Drama Synopsis: Set three years after the death of National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Kim Hyeon Jun (Lee Byun Hun), members of S.Korea's National Security Services (NSS) TF-A Team, including Jung Yoo Gun (Jang Hyuk), Ji Soo Yeon (Lee Da Hae), and other agents attempt to pull the curtain off the mysterious group IRIS. While Agent Yoo Gun goes up against Baek San (Kim Young Chul), Yoo Gun becomes involved in a case which changes his fate forever.

Recent News about "IRIS 2":

On Jan. 2nd: Lee Bum Soo, who plays a N.Korean terrorist in "IRIS 2," was reported to have hidden from the staff an serious injury sustained from filming in Cambodia in order to make a better shot. Lee describes his character as "...Both an ideologically-driven man and an inquiring, conflicted philosopher, and he loves and sacrifices for his nation in his own way. I want to portray him as an antagonist, but as a complex, living and philosophizing antagonist, not a simply type-set man”.

On Jan. 8th: DSP Media announced KARA's Kang Ji Young, after much discussion, has chosen not to take on the role of Song Chae Ran, a NSS agent. There is talk that T-ARA's Soyeon is a replacement candidate for the role.

On Jan. 9th: Yoon Doojoon of BEAST was praised for easily mastering a difficult action scene with co-star Lee Bum Soo, when filming in Cambodia. A representative from "IRIS 2" commented, “Yoon DooJoon’s enthusiasm for his work has led to easy filming for that scene” and, “Through ‘IRIS 2′, we are able to see Yoon Doojoon’s rediscovered acting skills of another level.”


The Cast:

Jang Hyuk Jung Yoo Gun, a police officer turned leader of the NSS TF-A Team.

Lee Da Hae Ji Soo Yeon, a NSS TF-A agent who is an Olympic gold medalist in shooting. On a daily basis, she is an off the wall character, but demonstrates exemplary talent in completing missions as the only woman on the team.

Lee Bum So Yoo Joong Won, a N.Korean spy who travels the world on his own, fulfilling missions and taking part in espionage activities. Through this, he jumps into the middle of the affair between NSS and IRIS, and gradually gains more influence over the north side.

Oh Yeon Su Choi Min, an elite agent who worked for the United States' Pentagon and NSS's newly appointed deputy director of operations. He leads the reformation of NSS and turning it back into a covert agency.

Yoon Dojoon (of BEAST) Seo Hyun Woo, NSS's elite agent who excells at shooting, martial arts, cracking codes, and foreign languages. 

Lee Joon (of MBLAQ) Yoon Si Hyuk, the short-tempered and straightforward NSS security agent. 

Kim Young Chul Baek San, the NSS Vice Director (role reprised from the original "IRIS.")

Kim Seung Woo Park Chul Young, a N.Korean agent/ bad guy (role reprised from "IRIS" and "Athena: Goddess of War.")

Kim Min Jon Kim Gi Soo, a N.Korean defector who secretly sent intelligence back to N.Korea (role reprised from "Athena: Goddess of War.")

Note: Oops! Forgot to add it will start airing on Feb. 13th on KBS 2. For for those that get KBS World on their TV, it will air sometime this March (with English subs obviously.) Yet to be seen if or when websites such as Hulu or Drama Fever will add subbed episodes.

I didn't watch IRIS, so i probably won't watch this buuuuuut...

Thank you for making a drama post OP! i saw people mentioning in a thread that they wanted to know more about upcoming dramas, I was worried I'd have to do it all alone T_T! There's so many dramas coming out every month it's craaaaazy!

PS - I dunno about anything else, but Doojoon looks kinda hot as a special agent.

PPS - The drama starts airing Feb 13th!

Lol, I totally forgot to add the airing date! thanks for the reminder :) and your welcome! I was dying to make a post about IRIS 2 actually. I really enjoyed watching IRIS, (BEWARE SPOILER!) despite its ending. And Athena was meh :/ but I'm crossing my fingers for this one! I'm super curious to see how Dojoon does as an actor and secret agent, and he really looks the part! And Joonie... /flails like the obsessed fangirl she is/ EEEEE!! o(≧∇≦o)

wanted so badly to love Iris and Athena but it didn't work out. high hopes for Iris 2

They actually made a movie out of the original drama by cutting out scenes and adding a few extras to make it work, basically editing down the series to movie length. I'm guessing that's why you thought this one was going to be a movie :)

oh damn i've got to find that movie! i couldn't sit through the drama, idk why it just frustrated me! i read all the recaps just so i'd be ready for Iris 2, but i'd love to be able to catch up in with a film ^^

Kim Ki Soo! Park Chul Young! All the best Iris/Athena-verse NK spy-oppas are back. Now if only we had Sun Hwa and her strict power-bob as well, I'd have my hot NK hat-trick all in the one show again. Kim Min Jong, you worked those horrible leather blouson jackets, vile shirts and naff loafers. Please be just as badly dressed this time round.

All this and Joonie tarting around with a gun as well. Can't wait.

I'm really looking forward to this starting. IRIS was brilliant so I have high hopes for this! The cast seems interesting. I didn't really enjoy the last drama I watched Jang Hyuk if this one starts off well I have a feeling it won't take long for me to shake off those memories.
