Kdrama January might have felt like a packed month for crime and medical drama lovers, but empty for the romcom, fantasy and slice of life affecionados among us! So what does February hold in store? In this post I'll go over Kdramas airing in February.

Opinions are mine and should be taken lightly as they are just my first impressions. Other thoughts are welcomed!

-The actor revealed that he left his longtime agency Fantagio for a new start up agency he created with 3 three other people called Man of Creation (M.O.C).

-“It still feels surreal, but not much has actually changed. What makes being with a new agency meaningful for me is that for the first time, I was able to choose. Ever since I started acting, it was mostly the case where I was being chosen, but this was different. And it’s honestly exciting, to be spending an important part of my life here.”

- “These days, I haven’t really been able to go out much, but when I can, I go to a large bookstore in Seoul. Whenever I go to the bookstore, the first thing I do is to peruse the bestsellers. If there’s nothing I like there, I take my time looking around, and I’ll buy something that has a good recommendation and catches my eye. I generally read a lot of novels.”

Park Min Young and Seo Kang Joon will be starring in a drama together! In August, it was revealed that the two actors are in talks for the JTBC drama “I’ll Go to You When the Weather Is Nice” (literal title).

It was confirmed on September 17 that Park Min Young and Seo Kang Joon will be uniting as the leads for the drama.
The drama is based on a novel of the same title and is a warm romance story set in the countryside.

Park Min Young will be playing Mok Hae Won, an ordinary woman without any special characteristics besides having played cello since she was young. She uses that skill to step out into the professional world, but this only results in heartbreak and the loss of trust. She then decides to move back to a town in Gangwon Province, where she lived when she was young.

Seo Kang Joon’s character Im Eun Seob runs a small bookstore in Mok Hae Won’s hometown. He lives quite the simple lifestyle, starting his day by reading while drinking coffee and ending with a post for his bookstore blog. His life is shaken up a bit when Hae Won enters his life.

Seo Kang Joon and Esom star as a couple who’s fallen for each other’s “third charm”—the thing that makes otherwise unremarkable people shine like stars in your eyes.

The drama comes from PD Pyo Min-su (The Producers, The World They Live In, Full House) and writers Park Eun-young (Maundy Thursday) and Park Hee-kwon (The Flu), and is described as an epic poem that follows a couple through the four seasons, over the course of twelve years. We’ll follow the couple from age twenty to thirty-two: spring at age twenty, summer at age twenty-seven, and fall and winter at thirty-two.

On Joon Young (Seo Kang Joon) is a model student who is only satisfied when everything goes exactly as planned, while Lee Young Jae (Esom) is ruled by her emotions and spontaneity.

Yang Dong Geun will appear as Lee Young Jae’s older brother Lee Soo Jae. Lee Yoon Ji is Baek Joo Ran, Lee Young Jae’s best friend and an older woman in search of her one true love.

Seo Kang Joon and Esom have been confirmed for the new JTBC drama “The Third Charm”. The drama is a romantic comedy that will tell the 12-year saga of a relationship, following the lovers from the tender age of 20 all the way to 32.

Seo Kang Joon will be starring as On Joon Young, a meticulous, careful planner who never deviates from his perfectly scheduled routines. Far from being fashion-conscious, the 20-year-old On Joon Young is a clean-cut model student who sports glasses and is always dressed in neatly folded jeans, white socks, and spotless sneakers. The only thing in his life that doesn’t go according to plan is his relationship with the nosy, boisterous Lee Young Jae, whom he ends up meeting by chance on a group blind date.

Lee Young Jae, who will be played by Esom, is almost entirely On Joon Young’s opposite in terms of personality. Spontaneous, emotional, and charmingly honest, Lee Young Jae endured a difficult childhood in which she and her older brother grew up without parents. At the age of 20, the ambitious and hardworking Lee Young Jae forgoes college in order to work as an assistant in a hair salon.

“The Third Charm” will be helmed by director Pyo Min Soo, whose previous works include “Full House,” “Worlds Within,” “Hogu's Love,” and “The Producers.” The drama is scheduled to premiere in September.

Chief producer (CP) Lee Gun Joon and producing director (PD) Cha Young Hoon of KBS 2TV’s “Are You Human, Too?” shared their thoughts on a controversy surrounding their drama.

“Are You Human, Too?” became embroiled in a controversy as soon as it premiered on June 4 due to a violent scene where Nam Shin (played by Seo Kang Joon) slapped his female bodyguard Kang So Bong (played by Gong Seung Yeon) in the face.

I did gasp when I watched the scene last night. Reading this today does not make me want to even continue with the new episodes. Who the fuck is this director?

In the drama, Seo Kang Joon plays both Nam Shin, the wealthy heir to a conglomerate, and Nam Shin III, the advanced AI robot created in his image. Kim Sung Ryung plays the role of Nam Shin’s mother Oh Ro Ra, who works in AI research and development. After creating Nam Shin III in her son’s image, she develops a close bond with the robot, who is so close to being human that he can feel emotions.

When Nam Shin falls into danger, Oh Ro Ra ends up hatching a plot to have Nam Shin III secretly take her son’s place, and Oh Ro Ra goes from being Nam Shin III’s only friend to being his mother as well. The robot falls in love with a woman named Kang So Bong (played by Gong Seung Yeon). So Bong is a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who becomes a bodyguard for the robot.

Lee Joon Hyuk plays Ji Young Hoon, a man who helps replace Nam Shin with the robot. Yoo Oh Sung plays Seo Jong Gil, Nam Shin’s opponent in the company. Park Hwan Hee stars as Nam Shin’s fiancée Seo Ye Na. Park Young Gyu plays the distrusting head of the company Nam Geon Ho.

I've been looking forward to this for over a year, I can't believe it's finally actually happening. I love robot dramas and so far the previews make it seem like a good mix between action drama and goofy romcom. I have high hopes!

"Are you human too?" is a paradoxical question because it is raised by a robot with artificial intelligence (AI) -- the protagonist of an upcoming high-budget science fiction series on KBS 2TV.

The new drama, with the aforementioned question as its title, is one of the network's most anticipated television series for this year.

The full episodes have already completed filming, which took two years and cost more than 10 billion won (US$9.23 million). Starring Seo Kang-joon and Gong Seung-yeon, the 18-episode drama was partly filmed overseas, including in the Czech Republic, and extensively uses computer graphics to express the highly advanced AI technology.
