Shinee's Dream Girl under plagiarism accusation !?

SM Entertainment has yet to comment but a popular spanish kpop related blog has noticed the similarities between Shinee's 'Dream Girl' and Mexican Singer Luis Miguel's song 'Vuelve' (released in 2003). The similarity is noted especially during the chorus.

They might have covered their asses by uploading that video.
But anyway, Dream Girl wasn't created by the in-house producers of SM. If someone's in danger it should be the joombas studio.
I remember when Hyori used those plagiarised songs. It was the producer who took the blame in the end.

I'm going to give Shin Hyuk the benefit of the doubt cause we saw him humming the song during its conception. The song is really old so maybe it didn't occur to him that the melody he came up with was from a song he heard years ago. Granted, Luis Miguel's Si Te Vas pops up in my head yearly lol, but who knows. We'll see.

Although, I'm sure this isn't going to tarnish that image at all. Especially since there's been no official allegation or claim from "Vuelve" copyright holders (or whatever people who own songs are called).

The chorus does sound very similar, but that's about all I hear that's similar. I mean it's not that uncommon to have a similar beat in chorus between two songs, right?

Either way, I love both songs and I am loving this comeback.

I'm tempted to say that there's a collection of musical influences that both songs are drawing from? Don't ask me to name those influences/styles right now because I suck at that kind of memory formation, but it's not like either of those songs are particularly revolutionary/experimental (however much I love Dream Girl). It's just that that style of song hasn't been in style for a long time. The similarity wouldn't seem so obvious if this was a prominent style right now.

The fact that Dream Girl as an album is very cohesive points more to an accidental similarity (heard it before, surfaced in the composer's mind independent of knowing specifically where they heard it before) than a purposeful one.

I'm not hearing it. The horns especially in Vuelve make it clear that there is a different melody in Vuelve versus Dreamgirl. Essentially, in Dreamgirl, only the boys are carrying the melody for the verses with heavy bass and occasional electric guitar. Vuelve is more of everything! More more more horns more guitar, more bongos, more kick drum more everything. I mean, Luis' voice is awesome, but there's so much underneath that. I'd hate to compare the two, also because there are five singers instead of just one, they can do more vocal acrobatics than he can per line.
