Article: Reality behind trainees being used for sexual favors revealed "$1,000 if you're a trainee from a big agency" shock

Former celebrity trainee revealed, "I was a minor at the time but still received countless offers to go out and drink with (the higher officials). There are actual entertainment agencies who downgraded into becoming brokers to hook up trainees with sponsors."

A broker revealed, "We have the profiles of celebrity trainees, students majoring in the fine arts, miscellaneous works like home shopping stars, as well as trainees under big name agencies. It costs the sponsor $250 for one meet up with a trainee. If the trainee is young or from a bigger agency, the cost rises to the $800 to $1,000 USD range. Sponsors are asked to make appointments the day before and are required to be registered in the client list."

The episode airs on the 29th.

1. [+337, -22] Not much of a difference between a prostitute and a female celebrity

2. [+230, -30] Why act so surprised? Not like this is anything new. If any girl tells you that she's becoming a celebrity, you can pretty much bet she's prostituting herself out like this.

3. [+126, -6] I bet the trainees who actually give sexual favors are either a part of some nobody company or have no hope of actually making a debut. And when they say 'big agency', I'm betting it's a trainee that was cut from a big agency or quit because I'm having a hard time believing that a trainee in a top 3 agency would risk everything to do this. They're the ones that control the music market and the broadcast channels so they don't really need to suck up to anyone to raise their stars...

4. [+19, -6] I bet if they really wanted to investigate this, the question wouldn't be which star has done it but which star hasn't done it

5. [+16, -1] Reminds me of what Sayuri said. They're just selling their bodies for success if they're not being forced into it, tsk tsk

6. [+11, -3] I heard companies keep a set of real trainees and a set of trainees they use for sexual favors

Mods there is an article on Soompi but it says the same thing except the translation on Netizenbuzz seems better to me.

you know what annoys me, while yes, this happens, yes sadly many girls are forced into this, but netizens act like every single female that succeeds somehow, no matter what field or how long it took for her to get that, or age, that she has a sponsor and it makes me so fucking pissed.

Lol I guess it didn't piss you off enough when you made those jokes about Hyorin giving blowjobs to get to where she is

was that a bad joke and crude? yes, i admit it was and of incredible bad taste, but it doesn't mean that how i truly see it, or that i am a bad person for making it. if in that article was about boy group members saying about how they got their leadership and done gave the same answer i would have given the same unfortunate comment. not that you would believe in what i just said.

and even if i truly believed and meant that, who says i haven't changed my mind and walked one step forward to become a better person, while you clearly hold on that bad side of me.

I didn't say you were a bad person tho. I just found the comment to be incredibly ironic given your history of poor/sexist comments in regards to female idols.

if in that article was about boy group members saying about how they got their leadership and done gave the same answer i would have given the same unfortunate comment.

And I would still find the comment to be in poor taste as it shifts the blame entirely on the individual idol rather than the more insidious entertainment culture that allows for a system of exploitation to exist. Why make those comments in the first place anyways? It's not funny to make a joke about someone being exploited in order to gain success even if they chose to do so.

Misogynistic assholes. Let's ignore how the system is created and sustained where girls are at times forced to provide these favours for the future of others in their groups or agencies.

this applies to both genre of course, predators are seeking young blood with their own preference... again society views females as prostitutes more easily while not mentioning male... be it the casting couch or favors to sponsors... it's a time immemorable fact...

this is really sad to me, and even more sad that it doesn't sound all too surprising anymore.

honestly dont think the big 3s are excluded from this even if the half a hand over the industry cos come on, they still need connections where their power aint that great.

This reminds me of the escorting for tuition thing people do here, this is kind of more depressing though.

The comments, smh

It's not really a "choice" if the options were either A) "to give sexual favors in order to advance in the industry" and B) "to forget your lifelong dream of being an idol/model/actress". The problem here is that there are people (mostly men?) who ASKS for it, and rather than the trainees (could be women and men, I suppose) who deliberately offers it out of their own greed.

And I bet the money isn't going to the girls' pocket anyway....

I like how netizens are just douches who know what's up but don't care to change anything, rather just accept it happens and mock trainees as sluts. Fucking idiots

I heard companies keep a set of real trainees and a set of trainees they use for sexual favors
I've thought about that as well.

Does anyone believe the "big three" are immune from these transactions? It could go either way in my opinion (but the big three probably do less of it). While they have influence, not all artists start off huge from these companies. I mean, the whole PD music show articles show even large companies have limited power.

notice how the article says trainee and doesn't attach a gender to the people. i don't think it's too out there to assume it's girls and boys being forced into doing these things. and going off what the person said about investigating, authorities should really apply some time to finding out what companies are doing this shit

Fuck those netizens and their misogynistic comments! >:(

It says nowhere in this article that it's only "female trainees". I'm sure there are male ones too!

But no matter who it happens to, it's terrible!

I remember reading about the whole casting couch thing from a TV actor in India. It doesn't just apply to women but men too and I think it would be naive to think that the same doesn't happen else where too.

Seriously upset over the attitude of netizens who don't have anything negative to say about the 'demand' end of this thing!?!
