Out of the celebrities summoned for propofol abuse, it has been revealed that Park Si Yeon and Lee Seung Yeon had been administered propofol more than 100 times.

The Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office released their intermediate investigation results, where they revealed that they would be charging two doctors and a ‘Lee’ that has been administering propofol. They also indicted Park Si Yeon, Lee Seung Yeon, and Jang Mi In Ae, who have been regularly administered propofol 100 times or more. For 4 others including Hyun Young, who had a small amount of propofol adminstered for a short time, a fine will be issued.

According to their investigations, Park Si Yeon had been administered propofol 185 times from February 2011 to December 2012, disguising it under having carboxy therapies. Lee Seung Yeon had been administered it 111 times from February 2011 to December 2012, while using the excuse of Botox procedures. Jang Mi In Ae had 95 times from December 2011 to September 2012, and Hyun Young had gotten it 42 times.

korea has strict drug laws, but maybe they should focus on why people have these problems in the first place.

but that goes for a lot of countries including my own.

Going to the roots of addiction would be chaotic tho, not everyone has the same story on why they become addicted, it goes from genetic predisposal, abuse, neglecting parents, coping, chronic disease, depression and the list goes on.

So it's easier to control drug distribution and drug use, and harsh drug laws can scare people off from doing drugs in many cases.

But drugs aren't the real problem, addiction is. If they aren't proper avenues available for people to control/work trough their addiction then drug peddlers will just take advantage and benefit from the strict drug laws because addicts will get their drugs by any means. Addicts, like Si Yeon may likely be, don't see another option. The drugs are probably more accessible to her then proper drug treatment, also social stigma against drug rehabilitation in many societies prevents people from seeking help. Strict drug laws may put away some drug dealers, but it also puts away addicts who are in need of help and they probably won't receive proper care in jail. I'm sure there are rehabilitation facilities and there should be more emphasis on rehabilitation(whatever the cause of their addiction may be) than sweepingly strict drug laws. All thats doing is putting more people in jail but not helping the issue of drug abuse.

I agree about everything you said esp about putting more emphasis in rehab and not punishment to addicts, but the op was talking about focusing on -why- people have this problems in the first place that's why i said that trying to focus on the cause would be impossible since everyone has a different story.

I think rehabilitation is all about getting to the "why" for each individuality so I think me and the op may be on the say track lol. Yea,I agree publicly addressing each individual why is impossible but at least informing the public that the -why- of drug abuse in general is about addiction which needs treatment and education instead of harsh punishment wouldn't be so hard. Harsh punishment in general, is never the way to go. It solves nothing because it doesnt get to the root of the issue and usually ends up producing more criminals.
