The last week and a half has been explosive @ Omona. You all have done a great job of making posts and encouraging others. Lets keep the trend going! This post is a helpful compilation of the things we learned from my original post.



Things that omona wants to see more of and enjoys:

-Fashion & Makeup posts ex:1, 2 & 3
-Drama discussion & recaps
-LIVE STREAMING POSTS
-Who Whore It Better
-AIRPORT PHOTOS
-Candid or paparazzi shots
-More cultural/technology/non-celebrity news
-Original content. ex: 1, 2, 3 & 4
-More articles on North Korea. ex: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

And as always Omona wishes for more nude posts & sex tape leaks.


& What did those poll results tell us? The following information comes from the small group of people (486) who took the time to fill out the poll. Thanks guys.


Most people who took the poll became a member of Omona in 2009 (30.9%) & most people learned about Omona in 2009 (46.5%)

How often do people who read Omona comment?

When it comes to people who do comment, (22.9%) comment rarely, (21.4%) comment periodically, (21.0%) comment every few days, and (5.8%) comment daily. So it was a very close race between people who comment but not all that often.

When it comes to the people who chose the never option, (17.9%) of the people chose the too shy or intimidated option. It was a close tie between being uninterested (5.2%) and not being able to comment because they weren't a member (5.8%).

How often do people submit posts to the community for approval?

Suprisingly (0.0%) submit daily (I swear it feels like some people post every day) while (3.2%) will submit a post a few times a week and (6.3%) will submit a post a few times a month. This was followed by people who don't submit posts because they don't know how (14.3%), people who post a few times a year (18.4%), people who are too shy to post (21.9%) and finally people who are uninterested in posting (35.9%)


How often do these people who took the poll visit?

Of the people who took the poll, (0.4%) said they visit rarely. (3.3%) of the people polled said they visit periodically. The highest percentage of votes came from the people who chose the often option (18.5%) and the daily option of (77.8%)

So it looks like the majority of people who use Omona keep coming back.

What about friendship?

When it comes to friendships within Omona (31.4%) said they had friends within the community, while (68.6%) said they did not. (43.3%) of the people polled felt it was not difficult to make friends, while (56.7%) did feel it was difficult to make friends within the community.

I think Omona wants to be friends with each other but is kinda scared. Aww :(

(63.4%) of the people polled have recommended Omona to a friend while only (36.6%) has not.



In conclusion:

People of Omona love posts, they just don't comment a lot. Mostly due to being shy or feeling they have nothing to add to what has already been said or expressed. There is also the possibility that a lot of people who view Omona read the community because they're just learning & feel more comfortable lurking. It can be difficult to jump into a conversation when you feel you aren't as knowledgeable as others.

For people that make posts...

We know you work hard to bring news to the community, but don't feel bad if your post doesn't get a ton of comments, because a lot of people are looking! And a lot of people do appreciate what you're doing. They just need a nudge, and one of the best ways to get people talking is to ask them an easy question they can answer. Ex: If a celebrity posts pictures of their dog, ask members to share pictures and stories of their own pets. Asking detailed questions that only members of that fandom would be able to answer will exclude a lot of people.

In the past 9 days we've received 205k visits from 91k unique visitors. It's been a bit intense. Hopefully this small example shows you the amount of comments is in no way a reflection of how many eyes your posts reach.

This was really interesting!

Omona has definitely exploded over the past week and a half. I love that all it took was a little nudge to get people posting and commenting more often. Let's keep it up Omona =D! Don't be afraid to comment. Everyone was a kpop, kdrama, or Korean culture junkie newbie at some point so don't let that worry you. I'm interested in everyone's opinions too! Not just the ones that agree with my own (how boring otherwise~)!!

I'll keep trying to do my part to bring more...

& It's kind of funny that we have like 14 times the amount of people reading Omona than there are actual members. NK better watch out cause Omona is the new hermit kingdom!

I visit Omona because I love the comments, is very diverse even if it gets a little out of hand sometimes. This is the only k entertainment website in english I visit as well.

If you can create a well written review of his concert it will get accepted! I think one encouraging benefit of doing an original post is that you don't have to worry about someone else submitting the same thing and getting your post rejected.

You can message me or another mod about a post before you actually submit it. That way you wont feel like you wasted your time with the coding. I think it would be easier if we had a dialogue rather than just the one sided rejection e-mail we send out from the queue.

i've been on omona since the beginning, lol. pretty much everyone from the yg_bigbang LJ flocked over here so that barely gets comments anymore but i'm ALWAYS reading omona and commenting where i see fit.

i REALLY love the new fashion posts. and i like the drama posts too but i always feel left out. i really wish there was like a drama preview post to let us kno about upcoming shows with like brief summary, where to watch/who's subbing etc. we should have viewing posts for the more popular dramas as well. i wish i watched korean dramas otherwise i would totally do it.

that said, even tho some of ya'll get on my damn nerves, i love omona to death. <3

i think a few of us are starting to do more drama/idol group tv show discussion posts for the shows currently airing. there are usually links to subbed vids or yt videos embedded in the posts. we just started a !spoiler warning! (http://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/tag/!spoiler%20warning!) tag for discussing movies/dramas btw

that said, if anyone out there is dying for a news/discussion post for a drama, post one yourself ^^

interesting post. I made most of my best kpop friends here and am still close with those who've finally gotten over the affliction. I make fun of it but it's still so much better than any alternative b/c of the format and the people. I'll try to make more posts when I can and not just b/c turdferguson tells me to. I like that people can have discussions here but I'm tired of certain people instigating fights b/c they're bored or whatever... There's a way to be catty or funny or w/e w/o being nasty. Anyway I hope this is a good year for everyone and omona. Thx mods 4 being rad.

Ah.. I just noticed I was like 15 or something when I joined, oh how time flies! I've been less active in the past year or so, but I still visit daily because omona is the only site I read for kpop related stuff. It's the diversity in the comments that make me come back :D I found lots of amazing people through omona, so thank you! :)

I still forget how popular omona is tbqh, I remember when I was translating stuff and some people in Asia were like "oh wow~~ you're a member of omona?" Lol! Even my classmates back in highschool were jealous and wanted to join hahaha.

Idr exactly when I first joined Omona. Last year maybe? But it has grown in to one of the only sites I got to for my kpop news. Actually according to Google Chrome it's my fourth most visited site overall. I really do love the community on here. I definitely want to get to know y'all on here better though.

Ah missed this poll. But anyhow maybe making a post about where to find articles (there are other places than just akp) would encourage more people to post? There has been probably some changes compared to last source post anyhow (some sites are now dead or moved into another location and there are also probably bunch new sites).
