Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha joins ‘Immortal Song 2′ as a fixed member

Brown Eyed Girls‘ Narsha has decided to join the crew of KBS‘s ‘Immortal Song 2‘ as a fixed member.

A representative of the singing competition confirmed the news on January 7th and shared that the singer will be holding her first recording on January 14th.

“Narsha plans to showcase her capabilities not as Narsha of Brown Eyed Girls, but as Narsha the solo artist… With also the new addition of singer Ivy, viewers can look forward to a showdown between Narsha and Ivy’s vocals and performances,” the representative stated.

Narsha made a special guest appearance on the January 5th broadcast of ‘Immortal Song 2′ in support of fellow member JeA. The two performed a collaboration of their own hit song “Abracadabra” and Um Jung Hwa’s classic “On the Count of 3″.

The first episode featuring Narsha as a fixed member will air some time this month.

I always wondered....I know this show is a singing competition, but what is it about??

So far as I've been able to tell, they center each episode (or over two parts) around a "musical legend" and the different cast members and guests pick a song of the legend's to rearrange and perform. It started off partly as a way for idol singers to prove they could sing, but over time there's more focus on different adult performers (like right now one of the cast is Jeong Dong Ha, the current lead singer for Boohwal, which is a famous Korean rock band that started in 1985).

Sometimes they have different themes not just about a specific person's work, but it's basically all of those old hits that everyone knows a loves. The audience votes for who they like best and the winner with the most points at the end of the episode gets a trophy.

It's pretty easy to find different cuts of performances on YouTube. It might be harder to find cuts for the non-idols (since international fans don't care as much), but it's quite easy to find most of the idols. K.R.Y. from SuJu have all done a stint, Jonghyun and Taemin from SHINee, Sunggyu from Infinite, Hyorin from Sistar, Yoseob from Beast, some of B1A4 are on the cast right now, Jay Park was on... I don't know everybody, but you might be able to find a list of who's been on.
