A manager who threatened his actor with videos he took of the actor engaging in homosexual acts was indicted by prosecution.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors′ Office revealed on March 20 that it had booked manager Mr. Gu, as well as another manager Mr. Baek, for blackmailing an actor into paying 4 million won using the videos.

The managers were in charge of guarding the actor and driving him around, and so lived with the actor at his home. When the actor continued to engage in sexual contact with Baek, the two purchased a pen camera through the internet and filmed the actor while he was engaging in homosexual acts in August 2010.

The two then sent a CD containing the videos to the actor′s parents, saying that they would turn over the original files in exchange for 500 million won.

Following the threat, the actor sent Gu 4 million won, but they did not stop and continued to threaten him, sending over 45 text messages.

Actor Park's manager 'Goo' (30) installed a pen sized camera and hid it in A's home and used his second manager 'Baek' (28) to go in and seduce him into gay acts. Other parts of his private life were also recorded. The managers then sent the recording to his parents and threatened him by saying that they will release it to the public if he doesn't give them $500,000 USD.

The actor gave them $4,000 USD before eventually reporting it to the police after he was bombarded with 45 texts of threat for more.

That second article. I have some k-friends that told me about certain celebrities (and sasaengs with photos), honestly, I hope they're helped but quietly because if even their company got out, that would be some shit foreal. Though that's highly unlikely because of corruption and they would have to do nearly a complete overhaul, imo.

This is my friend right here. He hears about the sexual acts pop groups are forced to do to get ahead and then goes and insists that his favs (SNSD, Wonder Girls, etc.) are too pure and good to do such a thing. That their companies have so much power they wouldn't have to do that. Nu-uh, dude, that's probably how all the super popular/famous groups got the start they did.

While I also think that some people/idols/idol groups might have participated in sexual acts to get higher up I think it is a bit reaching to assume that every big and popular act got their start that way.

But if you think about that's how idol groups/companies win favor with the people who put them on shows, it's not actually all that reaching to assume a good majority of the most popular groups now are being pushed the way they are because of these reasons.
Think about it, the sexual acts are done to ensure a spot on tv shows or music channels. They're done to ensure they get ahead. People assume the big companies don't do this because they have so much power, but chances are the big companies are engaged in this activity just as much as the smaller ones.
I would be more surprised if the most popular idol groups now DIDN'T have to engage in these activities to get the start they did. Especially female idol groups, as I see them as being targeted by the (presumably)men who force their idols to do these things to get ahead.

I really despise people like that. So it's okay to judge and talk trash about people, until your bias is involved. And noone is too good and pure, some people are lucky and other have no support network or help and are forced, or sometimes are willing to be exploited by assholes in power.

My thoughts exactly! Some people get lucky and never have to get involved in activities like this, but chances are they know someone who does. I could even see only a few members of a group being targeted, and even if those people weren't willing, what would they do if they were told that the success of their group depends on them?
I could see a lot of people then choosing to "take it for the team" because then it's not just their dream getting ruined if they don't do it, but their fellow members.

I hate that...in the vast majority of these cases people are coerced into it anyway, which makes them a victim in my eyes, especially considering how young most groups are when they get popular. It's upsetting to think about it happening (not just to your faves, but to anyone) but to deny it is really stupid.
