For example according to that SNSD has "only" sold 45k while they're sold 87k here. B1A4 has sold a bit less than that according to Hanteo but at least the difference is not that high like with SNSD.

from what i understand from the note there is that Gaon counts every album that the distributors ship to retailers. while Hanteo counts what retailers actually sell to customers. So maybe they've shipped 87k albums, but apparently only have sold 45k. cmiiw.

wow, GOT7 did REALLY well for being rookies. Debuting in one of the top companies and having that much of charisma really matters. Sunmi is also doing really well with a not so much appealing song as 24h so I'm really glad about her. Keep getting that money, bbys! And SNSD's I Got a Boy is still charting. The power of this fandom is insane.

"Gaon sales:
-Used by Golden Disk Awards and some of the other end-of-year awards
-These are shipments of albums from distributor to retailers, as reported by distributors.
-Example: Albums shipped from CJ E&M, Loen, Universal Music, etc. to retailers like Synnara, Hottracks, YesAsia, etc.
-Note 1: Only distributors that are members of the Korean Music Content Industry Association have their albums reported on Gaon.
-Note 2: SME, YGE, JYPE and other management companies do not deal directly with Gaon.
-Note 3: There CAN be a margin of error between actual shipments and the shipments reported by Gaon.

Hanteo sales:
-Used by Music Bank K-Chart and other weekly award shows
-These are sales of albums from retailers that are Hanteo's member shops to consumers, plus an amount estimated generated by Hanteo's sampling and data-mining for the remaining non-member shops.
-Example: Albums that you buy from YesAsia or DVDHeaven
-Note 1: Hanteo's member stores cover approximately 85% of the sales in Korea.
-Note 2: There CAN be a margin of error between actual sales and the sales reported by Hanteo.
-Note 3: Sales are reported to Hanteo's server and updated to the charts automatically, the data is NOT manually entered into the system."

I think with all of February's releases B1A4 got pushed down which is understandable. Lonely was still charting in the top 10-20 before they slipped out of instiz charts later in the month ;; If you compare Lonely vs 1004's monthly digital count, Lonely did WAY better (30million points > 19million points)

so it's not all Gaon. and i don't really know how the industry works, but i'm pretty sure what is shipped by the distributor is according to the retailers' request and therefore already paid/the company already receive the money/sold.

They are actual sales. Hanteo only counts Korean sales and sales from Hanteo affiliated retailers. Gaon is international and it counts shipments - returns. For instance if retailers buy 100k copies but only 50k sell, the returns will reflect on Gaon, so it's more accurate.
