I'm glad this drama ended on a happy note. It seemed to fit even if it wasn't the most *realistic* or whatever.
I still don't really understand why Dok Mi didn't go to Spain with him though lol. It's not like she had many friends/family/work holding her to Korea, so it was hard to really get invested in the that conflict.
EDITOR LADY AND DONGHOOOOOON SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE omg. I love that Jin Rak called them out on liking each other with his next story idea.
"Eh" was my only reaction to the finale since the past few episodes had pretty much killed my interest in any characters except the Donghoon-editor couple D:
I was mad at Dok Mi for the beginning of episode 15 but I'm glad everything worked out okay in the end!! Kkae-geum and Dok Mi couple are seriously sweeter than rainbows and puppies, haha.
Loved the Dong Hoon/Editor Lady couple's ending as well, Jin Rak's "What's up with this beggar couple" comment at the end had me laughing out loud!
BTW, I was major crushing on Yoon Shi Yoon when he was singing by the bonfire in episode 16 <33 why is he so precious?!
Imma agree with dramabeans' complaint on how the story went sorta south and predictable.
I liked this drama but just like with me too, flower, the love story completely drowns the female lead's inner conflict and becomes the magic bandaid to solving it. it's really crappy to tell women who deal with depression, suicidal thoughts, and severe anxiety like those two leads that all they need is a whimsical boyfriend to solve their problems.
Exactly. Why couldn't Dok Mi heal herself through the support of a loving boyfriend and friends? They lost a good opportunity to say something really meaningful. I'm not denying that I enjoyed it and that I'm judging it more harshly than other mediocre dramas that I hold no expectations for but the last few episodes irked me. I'm also sour about how they ended things with Jin Rak. I'm not saying I wanted him to get the girl but something better than one of the most cliched endings in the whole of Asian fiction - look a like booby prize.
Still, the characterizations were wonderful and I will remember them for a while.
even though this drama didn't end amazingly, I have to say that enjoyed how much they stressed honest communication. He kept telling her to be honest with how she felt and what she wanted, and it showed they actually learned how to do that. this is opposite to most dramas where they just lie, fight, and then some how forgive each other.
I gotta admit my love for this drama had died down during the last 4 episodes, basically when the whole Spain/fangirls conflict started. It was dumb and showed lazy writing in the way they dragged the conflict on for 4 episodes just enough to finish the drama, like they had run out of ideas. I don't mind conflict plot-lines as long as they make sense and aren't dragged out to the point it bored me.
And I know that at that point in the drama (both had confessed) it was hard to come up with more for the story but they could've gone more into the Editor and Dong Hoon's story, or more about Dokmi's book, her career, more about Seoyoung and Enrique's brother, Enrique's career, etc. The Spain conflict would've been fine and fit in the story but I just don't think it need 4 episodes about it. That's why this only gets a 4.
But I was satisfied with the ending. I liked that they didn't try to fix every broken relationship and put people together just for the sake of it, some got happiness, some got hope, and others stayed living the same way. That's realistic and still makes me happy. I would've liked more cute moments between the OTP and Dong Hoon & PD because they are super adorable! Jinrak is a cutie and any girl would be lucky to have him, I liked how he turned into cupid LOL.
Oh and I liked how Hakyung from School 2013 made that cameo haha!
IA the whole crazy fangirl thing was so dumb and dragged on too long. I even skipped some parts. And I don't get why he had to go to Spain to do a game. I mean Spain is cool and all but I don't think it's known for it's games or whatever. Korea on the other hand.. And the fake outs at the end were lame.
I disagree with the last part though. They did exactly what you think they didn't do imo, tied everything neatly with a bow. Every characters got their own happy endings, even the Japanese guy who was pretty useless throughout.
I am happy with the unrealistic and neatly tied up package of a happy ending. I have enough angst and drama in my life and I watch this stuff for the escapism. Excuse me while I live in a fantasy world for a while.
+1 to loving the Dong Hoon/editor couple. I ended up rooting for them as much as Enrique and Dok Mi.
Overall i was satisfied by the ending and the drama it was amazingly fresh and unique from the start and how it was progressing but i gotta admit that it was going a bit downhill on the predictable road like midway through the series but eh, what can you get with a rom-com but cheesiness and predictability.
The end wrapped things up quite neatly but very cheesy to say the least. Im just glad that at least do hwi and dok mi didnt end up as friends again because that would have been just waaay too much in the sappy/happily-ever-after deep end and would've been totally unnecessary.
I LOVED THE EDITOR-DONGHOON COUPLE THO :DD they were so cute i cant. And i guess everyone got what they wanted in the end...still cant get over how cheesy everything was tho lol jin rak getting his own 'dok mi', do hwi getting a guy that likes her for who she is AND is some CEO's son, the sappy running at the end etc -__-
the last few eps really weren't as good. i don't know, i couldn't really completely buy into their romance for some reason. mostly on dokmi's side. they were really cute and fluffy and everything but it still seemed a bit off.
i'm so glad the editor and donghoon got together kekeke the love cake scene when she walked in was a lot of fun
I liked it - it wasn't spectacular, but it was good and thank god for the kiss because UNF.
Though what I really appreciate is that it didn't pull the typical kdrama tricks like magically redeeming the antagonist and pairing up the second leads or - worse- having the OTP get all Big Misunderstanding on us. Didn't love the saseng fans but it's still one of my fav dramas this year and I think YSY+PSH has actually overtaken JGS+PSH in my favourite drama pairings stakes, ha.
i was uninterested towards the last episodes but overall it was a pretty good drama and would recommend it to ppl. yoon shi yoon with black hair thoooooooooo >>>>>>>>
I really liked the drama till the end, the last two eps were just Love love love love love love love LOVE SOLVES ALL!! And it was alittle annoying having it mentioned 10 times.
Having said that the eps had some great parts to, people being honest and no fake happy endings. But I wish that Enrique had atleast mentioned some of his dreams or something, like I still don't know about what he wanted from life or his future.
But I'm so sad, my weekly dose of Kim Ji Hoon is now gone, No and I didn't get to see his post army abs either, where were the angsty shower scenes:(
I rated the drama a 4 because it wasn't perfect but it did give me a lot of laughs and I did enjoy the storyline for the majority of it.
And it gets bonus points for having the cutest side couple in the history of dramas!!! Seriously, I was jumping around my living room and squealing over those two. LITERALLY! lol I was going crazy but they were just so adorable and I loved them to bits. They made me happy :)
The first episodes were perfection. I agree the last four were kinda okay, but until the first kiss this drama was totally worth it. Yoon really made me laugh and he was the cutest thing everrrr. I now really stan for both Yoon and PSH.
