EXO were going to win (they had higher digital sales than 2NE!, obviously higher physical, and higher SNS / global fan vote). Basically they beat 2NE1 is every category.

Rumors are the MNET didn't want foreigners performing on Korean Liberation Day and since both f(x) and EXO have foreign members they were cut, which is disgusting to put it mildly.

There are also rumblings of a repeat of the 2009 boycott b/c MNET have yet to release KCON merch with EXO or f(x) (they have for everyone else) so now rumors are that they aren't going to KCON either :(((
