5-member idol group MYNAME will release a movie in Japan about their practice, debut and growth in Japan.
On the 22nd, MYNAME told SportsSeoul.com in an interview, “We have cranked in a movie depicting MYNAME’s activities in Japan in April. Insoo and Seyong will play the leading roles, but JunQ, Chaejin and Gunwoo will also act in the movie.”
Past movies with idol groups include 1998′s ‘Seventeen’ with Sechs Kies and 2007′s ‘Attack Of The Pin-up Boys’ with Super Junior. ‘I AM’, a movie about SM Entertainment’s 32 artists, showed the idols’ growth, but it was in a documentary form and featured many groups, making it different from MYNAME’s movie.
This movie still has no title currently. 1000 actresses turned up in Japan to vie for the lead actress role, raising anticipation for the movie. This shows the level of awareness of MYNAME in Japan although they made their debut not long ago.
This production was filmed 40% in Korea and 60% in Japan. Because the movie was filmed in both Korean and Japanese locations, the script uses both languages.
MYNAME said, “We are anticipating acting with the members. Of course we still haven’t gotten our status as singers now, so our activities as actors might be a negative thing. Rather than trying to gain something from acting in this production, we want to let more people know about MYNAME. We want to focus on showcasing our diverse charms.”
Saying that, MYNAME have no support of their acting abilities, and they don’t even think about winning using their popularity.
There is a lot of anticipation for Seyong acting as one of the lead roles in this movie. Seyong even dreamt of becoming an actor, graduated from an arts highschool, and majored in acting at Seoul Institute of the Art. He has enough acting basics for the entire agency’s staff to pick him as the best actor among the MYNAME members.
Seyong showed his anticipation by saying, “I think this is a good chance. Firstly, I will do my best and make the film shine. We will be releasing not only an album in 2013, but will also release a movie and have concerts.”
This movie is planned to be released in Japan. There are still no plans to release it in Korea. MYNAME’s representatives said, “We will have to consult the Japanese writers, but there is still no intention of releasing it in Korea.”
Meanwhile, MYNAME will be starting promotions for their 2nd single ‘Such A Thing’, and will release a single album in Japan in March.
