Compare/Contrast this with Girl's Day who have slowly been amping up their sexy concepts before their current one. Hopefully they perform well and the song is nice but the dance studio shots seemed kind've awkward to me.

i don't know how to feel about this at all. like, i agree that aegyo is sexist in that it promotes fetishization of young women seen as young, helpless girls relying on men, but i don't think hypersexualization of them is healthy either. either way it still sells sex.

I feel more uncomfortable w aegyo for the reasons u said bc at least sometimes sexy concepts feel genuine/cool/powerful (Kahi, BEG for example) but I've never really seen a pn aegyo concept That didn't feel pandering to the worst kind of guy (losers and ahjussi fans) even when I've enjoyed them, but this shit is creepy too. i feel like fx is an exception, in fact sm/yg/jyp groups are already starting ahead of the race because of where they're from. they have higher exposure from the start.

yeah what bothers me the most about the consent part of the sexy concept, they don't look genuine and consensual at all, they look forced and desperate for public attenion.
as for aegyo... i see the same happening to boy groups nowadays and i completely agree that it's about the power struggle. i think nowadays females with more consumer power/money is changing the atmosphere for boy groups too, with those noonas wanting their cute, young boys dancing to their pleasure.

Truthfully I was waiting to see if any of the girl group would produce something ala Rihanna in a raunchy, sexy way. I don't know I like the beat and the dance doesnt bother me, but I noticed that only a handful of girls can pull of the sexy concepts. I know SISTAR is not everyone's cup of tea, but I see them as individual who are naturally sexy. Even girls day, BEG and Spica has some spark of sensuality. Although these girls are pretty, they just don't exude sexuality the way these groups do.
