Alright Omona! This is my first edition of "Who Sang It Better?"! We all know there's some covers that are done in kpop OVER AND OVER, so the real question is: Who sang it better? Hyorin could probably out-sing everyone in SNSD except maaaaaaybe Taeyeon and Tiffany, BUT I'm a sucker for cute holiday themed stages so I think I'm voting SNSD on this one! What do you think Omona?

If it was only about singing maybe Hyorin, but I didn't like her pronounciation at all and 9 people fit a big stage better than only one person.

While Hyorin's vocals are amazing, I feel her voice was too strong for the song. I liked Soshi's version better.

The "neither" people are a minority, but I'm curious (once again) why neither? Are you not Sistar/SNSD fans, or you can't stand the accents? I'd have a hard time believing you think Hyorin doesn't have a good singing voice though...

Hyorin's vocals are bonkers per usual but even snsd's pronunciation is better :/

i felt like the gg stage got too huge (a consequence of being the finale) but Hyorin's stage wasn't busy enough

i also really love the cut and styling Hyorin's dress but neon so does not do it for me. i see the yellow ornaments etc so i understand the theme, but idk it makes me think of neoprene lol. maybe ivory would have been better?

Haha mte on Hyorin's dress. She looks great in it, but not very "'tis the season" you know? Yellow isn't really my fav color either tbh. Probably biased cause I look terrible in it!!

on the subject of hyorin's vocals, while i think she's a good technical singer (when she's not shouting ofc), something about her tone really kinda gets on my nerves.

Lol opinions always count esp. in these posts~ I was honestly curious why a few people said neither, but it makes sense if you don't like the song. This is one of my fav Christmas songs so I didn't even think of that haha!

I can't tell if Hyorin was under the weather or if she just was not confident enough in her english to sing the song to her full potential? Either way I'll go with her. SNSD's voices are too flat, thin and tinny for this song imo.

Hyorin will probably never get my vote for anything. Her vocals are always on point and she perfectly reaches notes, but I never feel any emotions when she sings (very subjective, I know). A good stage doesn't need excellent or even close to perfect vocals to make it a good one that brings the mood/feelings of the song to the audience.

That said, regarding the stage, Soshi's gave off a very fun, wintery festive mood, while Hyorin's did not, so I voted SNSD. SNSD's may not be the best cover in terms of vocals, but they were good enough that they didn't ruin anything in the song for me. Yoona and Sunny somewhat surprised me in this song I think (pleasantly surprised, that is, though I shouldn't be surprised with Sunny at this point), and I love when Jessica chooses to use power in her singing here though I love her voice in general.

Besides last year's Soshi's cover, there's their cover from 2009/2010 for a gayo daejun and then Sooyoung's for the 1st itnw concert tour lmao. But yeah recently, the '94-born girls did a Christmas medley and KARA's Jiyoung sang Santa Baby though it was only for literally 40 seconds

Tiffany is one of the better singers in SNSD for sure because her voice can be quite powerful, but I wouldn't really put her in the same category as Taeyeon or Seohyun just yet o__O

This makes me remember the days when Jessica was one of the better singers in the group and could sing her heart out without sounding strained...unlike now T__T

Now that being said, yes Hyorin can belt out those notes but SNSD definitely brings out the Christmas cheer here to my vote goes to my SoShi unnies ^__^

I guess I wasn't feeling Hyorin's? It seemed like she was more focused on getting the notes right/smiling for the camera and maybe the stage wasn't as flashy as soshi's. I dig the orchestra intro though. The atmosphere was great in SNSD's and I liked that they showed shots of the audience having fun. Their pronunciation overall was also better even without including sica and fany but meh, pretty trivial to me. I liked their outfits more though than hyorin's yellow dress for a christmas/holiday themed stage. Idk, there was just a lot of variety in soshi's - having nine people share the spotlight was better to me than just watching one person. You could focus on one member and then watch the performance again and discover a new detail or whatever haha

Ahhhh. Jessica sounded really nicely here. I wish she could sing more like this.
I really liked Hyorin's but I voted for SNSD because it was more entertaining to watch. Hyorin's version felt like it was too log for some reason.

Awww, Taeyeon was having so much fun singing this and I was pleasently surprised with the girls' pronounciation.

I love Hyorin, seriously she has great vocals, just that 9 people singing this, spreading the parts where you need to really belt it out or just sing it on its simplest way was prolly too much for Hyorin. :D

Are there a lot from kpop? That's my other favorite Christmas song, but from my life before kpop I have at least eight covers lol.

I never seek out kpop covers though; sometimes the English makes me cringe. Ik Suzy did it last week...
