Yeah...and then these young folk ask who Clazziquai is, or who Kangin or Geng was, or disparage OT5 DBSK and I weep for how long I've been active in fandom. I was kind of vaguely around for a few years before 05.
i've been in it since 2005---BoA and se7en were the only kpop artists i listened to mostly because i was (and still am) in to jpop and i learned about them first through their japanese releases. same with clazziquai and wheesung (collaborations with m-flo).
2007 when the idol craze officially took off is when i started expanding to other artists. i remember the wonder girls' debut like it was yesterday, lol. i remember when KHJ of SS501 being on WGM being a HUGE deal because idols just didn't appear on shows like that.
THESE DAYS?! straight up overkill and i say roughly 75% of idol groups dont deserve half the hype they get. remember when they actually had to WORK HARD instead of ride the success of their predecessors and make better music to achieve some kind of success? they dont make idols like they used to IMO those were the days...
Man...while I agree with everything in this comment (and I was also into jpop and have remained interested in it since about 95) the phrasing makes us seem a bit old school LOL
I remember being whatever about Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo because my heart was all in Andy and Solbi LOL. I LOVED Shinhwa (still do). Also the Ant Couple was a distracting mess
WHAAAATTTT????!!!! andy and solbi were my least favorite!!!! i actually felt they were the least genuine couple O___O. legit unpopular opinion because while i loved they way they LOOKED together i could never get in to them as a couple. i stanned the hell out of alshin, ant couple, and hwang buin with her flower boy!
they were all so captivating in their own way. alshin brought on the innocent romance. alex practically INVENTED special events on that show. the ant couple brought the drama. their fighting was legit and actually felt normal since they were both so head strong. i def burst in to tears the episode where crown j pretended he wanted to end their "relationship" but it was all a plan where he performed for her and gave her a cake with a shoe on it! ahahahahahaha! and KHJ constantly being amazed at how incredible hwangbo was at EVERYTHING. ugh! REMEMBER WHEN SHE VISITED HIM IN JAPAN?????!!!! i cried like a baby when they left the show.
they'll NEVER been able to top season 1 (tho the R&B couple in season 2 of hwayobi and hwanhee is to die for) because there r too many ~pure idols~ now.
Dude...what? Andy and Solbi were legit. Also the WGM Come To Play episodes definitely fleshed out their situation from Solbi's viewpoint. Like that said, "WGM is a dangerous show."
Alex...listen I love Alex and I watched his episodes regularly but Shin Ae was NOT there for that. Her marriage 6 months after the second time they left the show let me know I wasn't wrong in not feeling them.

Ant Couple was such a hot damn mess...it was RIDICULOUS. She would just throw fits and I was dying at him being like, "Baby...baby...baby...baby"
Alot of my friends love the Lettuce Couple...I enjoyed them but I was never full up in love with them because I recognized that the show dragged you in and set you up for failure LOL
I thought both Alex and Solbi had more feelings for the other person. Shinae was just straight up not interested, and Andy while nice treated it kind of like a joke. Poor Solbi was falling for him all on her own. Same thing happened with Khuntoria. Pretty obvious that Khun was into Vic but she wasn't into him at all.
Ant couple was real period. That's how real relationships are sometimes fights and copycat events. Loved it.
Andy and Solbi were both aware of their situation. On Come To Play it was clear that Solbi wouldn't date him while they were on the show no matter how she felt and probably wouldn't date him after the show either...but she also wouldn't stop herself from enjoying it and letting herself feel however she felt
Shinae was totally not there for that...and she was slightly creepy to be honest...which was probably why Alex was so over the top LOL
I haven't liked their recent releases (wtf@ KISSx3 that song is an abomination) but this reminds me of their early stuff so much. It's amazing, so chill ;~;
