Supreme Team’s E-Sens Criticizes Comedians Doing Hip Hop

Supreme Team’s E-Sens has a bone to pick with the increasing number of comedians making attempts into the hip hop genre.

On November 27, the Supreme Team member tweeted, “Why is it that when [comedians] have no ideas or have nothing to do, they always try and imitate hip hop musicians with “music” that aren’t even funny? Truthfully speaking, I am f*cking tired of seeing this.” 

Though the tweet wasn’t directed at anyone in particular, with the rise of such cases through efforts from Jung Hyung Don, Brave Brothers, UV and more, the tweet was seen as an indirect diss at them.

His agency later commented in on the manner as well saying that the tweet was an expression of E-Sens’ personal opinion and did not reflect the opinion of the agency itself.

The tweet brought divided opinions from netizens with some agreeing saying things like, “It’s an embarrassment to true hip hop artists”, while others shared, “Then hip hop musicians shouldn’t come out on variety programs either.”

Hmm I actually kind of agree with him. Maybe I just don't find gagmen as funny as Korea does, or E Sens for that matter. I believe that was just a mistranslation of the comedian group Brave Guys; unless you meant it's funny that Brave Guys are considered hip hop, in which case, carry on!

Tbh I kind of agree with him because when every comedian (not only in Korea) wants to do a song it will most always be hip hop. It's like people think its an easy genre to sing to and make songs for. It's so overused that it becomes ridiculous. I remember growing up listening to a popular comical hip hop group in my country and thinking all hip hop was about being silly and not serious.

hip hop is not something sacred that's off limits to comedians but i understand where he's coming from. it's kinda how i dislike rock music being painted into a caricature of leather jackets, long hair and screeching vocals.

UV isn't a parody of hip hop acts tho. they're making fun of cheesy 90's pop. it just so happens that their songs feature rap.

Since when is allkpop the more accurate translation? :O Anyway, this translation made it seem like a rant but really he was more like, "oh yeah, that really bugs me." Which, seriously, is not that big of a deal. Aren't there types of comedy that bug the hell out of you too?

I hope people know that hip hop isn't just limited to rap...

I agree with one of the previous statements above, hip hop shouldn't be closed off like it's a high and mighty genre. Originally it was means of just saying whatever you wanted to say and having fun among groups.
I do agree with him on the idea of posing as certain images, stereotyping hip hop artists as people with gangsta status.

I get what he's saying but I've never really considered them to be hip-hop or rap artists anyway. It's not what their whole careers are going to be and they are comedy groups, even if the way some of them choose to present it is a little bit questionable (UV's wigs for example).

That being said, Brave Guys were motherflipping awesome at the Busan fireworks festival concert this year.
