The reason for Ga-In's sometimes distant personality

Lyricist Kim Eana, in a 2010 interview:

"When Ga-In was younger, she grew up with a lot of pain that developed into wounds. She has a habit of facing the wall whenever she cries, and for a while, all we ever saw was her back. She eventually just turned those cries into silence, and I think that's why people get the impression that she's arrogant..."
"She's never one to complain or whine. She's grown far too much since then... Actually, I don't think grown is the appropriate word because she learned to hide herself instead."

After mentioning that fandoms of another idol group would swear at her, throw objects, and point their fingers at her at broadcast halls or event performances:
"Sometimes, I grew so enraged seeing that that I just wanted to give up my position as staff and grab those kids by the neck collar to teach them a lesson. Ever since then, Ga-In has had trouble opening herself up to anyone she isn't close with and treating them with sincerity."

I've always got that sense from her. Not that she was arrogant but that she always seem to be smothering something behind her smile? I don't know, but I have the same issue (people mistaking it for arrogance) and recognized it right away in Ga-in. Even when she was on WGM and all giddy with jo kwon.

It's very easy to think one is arrogant because what they have been through. In a lot of ways I am this way, just like Ga-In. I constantly get mistaken as arrogant because I don't make eye contact, I don't talk much in public, and sometimes I often get anxious and antsy to leave, and people think that I do this because I think that I am better than everyone, which isn't true. This makes me want to give her a big hug.

i get that and it happens. it doesn't surprise me that people in this post can relate because i find a lot of people from the internet take solace in the fact that it's a different kind of interaction. shitty that people think that way about her but i hope as she gets older she can be more comfortable. it's a really weird place to be in.
