MC Mong has just released the teaser video for his new single Indian Boy ahead of his 5th album, Humanimal release on 23rd July.
Indian Boy which has a strong Native American flavor to it was composed and written by MC Mong himself. He will be promoting the song from 23 - 26th July through M! Countdown, Music Bank, Music Core and ending with Inkigayo.
Some people have been making claims that MC Mong is being ignorant of the Native American culture and that the word "Indian" is a derogatory term.

Again, there's that whole debate that "Korea isn't exposed to Native American culture as much so we should excuse them", but I mean he shouldn't use that concept (if it was completely decision, sorry I'm still kinda unfamiliar with MC Mong) if he doesn't really have a clue about the true meaning behind the use in that sense of "Indian".

Date: 2009-07-21 04:49 am (UTC)I don't have a problem with his using a Native American theme but from the MV it's used in a wrong way, totally based off of stereotypes. There's a difference between how Gwen Stefani used harajuku girls to this concept. Gee, if you are going to be inspired by a group of people at least learn about them and respect them.
Let me just say if this was released in America. There would be so much chaos & MC Mong would be banished.
