'King of Dramas' Rules Out 3 Problems

'The King of Dramas' is being hailed for not having these 3 things:



1. Acting Problems

"King of Dramas" is a project that needs no controversy about the actors. Kim Myung Min is widely recognized as one of the best actors currently and shows that once again. Jung Ryeo Won also is showing very good synchronization with her character and is definitely doing her part in attracting popularity for the drama and for herself.

Choi Siwon is being touted as being 'rediscovered,' with his various portrayals of the out-of-whack actor Kang Hyun Min. Many are being led to believe that this may even be closer to who the real Choi Siwon is because it's such a realistic portrayal.

Oh Ji Eun, who plays top actress Sung Min Ah, is relatively new actress but she's definitely pulling her weight as a part of the love triangle with Anthony Kim.

2. Forced Love Story

Because the drama is about a specialized profession, the production has managed to carry this integrity thus far and keep the drama about the arduous process of creating a drama until this point, the half point of the drama. Recently, the love stories have been taking shape and many more fans are asking for more.

Some Korean dramas have been cricitized in the past for forcing love stories that are not necessarily too convincing but "King of Dramas" certainly isn't one of them.

3. Ridiculous Plotpoints

"King of Dramas" also does not have the more extreme plotpoints that are often used to entice the viewers' curiosity and is definitely not sensational. The drama is realistic and true to life so it's definitely attracting a fanbase of entertainment and media professionals.

One insider said, "We're being told that the industry people really love this drama. We hope to continue to make a high quality drama that doesn't fall under the expectations of the viewers."

I stopped myself from watching it after a few episodes, mostly in order to save my butt from failing my finals.
But now I don't have to worry about studying for a couple of weeks so I've been thinking about picking up where I left. Might do so. Tomorrow.

I checked out this drama only because the people at Dramabeans were super raving about it. I love it because it's refreshing to watch it after being drained by "Nice Guy." Siwon is amazing as Hyunmin simply because his character is so ridiculous and he pulls it off so well. Siwon should really stick to more roles like that where his ridiculous Shibrows and facial expressions are put to such good use. Heavy dramatic actor, he is not. Kim Myungmin is great as Anthony and Jung Ryeowon's doing great too.

Ridiculous plot points? Depends on what you call ridiculous, some of their moments seem dramatic and exaggerated enough, though I'd think that was their intention, to highlight and maybe satirize many of the issues and attitudes of the entertainment industry. Perhaps they meant the plot points aren't out of left field or unnatural twists.

The drama hasn't piqued my interest enough to start watching, saving it for later. It's very funny from what bits I've seen.

yeah I think maybe the plot points they are referring to is like someone getting in a car accident and losing their memory or *bam* someone has cancer. Where they just throw a random plot twist in at the last minute to be dramatic :/

I'm currently watching this now (actually in the middle of ep 9 as I type this) and I love it!
It's refreshing that I find myself rooting against the lead character, Anthony, at times. I want him to succeed, but sometimes he's such an awful human being I want him to fall on his face.

"The drama is realistic"
God, I hope it's not too realistic. Watching it, I was convinced it has to be exaggerated. At least some parts have to be. I'm sure the interactions between actors, writers, directors, producers, etc. is accurate for the most part, but there are times that you just have to take a step back and go, "No way that would happen outside of a drama."

ikr! anthony's an asshole and i applaud the scriptwriters for not changing his personality just like that. there's actually a meta line where jung ryeowon says smth like 'there's no way a bad character would change that easily' and i think the writers do a good job of committing to that belief. i like that anthony's a complex character becos k-dramas tend to be horrible at character development (and plot development too, lbr).

there's a lot of backstabbing going on in the media industry so i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of what has happened in the drama was for real. the shady yakuza dealings is common in a lot of asian industries as well :S

Kang Hyun Min is above and beyond, but fuck off point number three. Where we watching the same drama? The one where under pain of death he had to make and air a drama buy the end of the year of be killed by a nostalgic drama loving yakuza. ok.

Compare to "The World we Are within" which one is better?? -
I love this drama cause it portray a realistic side of people living in Seoul and the bad-bad side of drama making (the crazy schedule, the controlling big company, the battle of ratings, etc)
