New Girl group ranking chart

Korean media outlet Sports Chosun has released their '2013 Girl Group Ranking' after consulting with music industry insiders on who they feel are the hottest girl groups these days.

Back in February of last year, a netizen created a ranking of girl groups and posted it on a community board, attracting much attention from fans. Sports Chosun has decided to follow up by releasing their own version and updating that previously revealed ranking, after having received input from sources in the music industry.

Just like the previous ranking, Girls' Generation and 2NE1 remained at the top tier, which is called the 'insurmountable 4D wall (on another level)'. Following behind them is SISTAR, who has jumped up one level with their winning streak of hit songs in 2012, and is now on the 'national'level, which is where KARA still remains.

T-ara and Wonder Girls moved down to the third level 'High Class', joining miss A and Brown Eyed Girls. T-ara was downgraded due to their controversy involving former member Hwayoung's leave last year, and Wonder Girls received their downgrade with the focusing on their solo activities following Sun's recent marriage. Meanwhile, f(x) kept their position between the second and third tiers.

Girl's Day who surprised the nation with their sexy comeback also moved up to the level of SECRET, After School, and 4minute on the 4th tier, 'Mania Level'. A Pink, Rainbow, Dal Shabet remained at the same level, and were joined by Nine Muses in the 5th tier of 'rising popularity'. SPICA, Hello Venus, Ladies'Code, and AOA, as rookies, made the cut off at the 6th and final tier or 'candidates'.

while i do think that sistar became really popular, it is too early to place them next to kara, i think they need a new comeback to prove that they will stay there, so i think they place would be between the national level and the high class level.

and for the legend alone, wonder girls should never be removed from the national level.

Yeah I feel like Sistar can have hit SONGS but the group members as a whole (minus Hyorin I guess) don't have as widespread exposure as KARA group members. I don't think they're on the same level either.

Agreed...everybody and their mama will forever remember how Tell Me and Nobody go, so national still sounds right. I mean the WG are in grade school textbooks mang.

Girls Day though, I think they deserve it. Their exposure has been on the up and up since Twinkle Twinkle (which apparently was THE song of spring/summer 2011).

They consulted people who are more credible enough to say who are actually popular to people/endorse products better/sell good merchandise in S.K. so they should know better that 2NE1 are of the same level as SNSD, altho I have to say that there can be a small margin of error if we're talking about exact statistics here.

Not surprised at the ranking, seems pretty accurate imo but i would place SNSD above 2ne1 (#1,#2 and then everyone else) Soshi has Korea and Japan, and while 2ne1 does good in Korea they have nothing in japan so they can't really be on the same level based on sales, tours, endorsements, awards, recognition and influence.

So proud of Nine Muses. They totally deserved the success from DOLLS.

I know this chart should be taken with a grain of salt but seeing Spica at the bottom just confirms that they are still considered as newbies/rookies which is sad because they're all so talented,(even more than a lot of other new groups out there imo) but oh well.

And wow, 4minute, I didn't expect them to be ranked that low. I remember back then when they promoted Muzik/Hot Issue they were like the shit lol. Although I do agree that they currently aren't as popular as the 3rd tier groups.
