Stardom's Official Position About Block B's Filing for an Injunction

Hello, this is Stardom.

We are sorry to be greeting you at the beginning of the new year of the serpent with a not good thing. Because there are parts wrong in the contents of the incomplete report, we will explain those.

- On unsettled payment of earnings
The profit earnings of the artists Block B, who belong to our Stardom Entertainment, have all been calculated and paid. In relation to the calculations, all earnings have been fulfilled without missing a payment.

The exclusive contract states that in the case when a profit occurs, the payments would be calculated every month on the 25th. However, after debut, from April 2011 to October of the same year for six months, there was not one occurrence of profit, and due to that process we were unable to calculate the payments every month.

In regards to the account balancing cycle, as known at the time of the contract, it was decided to proceed monthly. However we would like to clearly disclose that in March 2012, we visited the members' parents and with approval, the account balancing cycle was changed from every 1 month to every 3 months.

- The swindling of money and valuables from the members' parents by agency CEO Mr. Lee under the pretext of promotion and other fees
It is true that Mr. Lee who was initially employed as a manager, forged qualification of a 'CEO' and made a counterfeit nameplate and other things, and swindled part of the members' parents.

Mr. Lee tricked both the company and the members' parents. He met the parents on his own accord and extorted money and goods from company funds and the parents. At present, his whereabouts are unknown.

The company found out about this truth too late, but at the time, in the case that the victimized parents turned to the company for this incident, it could cause damage to Block B, so we reached a decision to postpone legal proceedings.

On the account of those victimized, Mr. Lee has been criminally charged and put on the wanted list. We, Stardom, hope that Mr. Lee will be apprehended as soon as possible.

The person who assisted in Mr. Lee's crimes at the time, after resigning from the company, is currently supervising Block B, blaming the company for his own actions on the things he started. We are planning to immediately take legal action about this matter.

- The reality of the dissatisfaction about the small amount of broadcasting
After Block B's comeback on February 2012 and Stardom completed hard work in preparations, in the middle of an active domestic promotion, we had to go through an absence period of about 8 months due to the incident that occurred during an interview in Thailand. After that period, the Block B members came to have dissatisfactions about the company for not being able to smoothly go on broadcast.

Stardom also came across hardships during the above mentioned time. We devotedly worked hard in our efforts so that Block B would be able to promote again, and in the end of it we were able to make it so that they could continue on broadcasts again.

- On the existence of someone pulling the strings
Despite the agency working hard in distributing the profit to provide even a bit better of an earning to our singers in, we confirmed that there is someone working behind the scenes, instigating and encouraging the members in this recent state of an injunction filed to cancel the exclusive contract. We cannot help but lament at this.

That person used the balance accounting issue to intentionally block easy communication between the Block B members or families and encouraged distrust about Stardom. And they blamed the company for all the wrong-doings they did while working inside of Stardom. We were able to figure out the whole truth while recently conversing with the members' families.

- On the measures we will take from here
In order to hold a discussion with the Block B members, Stardom sent an official document at the end of the year, and while preparing for a meeting this afternoon, we found out through articles on the Internet that the Block B members filed an injunction for revocation against the company. Regardless, Stardom promises to do all that we can to resolve the misunderstandings and aim for a happy resolution with Block B who are still artists with us at this time.

We will work to be able to greet you with better news.
Thank you.

No single earning from April to October?
They had their Japan mini-tour in September and their merch came out during that period, didn't it? I know I spent quite an amount on it.

I think the broadcasting issues are more related to the time that they WERE promoting, not during the time they took to reflect. Nillini Mambo did well but after two weeks or so they were only appearing on MTV the Show...

Why are they taking legal action against mr. Lee only now?

Idk this is too much of a 'We are innocent, we knew nothing'. If you're not up to date about what is going on with your idols then you're not managing them very well.

We cannot help but lament as we have confirmed that there exists individuals who are encouraging and controlling the members behind this situation of requesting for the nullification of their exclusive contract when we have tried our best to provide even the smallest earnings to our agency artists, and cannot help but lament.

wtf is up with this sentence?

the entire situation sounds really shady, idk if the mr lee part is true but i guess since they mention the police then it is...?

erm...doubt that's true though, in many vids taken after Nanlina promotions ended (i think it was a japan mini concet or smth) it's clear he could hardly talk (he was croaking into the mic actually) and a while ago during the Nillili comeback, Ukwon also mentioned that zico was indeed seriously ill and the rest of the members needed to cover for him during live performances b4 the recent comeback

Stardom this is no way to run a business, even if BB isn't promoting they still need to be paid while they're under contract. When the contract was made it wasn't like they predicted they were going to be promoting every month anyway. And side eyeing the Mr. Lee and the people controlling BB behind the scenes as fuck, too. God, all this Block B drama is too much for me.

I didn't follow this story. What is it happening ?
damn, just when I begin to care about block b.

From: [identity profile] bauci.livejournal.com
The gist of it is that Block B is not happy how they have been managed and there have been great monetary losses for their parents, thus the lawsuit. Stardom is saying they are innocent in all this.

no they couldnt make broadcasts because you started a company on pennies and dimes and had to think about the rent before you could afford to have them on shows all week

At least they were honest about the swindling.

I believe there is someone encouraging Block B to go after Stardom since I don't see any of the members fronting the cause. Maybe PO's or Kyung's parents? I would have bet on Zico's mum but since Taewoon is still in that flop band then idts.

It would be nice if this "someone" were from another company that wants to sign them. (Well, good for the boys, anyway.) Aside from the parents, I wouldn't know who else would bother going after a smallish company like Stardom, unless they have some serious haters. XD

From: [identity profile] ashiva.livejournal.com
This is a prime example why you should never sign a contract about getting paid from profits instead of share of sales 'cause companies can fairly easily use all the money and claim they made no profit.

From: [identity profile] oncloud999.livejournal.com
pretty much. i think that's really dodgy. the company can easily fabricate a bunch of "costs".

Wait in the other post didn't it say that Block B claimed not to be payed for well over a year?

but Stardom admitted to not paying them for six months. What about the other six months?

Date: 2013-01-04 12:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] 921227.livejournal.com
From what I gather, the six months was when BB wasn't working/promoting like at all while the other six months was probably really tiny work that Stardom didn't/couldn't split between them and the members.

This seems like the company doesn't want to take responsibility at all for their negligence in any way shape or form. How on earth was extortion to such a great degree possible right under their noses with them having no knowledge of it until it was over? If this guy was stealing not only from the parents, but the company itself, how did no one seem to catch that? Especially when they are so tight on cash they can't even afford to pay their working artists a measly cent for up to six months?

This sounds pretty shady so I just hope the boys will stick together and survive this chaos
and find a new label, anyway Stardom couldn't promote them well.
I guess now we know why they were given artistic freedom, they didn't get paid anyway or paid everything on their own.

The best piece of advise I can give their fans is don´t trust anything that comes from the company at this stage tbh.

And I see nothing wrong with someone encouraging them to sue if they are not happy and if there´s shady business going on.

And you know at least they sued together, so fans just gotta trust their judgement, they are dong what they think is best for their interests and there´s nothing wrong with that imo.
