'My P.S. Partner' Breaks The 1 Million Threshold In 10 Days
The movie 'My P.S. Partner' sold over 1 million tickets in just 10 days after its release.
According to Korean Film Council's Movie Theater Tickets Integrated Network on the 16th, with 141,650 tickets sold, 'My P.S. Partner' placed 3rd in the daily box office. Overall, the movie has sold 1,101,589 tickets.
The movie is about the romance of Hyun Seung (played by Ji Sung) and Yoon Jung (played by Kim Ah Joong). Their romance started with a 'secret' phone call to the wrong person. Ji Sung, Kim Ah Joong, Shin So Yool, and Kang Kyung Joon star in the film.
'My P.S. Partner' released on the 6th, and even though the movie has the handicap of restricting youths from watching it, it debuted with about 70,000 tickets and placed 2nd place in the box office. During its first week, 'My P.S. Partner' sold 560,000 tickets. In its second week, the movie averaged about 70,000 tickets per day and on its 10th day, it passed the millionth mark on December 15th.
'The Hobbit' kept its top spot at the box office after releasing on the 13th with 391,799 tickets sold on the 15th. The total tickets sold for 'The Hobbit' is 744,899. '26 Years' had a 165,243 on the day, taking second place and has sold over 2,412,894 tickets overall.

Still cuts from Ji Sung and Kim Ah Joong‘s new movie ‘My PS Partner‘ have been revealed.
The first photo shows a possible steamy scene between Ji Sung and Kim Ah Joong while the second photo seems to have been taken during a more romantic scene. The second photo took place in a park in Hong Dae, causing traffic in the surrounding area from the massive number of fans.
‘My PS Partner’ is a mature movie about the secret relationship that forms between two people after an accidental phone call.

[Interview] Kim Ah Joong Was Attracted to ′My PS Partner′ Because It Was About Phone Sex and Not Letters
Kim Ah Joong showed her name was still a strong one in the box office. After hitting a big success with the film 200 Pounds Beauty, she had to leave the Korean box office for a while due to sudden personal difficulties.
Despite her hiatus, she succeeds in filling the entire 114 minutes of her new film with her beautiful and lovely charms. She even showed off the vocal skills she had unleashed in her previous pieces, blazing bright with her determination toward the film.
The hard work seems to be leading the film to a success. My PS Partner garnered the highest opening score for a 19+ romantic comedy on its first day in theaters.
We met with this actress, who emphasized that she doesn′t feel tired despite her busy schedule because it′s her first film in a while.
"The film premiered on a Thursday and it was very snowy, so I′m very thankful that it managed to draw so much interest. I never imagined something like that would happen because the competition was so stiff, and I′m so happy."
The film revolves around a fairly shocking theme: phone sex. It seemed it would have been difficult for any actress to make the decision to appear in the film.
"When I first got the script, I thought ′PS′ would stand for ′postscript′, but I was glad to find it was about ′phone sex′ when I turned the first page. It′s a subject that has never been covered in Korean films, and I remembered that a foreign film once used the theme in an interesting way. I was curious on how the film would turn out in Korea, and immediately decided to appear in it."
Many will probably be shocked by Kim Ah Joong in the film, not because she strips down in it, but because she, to the contrary, never does. It would be a surprise for those who expected the film, based on its title, to feature many risque scenes that reveal much of Kim Ah Joong′s skin.
"We shot the film on the level that the director and I agreed on. Many will probably have expected [such risque scenes from the film] because it′s rated for those 19 and older. I also thought I shouldn′t choose sexy comedies if I′m going to be burdened about revealing my body, so I became determined not to demand changes in how much I need to show. The director, however, thought that since Yoon Jung (Kim Ah Joong) is in a relationship with Seung Joon (Kang Kyung Joon) and she′s cheating on him, if there were too many revealing bed scenes it would look like a deep and passionate melodrama. I immediately agreed with him. (Laugh)"
The Yoon Jung character Kim Ah Joong acts in is fairly different from many of her previous roles. She is an ordinary person, who follows the emotions brought on by love and worries about her future.
"I was in many unique roles like celebrities, singers or forensic doctors. I liked this piece because it was different. My role wasn′t very individualistic. Since she′s not the type that stands out much, I can be free with how I express her. I tested myself. I wanted to play around freely without being walled in by the commonness."
The revealing scenes instead went to Kim Ah Joong′s junior, Shin So Yul. In the middle of the interview, Kim Ah Joong enjoyed a video chat with Shin So Yul, who acts as her rival So Yeon, and Kim Bo Mi, who appears as her sister. It seemed she had become close with the two actresses like family.
"I saw Ms [Shin] So Yul′s bed scenes at the preview. I was also surprised at how deep they were. She′s younger and she′s my junior, but still I have a lot to learn from her. She was great not only in the revealing scenes, but also in the emotional ones. Ms So Yul and [Kim] Bo Mi all followed me very well. We didn′t get to see each other often within scenes, but we became close at get-togethers. Whenever we filmed together we became happy like we had met long-lost relations. (Laugh)"
Coincidentally, My PS Partner premiered around the same time as 26 Years, which Kim Ah Joong had originally took up before its production came to a halt. Han Hye Jin, the one who took over the role Kim Ah Joong had waited for, is a friend of Kim Ah Joong, and is signed with the same agency.
"I talked with Han Hye Jin sunbaenim (senior) at her father′s funeral a while back. Unni (big sister) and I wished each other′s films good luck. We promised we would watch the films and give each other good advice. I didn′t get to appear in 29 Years (26 Years′ tentative title) in the end, but I′m touched that the film even got to make it out into the world. I don′t think of it as competition."
