Political circles push for Rain to re-enlist in the army

Political circles in Korea are pushing for Rain's re-enlistment, along with KCM and a soldier 'C' that has already been released. Many are pointing out Psy's own re-enlistment into the army. The democratic party under the Ministry of Defense pointed out that Rain and some others had become a celebrity solider even though they hadn't provided the necessary documents.


One of the assemblymen pointed out, "Our country has compulsory military service, and it must be equal to all the citizens. But Rain became a celebrity recruit without even having to submit documents just because he is famous. Usually, celebrity recruits have an acceptance rate of 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 after all the documents are submitted, but it's obvious that he received special treatment."

Another assemblyman said, "Currently, there are talks about Rain's re-enlistment, but the exact point of the problem brought up was that 10 celebrity recruits were accepted even without proper documentation. Since that is a problem, they should re-enlist. It's not that their re-enlistment was emphasized [but rather just brought up]. It's true that it was pointed out as a problem, but this is a matter for the Ministry of Defense to decide on. It's also true that one of the 10 recruits are Rain, but the problem was not just for Rain. Also, the investigation was not limited to those related to the massage parlor incident, but to the entire celebrity recruit."

Ouch. While I somehow agree to Rain when it comes to re-enlisting, the rest of the serving celebrity recruits get it harsh too. The system is also at fault, it's plain and everyone can see it. I hope they get something befitting, instead of officials making sure everyone gets the harshest sentence to make up for the loopholes.

Unbiased person agrees with you. Rain and other recruits probably don't know every form that is required of them. Someone told them to turn up with the celebrity recruits, so they did.

If they made a mistake in accepting him in to the division then the mistake is indeed theirs. Maybe it was common practice to accept celebrity soldiers on the basis of their celebrity status (see the 10 recruits) and no one knew better. If the army asked for the proper documentation and received none then they shouldn't have been accepted. Simple as that.

No. The administrative official in charge should carry the responsibility on this one. Quid pro quo, the army got something they wanted from these celebrities that made them willing to bend the rules. The assemblymen should look into that as well.

Well, maybe re-enlist is the best choice for rain in order to clean his image. Psy did his army for 4yrs bcos he got caught during the first time and no one talked about his army after completing it for the 2nd time.

Love how Rain gets the heaviest mention out of 10 soldiers in violation. This is the first time I've seen KCM's name dropped. If you want to put them in jail for breaking this and that rule, it's fine. But don't make them do another 2 years for an administrative fumble. It's not like Rain was sneaking around. Everyone knew he was in the celeb division. That was almost entirely on the army to have made sure he had the proper paperwork.

No matter how the scenario plays out, there's no way Rain would just walk in there and say, no I'm not being grouped with everyone else and unless you put me in celeb division, I will...what? There's no threat Rain could give to strong arm his way into the division. Either someone neglected to tell him about the paperwork, or someone assured him he didn't have to worry about it. So while I'm sure Rain broke rules about wearing the uniform or leaving when he wasn't supposed to, I think it's bullshit to string him up for this paperwork.

while i think he should do a second term of enlistment, especially if he wants to return to the entertainment circles, cause K Netizens won't ever forget - poor Kangin did his service without any issues and still gets hated over for things he didn't do and things he did but apologized for. Rain did take advantage of the system with his being out uniform, cell phone, and other issues during his time in the celeb division.

overall is it the administrative's fault of the military who allowed him to pass through without the proper papers. and that is not fully Rain's fault. the administration should be punished.

Rain is being thrown under the bus, but his hands aren't completely clean.

Administration done fucked up one too many times and now they're trying to make very public examples of celebs to prove they can still do their jobs.

On the other hand, Rain might benefit from some sort of public moral gesture or at least acknowledgement of his blunders, considering the number of times he did show his ass in service. I am rooting for you oppa *bursts into tears*

I could be wrong, but I remember he enlisted "normally" and was pushed to join the celebrity soldiers later on.
In any case he could have informed himself properly about the required documents and submit them, on the other hands I wonder if the army administration doesn't bear responsibility for making sure everyone enlists properly.

His service seems like a joke to be quite honest and I really don't see any sort of pride or sincerity in him after doing his enlistment.
