Asset management and Brokerage firm Korea Investment & Securities (KI&S) has predicted that SM Entertainment will bring in 43.7 billion KRW (approximately $40.3 million USD) in revenue, and 13.7 billion KRW (approximately $12.6 million USD) in profit for the fourth quarter of 2012.

The sales are expected to increase by 11% compared to last year, and a profit increase of 51.3% over Q4 2011. Even though the company’s third quarter results fell short of analyst expectations, they are still growing as a content-producing enterprise and theirgrowth doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The company is actively promoting in Japan and China, and there will also be a synergy effect for SM C&C. SM C&C plans to expand as an Asian video content and drama production center, in addition to becoming a global acting management business.

The projected results are based from Girls’ Generation‘s single and full album release in Japan, as well as their plan for a Japanese arena tour and American album release early next year. The SM TOWN concerts also brought in an incredible number of audience members in Singapore and Thailand. Not only so, but the Super Junior KRY unit had their own concert in Japan in front of an audience of 15,000, and they’ve added more dates due to demand. TVXQ has also started their world tour.

EXO is also said to have a new album slated for release in December, and will enter the Chinese market next year as well. 1-2 new groups will also debut next year, and f(x) along with BoA will be re-entering the Japanese market as well. The company also saw an incredibly successful year in Japan not only from Girls’ Generation, but also SHINee and Super Junior.

A researcher from Korea Investment & Securities said, “Based on their activities, the earnings that they receive from Japan is estimated to be around 20 billion KRW (approximately $18.4 million USD).Their domestic and foreign sales are increasing as well.

Does that mean they won't be promoting this one simultaneously? How bizarre. Though I guess things were totally in sync for MAMA promos anyway. Still, it's kind of weird. Maybe it will all just get delayed to next year. >.>;;;

It doesn't help that they've released only a mini so far. But don't worry, SM lately pulls YGs left and right, I guess the new groups will debut in early 2014 if we are lucky.

The problem is, till then EXO will have released only another mini and 3 digital singles, mark my words.
they were supposed to comeback in october ffs

Oh, and I bet one of the new groups will be an SM the Ballad vol.2 with the Open Arms line-up.

as long as jino is there, then yes pls. or solo debut

Does it mean SM will finally take Jino out of the dungeon (or his rumoured involvement with M3) and possibly the mixed gender group for 2013 debuts?

For EXO in China, I think they're referring to OT12 doing promotionals because fans in China took quite a liking to all of them together. Although I love to see them as one big group, I think they should establish EXO-K in Korea but you know LSM's determination for the Chinese market.

thank god EXO are finally coming back. seriously LOL us fans have been waiting for way too long

but hm i'm not too surprised they're debuting another group...SM has actually had been consistently debuting artists every year until 2009 when f(x) came out. think about it. dbsk 2003, trax 2004, cjsh the grace and suju in 2005, iconiq and zhang li yin 2006, snsd 2007, shinee 2008, f(x) 2009...

then i guess they focused all efforts on what LSM called "M1" and "M2" or whatever and out came the awesomeness that is EXO for 2012.

Whyyyyyy would they even considering debuting two new acts? Ugh. They're already full to the brim and their artist' comebacks are too close together as it is. Why don't they focus more on establishing EXO and better utilizing their current acts? I was hoping that the 2/3 years between f(x)'s and EXO's debuts would become the norm, but it seems like SM is trying to make up for the lost time instead. Wtf.

And if one of the debuts happens to be a girl group I AM GOING TO BE SO FUCKING MAD SM WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHY DID YOU EVEN DEBUT F(X) UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

If anyone debuts it better be this precious ball of sunshine:

I think SME is really not thinking things through if they're debuting another two groups. They really need to work on Exo-K (F(x)) and their lack of existence in Korea and release a new full album.

And considering that everyone literally debuted, made a comeback on top of each other this year I can't imagine how unorganized it is at SME right now. And just as a small reminder F(x) still doesn't have a fanclub name or color. I know they don't sell very well but I mean COME ON! Work on that shit not a new group!

So...is this SNSD American album really happening? I don't know how to feel about this tbh

Date: 2012-11-29 07:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] keeleym.livejournal.com
Yeah, it's happening. There were articles a while ago where Interscope/UMG people talked about how SNSD got signed and what direction they're taking with their music. One of the people that was interviewed was their A&R I think. I wish I could find it, ugh.

Also, Miles Walker (he did work on their new Jp album) said on Twitter today that he was looking forward to working on the US album.

SNSD - as much as I am jamming to their new Japanese album - needs to make a Korean comeback. I want variety shows with them again, it has been to quiet this year, lol. Don't know how I feel about the American album. I would love to hear a completely English album from them, but if it is anything like "The Boys" than they can keep it for all I care.

BoA back to Japan? YES PLEASE. Although I still feel like they should have worked her comeback better.

F(X) is for me just almost non-existent. I don't know how their actual popularity is in Korea, but it feels like they are always trailing behind. The Japanese (and Korean for that matter) version of Hot Summer was horrible, I couldn't stand it in English and apparently it sounds awful in every language. They (SM) should have worked their comeback better tbh.

well boa's japanese music is awesome, so yes please.

f(x) - i pray you practiced japanese since hot summer. practiced hard.

1-2 groups...must be whatever jino is doing and a girl group...i don't particularly want new groups at this point though. i'm sure most of that has to with disappointments with exo. maybe try ask me again after their album :)

edit: when they say entering the chinese market...i secretly hope it's for exo m to have some sort of show. any kind please.

If the Apocalypse theme for the EXO album is true I will collapse laughing.

I was think EXO entering China seriously meant more variety, fan signings, and performances for M but what if they mean a tv show or OT12?

EXCITING TIMES!

f(x) has sold well digitally and physically since the two singles last year plus NuABO did well and got them well known with Vic's appearance on We Got Married. They win #1s so I'm okay with a new girl group. I just wish SM took them to China or Taiwan to capitalize on Vic's popularity and tv show instead of Japan but Japan is where the big money is.

F(x) is so dead. They've done really well in the charts but SM just doesn't seem to care and with 2 more group, they're so screwed. Suju I think is near disbanding too as a group and will probably only get together once a year for an album.

I don't care about their new groups tbh, EXO K needs work.
