2ne1's Red Carpet Style for the 2012 MelOn Music Awards

On December 14, the 2012 MelOn Music Awards were held at the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium where K-pop artists were honored that evening for their accomplishments this past year. One such group in attendance was YG‘s chart-topping girl group 2NE1, who had great success earlier this year with their single “I Love You;” they were winners in the 2012 Top Ten Artists category. The girls walked the red carpet in coordinated black outfits that still showed off each member’s individual style.

Leader CL is a fashionista with a flair for the unique, and her ensemble for this event definitely fits the bill. The rapper opted for a fur-trimmed jacket from the Fall 2012 Altuzarra collection ($6630 $3978). The navy knit piece features an asymmetrical collar as well as back and pocket trim in dyed fox fur. She also sported a pair of thigh-high platform leather boots from Versus by Versace ($900 $630), one of the high-end label’s diffusion lines. CL’s blonde locks were pulled up in a high, messy bun and she wore blue contacts that made her eyes pop against the similarly-hued jacket.

Don’t let the violet hair fool you — even though Minzy is the maknae, she often wears items that are much more suited for someone a bit older. For this event, the dance machine is styled in black from head to toe. A few pieces from Balmain‘s latest Fall/Winter collection were stand-outs of her look. She wore their oversize ponyskin jacket ($10842 $4336) which features an abundance of large and padded shoulders that give the piece a boxy shape. Minzy accessorized with a double-buckle belt that has this season’s ornate styling as well as a center detail with Balmain’s familiar eagle.

Sandara Park is the most frequent wearer of Balmain among her fellow members, and her red carpet outfit is just another example of her love for the ultra-expensive designer. The statement piece of her look would have to be the quilted leather down jacket with the fur collar ($10516), but she wore it with silk blouse ($1991) and leather skinny pants ($5020 $1255) from the French fashion house as well. Dara finished off her look with a few other big-name labels: and Alexander McQueen double-buckle western belt ($495) and boxcalf ankle boots from Givenchy ($1255).

Putting to rest any recent rumors of weight gain, Park Bom strutted her stuff in her signature style — tiny mini-dress and sky-high heels. For this event, Bom chose a sexy, one-sleeved dress ($1688 $1350) look from up-and-coming designer Anthony Vaccarello‘s Fall 2012 collection. She works the dramatically unbalanced dress with a fantastic pair of platform stilettos. The strappy, spiked heels are 20th Anniversary Christian Louboutin Isolde 160 sandals ($3995). Her bold gold necklace is a Medusa chain from Versace ($1095). Since the singer recently showed off a much shorter hairstyle, it is safe to assume that the super-long side ponytail is just another accessory to this red carpet style.

Also talking of expensive clothes, CL's shorts she wears in the I Love You MV cost about the same as my university accommodation for the year e___e YG spends so much money on clothes, it's ridiculous...

Minzy's hair went purple several months ago (around the time Bom cut her hair to shoulder length) and everyone freaked out and thought it meant a comeback (we were wrong, sadly)

Well, I've regularly checked out 2NE1's clothes therefore the prices do not surprise me and I always wish that I could own all those shoes worn by Bom despite or just rather because of those killer heels.
But one thing which always bugs is that although YG spends so much for clothes, Minzy still looks so unfortunate and way too old, she does not like a girl born in 94.
Give her some colorful outfits and age appropriate clothing, please :c

i like bom's outfit the most.

i love CL's boots but i think the jacket is ugly as hell. i like minzy's belt but i think the jacket is overpowering for her small frame, and i dont like anything dara has on. it's just too much!

i'm neither here nor there on bom's dress (sleeve should've been hemmed at her wrist---handing like that it makes it look too big for her) but the styling is perfect. love the shoes and the necklace.

I wonder if they really BUY the clothes, don't other celebrities for red carpets and such get their outfits from the designers since it's publicity for them as well? I can imagine it being like this as well... if not, holy crap YG, spend some of that money and produce a great 2ne1 album!

I'm pretty sure YG doesn't have to pay for those clothes. Like you said, designers usually lend their stuff for red carpet events and also for MV shoots for publicity. Most of the time the artists are expected to give the items back after the events/shootings, just like they had to with Bom's $20,000 Alexander McQueen dress (http://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/6503365.html). Sometimes they are allowed to keep them as gifts by the labels, especially if the designers want to see the artists wear (= advertise) their stuff over a longer period of time.

Bom you are forever my shoe twin but I still refuse to buy the Isolde. The original Louboutin for Rodarte shoe remains far superior in my mind...plus they aren't worth $4500 (after taxes here). I tried them on at the Sak's trunk show in March (?) and was not here for that. Isolde has been sold out for months so I wonder if they got them off the secondary market since Bom just started wearing them.

Their outfits always run that price...and they manage to get some runway only pieces too in YG. I wonder who their stylists know.

I think it's too much how they always wear designers' clothes. I get that they should be "trendy, cool blablabla..." but do you really need to go to this extent ? I'm no fashion expert and barely know the brands but I do wonder if you need all of this to display your "avant garde, againblablabla..." image.

But they are wearing big names, Christian Louboutin is one of the biggest names in shoe design, Balmain and Alexander McQueen are HUGE, very respected fashion houses. I really doubt they paid for most or even any of this stuff.

Try Dafs (Louboutin Daffodile)...they are 6.5 inches but super comfortable. I can walk around in them all day. Try them in your American size as they run large.

Also once you stretch their shoes and they mold to your feet they are comfy as well.
