plans on expanding with companies that focus hip-hop, rock, and indie bands, as well as genres that focus on live performances and vocals.

CJ E&M’s new partners, CJ Music, Jellyfish Entertainment, Music Words, MMO, and 1877 holds artists such as Roy Kim, Son Ho Young, Jung Joon Young, VIXX, Sung Si Kyung, Park Hyo Shin, Seo In Guk, Yu Sung Eun, Baek Ji Young, Hong Dae Kwang, and more.

CJ E&M has plans to reach out to labels in and outside of Korea and plans on parntering up with 6 to 8 labels within 2014.

Also, you said the solo artists would be promoting more this year, where is the park hyoshin, seo in guk, sung sikyung albums. First quarter of 2014 is almost over.
i wonder what the countdown is on the jelpi website for though. timer is for an artist's comeback. Wonder whooooooo.

Been reading up, i guess CJ e&m with jelpi isnt a surprise since these two have been crossing paths since forever. Seo in guk with mnet media. Lee seokhoon's group SG wannabe was with mnet media as well. FNC ent is under CJ e&m music live whatever its called and ceo is tight with jelpi ceo. Both were even in some project music duo in the olden days. JUST KEEP KIM KWANG SOO AWAY FROM MY LOVES!!!!!!!!

A lot of smaller companies are under CJ E&M. And i think CJ group as a whole is oretty darn huge with their food and other stuff.

That crap is their best selling mini album so if that crap sell like hot cakes, we will be seeing that again and again.. :( I have no problem with MiL but the other songs in the mini is not as good as their previous filler songs.

This is a completely different narrative from the woollim/sm merger and so far the woollim/sm merger has been good. Infinite got a world tour, toheart i believe was mostly handled by woollim and nell released an album with their style intact.
I really iffy about this sentence tbh "co-existing system in which we can take responsibility in production, distribution, marketing, and furthermore, global advancement with a label system.” Leave jelpi's creative side alone and let them do whatever they want just like how Sm/woollim said woollim will be getting more connections for international advancement, but creative side will be left alone.

Though i must admit im no infinite stan so they must feel different regarding the merger.

Well, toheart has been reportedly in the works for about a year which i guess means it started before the news merger was released. So the merger was probably in talks waaaay before the news were out. Who knows why A Man In Love happened, all i know is it shouldnt have happened. Lol

It's probably because it's public/radio friendly. Just as how gr8u did really well for vixx. Jekyll repackaged sold waymore than hyde. And im not sure voodoo full album has even caught yet.

Sung si kyung once said that it's good to have a distinct style in music but its important to do something public friendly. One example he gave was Rain's instead of saying goodbye. So different from his other stuff but it was a hit.

Mte about vixx. Because SSK is such an alpha male and is the type who does what we wants, he and park hyoshin are established enough to have a pull. SIG too some extent too. But vixx bbs.... If ravi doesnt have as much contribution in their next release compared to voodoo doll, well we know who to blame.

One of my fave things about jellyfish has always been the fact that they actually let the members have a say in what they do. They give them enough control so the members can actually contribute but not so much that its messy due to inexperience or sth. Like the whole thing with N helping out with choreo for gr8u. Having him work alongside the choreographer was a fabulous idea bc it not only lets him contribute but having someone there who knew what they're doing helped him learn and kept it from looking less polished than their other choreo.

yeah i ttly get that they need money bc i cant imagine voodoo was a cheap concept to do for such a small co. and now that more people are paying attn to them they cant afford to pull too far back on quality due to lack of a budget. i just dont want my poor bbs to get screwed over bc they've come so farrrr and im too invested to drop them if they start to flop.

also bc jellyfish actually acknowledges they have intl fans and doesn't ignore us too much and i dont want to have to wait 10 million yrs for them to come back to la again bc their company doesn't think its worth it lol /cries

i really hope this doesn't mess with vixx's creative freedom and their concepts because that's what sets them apart from other groups. i've heard some awful things about jellyfish/money on tumblr so i hope this is for the best.

Oh i didnt knwo about that. I hope they hire some people who can do the job right. They have two ceo. Hwang ceo is the producer/creative type while the other handles the business side of it i think. I hope they get their act together since they need all the money they can get. None of their acts are raking in cf money. They mostly do really well digitally, but idk if thye get tons of money for that since a lot of it are osts and are produced by other people.

Darn, maybe it was a bad year to get into VIXX. I can't complain since the end of 2013 was one of the worse years of my entire life so far. Watching VIXX goof around alleviates my stress a lot. Here's hoping for the best for all Jellyfish artist.
