Singer Wheesung was discharged from the military in the morning of August 9 KST.

After saluting the media and his fans, Wheesung stated, “I am sorry I wasn’t discharged quietly and cleanly. It troubles me the most that I hurt my parents and my fans.”

The singer continued, “I am glad I served in the military. I learned many things and also felt a great thirst for music.” Wheesung concluded, “I am happy I was able to say my greetings today, and I look forward to meeting my fans with music. Thank you.”

Wheesung entered the military November 7, 2011. During his time, he earned ten awards for his outstanding military service. His excellent record was tainted by the controversy over the personal use of his cellphone during his hospital stay while he was in the military. He used the phone in regards to investigations into his alleged illegal use of propofol, which he was later cleared of the charges. He served three days in military prison for the cellphone use, and his military discharged was moved from August 6 to August 9.

Good to see you back, Wheesung!

Wheesung Sentenced to Three Days in Military Jail for Using Personal Cell Phone

It has been reported that Wheesung, who is currently serving in the military, has been sentenced to three days in military jail for using his personal cell phone without permission.

Wheesung’s lawyer Son Soo Ho commented, “While Wheesung was serving as an army drill sergent in Nonsan, he suffered injuries on his back and scalp so he had to be admitted to the military hospital. During his hospital stay, he used his cell phone so he received a three day military jail time sentence.”

The laweyer continued, “Therefore, Wheesung’s discharge has been delayed for three days. His discharge date was August 6 but now has turned into August 9.”

“Wheesung used his phone at the hospital and not at the army training base. At the time, he was being accused of propofol abuse so he spent some time on the phone with people who would help him get cleared of those suspicions. He did not danger the security of the base and as a drill sergent, he diligently carried out his military life and even received many merits.”

Previously, Wheesung was investigated for accusations of propofol abuse. His lawyer stated in the past, “Wheesung was investigated for propofol abuse, but was cleared of charges. He received normal amounts of propofol while treating his back injuries and his alopecia areata. The number of times he received the drug was very small and he showed no signs of dependence or addiction to it at all.”

Meanwhile, other celebrity soldiers such as Sangchu and Se7en also received military jail sentences for violating military conduct on several counts.

This is a little old, but I found out about it when I was reading about the army is relation to Yoochun. It kind of ties everything together about his propofol case and his military service.

Happy he got discharged and his record was cleared. It's unfortunate, but all celeb soldiers are under fire these days. I'll be happy if my faves get out unscathed. So far so good...well that's a lie, but so far the faves that really REALLY matter are fine basically just Heechul

Jailed for 3 days? For using cellphone? While hospitalized? Wow!

But soon my fave idols will enlist...so sad but at least I can focus on my study and by the time I graduate, they'll be out of the army, then I can continue fangirling, LOL

But OP, what about Yoochun? Did he use propofol?

People want to reduce the risk of important information about bases and anything confidential military related data being leaked out.

Good to see you back, Wheesung.
I think it's kind of worrying that he wasn't allowed to use his phone to get himself out of trouble considering he (seemingly) wasn't guilty of it. Clearing one's name is quite important; especially considering Korea is a country where you can sue for libel/defamation regardless of whether the fact is true or not. Something like that can damage one's career forever, and in fact it has damaged his somewhat. If he hadn't made such an effort to get his name cleared, things could have been a lot worse for him.
Saying that, how did he find out about the charges in the first place?

And haven't other idols been using their phones a lot to go on twitter? Dari, for one, was on twitter all the time when he was in the army. :| Is it okay if you use your phone at army camp but not offsite? I don't understand...

I'm glad his stint in the army is over, especially after going through those allegations and all that came with it. It will be really good to have him back singing, I hope he doesn't make us wait too long.

yay Wheesung is back! I can't believe he had to serve army jail time because he was trying to clear himself of people accusing him of drug use. I guess a rule is a rule.
