2012 KBS Music Festival's Faulty Sound System Reveals K-pop's Superior Vocalists

The ‘2012 KBS Music Festival‘ suffered from numerous audio problems to the frustration of many viewers. However, one positive from the audio issues was that it managed to separate the actual kings and queens of live K-pop.

Many idol groups came onto stage to put on brilliant performances. However, most of them could not keep up with their vocals. The only ones who showed off they could excel at singing live were 2AM, K.Will, Hyorin, Ailee, SHINee, Noel, and TVXQ.

As well-known vocalists, 2AM, K.Will, Hyorin, Ailee, and Noel were able to overcome the difficulties of issues with the sound system to belt out their notes while SHINee and TVXQ were able to pull off an incredible performance even with the addition of complicated choreography. SHINee’s lead singer Jonghyun was especially praised by viewers, whom he awed with his ability.

of course jjong's scat was flawless. "Sherlock" is awesome (and how you properly do a hybrid track), but i LOVE that they've started to bust out this "remix". onew's vocals are perfection. (Edited slightly cause I don't know how to type)

To be fair SM gives their singers much better dancing mics. They're not as close to their mouths as the ones most other groups have.

That SHINee and TVXQ are great live shouldn't be a surprise to anyone at this point, lol <3 But I think they are not the only ones who have good lives, uhm, although it's true that most idols really don't have a great live, but how is that new?

Also, I've always thought that using loud background tracks isn't good for the idols. They can get too used to that and start lacking in the vocal department, and as difficult as your choreo is, well, it's part of your job. At least, deliver.

Yay SHINee! That performance is seriously my most favorite performance of theirs! They sounded SO great! And the added parts from Clue and Note just made it perfect. <3

Besides, the reason that TVXQ are gods is because they're just that awesome...But I'm totally biased so...

obviously k.will, noel, etc are gonna do well because that's what they do, sing well
plus they don't have tough choreo so no headsets to deal with
my shinee and tvxq bbs always do great and they're known for being able to pull off lives with difficult choreo, so no surprise there either
i didn't watch all the perfs, but i thought infinite was also really solid as they usually are

So far, all the lives that I heard from the two of them somehow terrible and it boggles my mind how other people praise it -- it seemed like we are listening to 2 different song. Or perhaps i just hate the song... >.>

I'll be forever impressed at how much Taemin has improved on his performances. He might not have the best vocals but he is damn stable now.

Agree with the list, although I think it would be better if it noted which were ballads and which were dance songs. It's easier to sing well when standing holding a hand mic than dancing. ^^

shinee always deliver, that's nothing new~~ the thing that i appreciate the most though is that they really sound the same live as on record. not all the time, but most of the time. even with the less talented singers of the group, at least what they put on record is their actual level of talent and not autotuned bs.

Weeping at my boy Onew's perfection. His live vocals are flawfree.
I'm also really proud that Taemin's singing has gotten really stable even if he's bouncing around stage.

Not exactly sure why I need to even do this since I love the boy to bits, but Onew's live vocals aren't always flawless. He goes off note way too much in performances, but that's been getting better ever since they released Sherlock. When he hits all the notes though it's like listening to an angel.
