‘Flower Boys Next Door’ Is Sold to Japan for Record Amount
TvN’s Flower Boys Next Door is heading to Japan - after earning a handsome amount.
On January 28, tvN revealed it had recently sold the broadcast rights for the popular drama to Japan for the highest price yet for a Korean cable series.
As the third part of tvN’s “Flower Boys” series, Flower Boys Next Door has been receiving solid viewership and most recently lodged a 3.26 viewership rating.
According to tvN, Flower Boys Next Door will begin airing in Japan beginning in May. In addition, the series will air in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and more for a total of ten different countries in Asia in the near future.
The romantic comedy is based on a popular webtoon and stars Park Shin Hye, Yoon Shi Yoon and others.

The Flower Boys Next Door Twitter tweeted this picture of Kim Ji Hoon on January 29 saying, “Kim Ji Hoon’s Japanese fans sent us all hot packs to the set! We wanted to let you know the atmosphere became warmer too thanks to these hot packs >.<.”

i'm so glad i like this show! it's like, actual physical relief. i hated Enrique at the start and he has grown on me so much. i love his relationship with everyone. he is the glue!
also the previews are killing me, i need to know!

Date: 2013-02-01 03:40 am (UTC)I'm still on the Enrique/Dok Mi ship, but damn Jin Rak has been having some moments that are making me second guess it! The more confident/open he gets about his feelings the more I think him and Dok Mi could understand each other, maybe in a way Enrique couldn't understand her? And the fact that she's helped him out a few times... I just don't know. For now though I'm still shipping the canon couple.
I liked that Dok Mi and Enrique had their first big fight/conflict BEFORE they fell in love as oppose to after. I'm not sure why, it just feels more... natural this way? Like they're learning how to be friends, before they learn how to be a couple? Seems more realistic too maybe.
I can't believe Do Hwi PERPETUATED that rumor she made up in high school on the roof top. The difference this time though, is that these guys are mature enough to look past what one person says about Dok Mi, and either A. accept whatever she did or B. know there might be more to the story. I really want Dok Mi to open up to SOMEONE about what happened in high school though because you can SEE it weighing so heavily on her *sigh*. I just don't want her to be dealing with all this hurt alone anymore.
I thought it was hilarious that Dong Hoon really ISN'T a playboy. He picks up all these drunk girls... to drive them home haha. It made me see his character in a completely new light, and I love him even more now!
Editor lady continues to be dead hilarious.
Seo Young (i think that's her name) continues to be a whiny, selfish, brat. I hope Enrique tells her to GTFO and go to Spain alone (though I think it's pretty obvious he doesn't go with her, at least not right away.)

Date: 2013-02-01 04:18 am (UTC)And the first scene of episode 8, where Enrique and Dok Mi are having a serious and emotional conversation, with Jin Rak peeping behind the dumpster. the way how the comedy undercuts the serious is awesome. both the emotionally heavy stuff and comedy are excellent.
TL;DR: So far everything about this show is awesome.

Date: 2013-02-01 04:58 am (UTC)i even like do hwi in a small way. i almost want them to be friends again but that's a hard thing to do; to trust someone who hurt you so badly and bullied you etc so i don't think it would be for the best although they could set that up. i just want do hwi to grow up etc but idk i do enjoy her in a way.
the rest of them (dok mi + 4 boys) are so great too. it made me happy when everyone was sitting at the table after cooking the paella because it was like they formed their own family because they're all kind of lonely/drifters and being with people to ground them really helps instead of retreating inside yourself.
i got so upset when dok mi got upset at enrique. park shin hye is a really great actress and they've also made her incredibly relateable which i appreciate. i can't wait for next week!

i think the guy who plays jin rak IS SO FUCKING HOT but i cannot stand his character at all
it's like he makes dok mi what /he/ wants her to be, without bothering to wonder what she is really like. that is probably part of the reason he was so comfortable not interacting with her for THREE YEARS

Jin Rak puts her on a faraway pedestal, while Enrique barges right in/acts as if he knows exactly who she is when there's still a long way to go. *crosses fingers* I'm hoping that there's character growth and at the end of it all there's understanding + healthy relationships, because that'd be amazing.

I HONESTLY hope he ditches Seo Young (with some big smart ass speech) cause what she's doing isn't cool at all. I remember in the 3rd episode preview Enrique was going to the airport and Dok Mi said Don't go / leave. But he was on the phone so who knows how they'll play that one.
Even though until now I defended Jin Rak's behavior cause he liked her for so long and then suddenly this kid appears from nowhere and everything seems to go smoothly for him around Dok Mi, he annoyed me in the last two episodes, cause he constantly gave Enrique those like ~I liked her first and no one else can~ looks. And that ~don't be interested in he at all~ someone might find cute, but not me.
Do Hwi is getting more ridiculous by ever episode, really. The way she interpreted the story was unbelievable. I'm glad how on the contrary the guys weren't so fast to believe her.
More of Dong Hoon, please. He is so ridiculous, I love him.

I usually get a bit annoyed by the love-triangles in dramas these days but this one I'm actually finding myself looking forward to for some strange reason. Perhaps it has something to do with how Enrique is so cute to Jin Rak and how they have been getting along recently...I'm a bit curious about whether that will change.

Date: 2013-02-03 08:00 pm (UTC)Enrique remains cute and I like how Dok Mi obviously cares about him, way more than she lets on - like breaking up his hug with Seoyoung, I mean, she could have not remembered that or done anything. Now I just need a scene where she actually admits it to herself!
The drama just makes me laugh so much. Editor-nim is great and so is Jinrak with his shouting. I am just so amused at how he is ALMOST ALWAYS yelling, it's hilarious. And of course, it's usually followed with Dong Hoon getting all whiny fake-crying "what are you yelling at me for? what's wrong with you, hyuuung?"
The reveal about Dong Hoon being a DD has got me even more curious about him. Well, I was curious about him before, but yea obviously we're all wondering what he's working so hard for. And why he isn't doing more with his drawing talent since he obviously has skills in that area.
